MJ Estate Statement Re: Justin Bieber Slave To The Rhythm Recording. [Merged]

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

I dont care if bieber made his own cover on it for his fan girls to hear, but to mix it in with MJ.... NOPE THATS GOING WAAAAAAAAAY TO FAR!

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

it's all about the number one's and money isnt it john? well if you wanna be like that, we won't support any such project in the future. how can you have the decency of given bieber the right's and calling it his song? all the song needed was to be touched up by rodney jerkins from the original mix in 1998. this has just really annoyed me and i will be distraught for many years to come.

The original mix is not from 1998. It is a Dangerous outtake. Around 89/90.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

As far as I know it's an exclusive promotional track, not replacing Tricky's rework, so nothing important (except that Justin Bieber obviously sucks).

If you imagine his family being in charge of his estate, you'd also face this nightmare of a "collaboration": Paris Jackson is friends with Justin Bieber.

So, who cares? I'm going to ignore this version, so will many Michael Jackson fans. It's not meant for us.

A 'promotional track'? Promoting what??

The instrumental on this is better than Tricky's IMO. The only problem is Bieber's vocals (the fact there are too many).

Even if it's just a "promo track" (which has not been confirmed yet) it doesn't take away the fact that Bieber actually recorded this track, and that the Asstate actually APPROVED this. "Sure thing, Bieber, go ahead. Here's the acappella, and here is the instrumental. Do you want anything else?"

This might as well be beginning of a new era. The "Estate handing out MICHAEL JACKSON material to other artists for them to play with it for some extra cash money- ERA".

You'll soon see WHAT this is for.
The instrumental on this is worse IMO, the leaked version by "DJ Stolen" was a work in progress and of lossy quality.

@Pentum: Well, tbh, MJ started all this with T25 (think about WHAT ELSE - demos and outtakes - Sony had planned to release instead). And "No Friend Of Mine" (Pras), a remix of "Blue Gangsta" was also authorized by MJ himself back then.
Nowadays it's about who's friends with whom. I'm also NOT supporting this particular version but alea iacta est (the die is cast).

*Edit*
I was referring to "No Friend Of Mine" instead of "Gangsta".

I think the instrumental overall is a bit better (maybe a little too "soft" compared to the Tricky version). But at least it hasn't the annoying beeping-noises of the (unfinished) Tricky Stewart Version.

Hmm, so you have knowledge of the what this song is planned to promote? Interesting.....

How 'soon' will we know???

I think you're right about T25 and 'Gangsta'. MJ started to agree these kind of things before he died.
Also, collaborations are everywhere these days. Just about every song seems to have a collaborative element - it's fashionable to have guests on your track.

This isn't true. MJ didn't have any idea where those guys got the track.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Just saw this tweet from someone.

Stephanie ?@JBsGotThatSwag 4m
I can't believe #SlaveToTheRythm is already on UK radio. I have chills. SLAY.

Edit - Capital FM are playing it. Everyone is giving it props as a JB song. I am so disappointed for Michael.

$hit. :/ IT'S NOT HIS SONG FFS.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

As far as release... I don't think this will have an official release. Couple reasons, there has not been an official statement about Justin bieber releasing a new album. Which means his next one is a bit doiwn the road.. If this was/is intended for release it would lower its sale potential it being leaked this far in advances.. I wouldn't over react about it! As of now all it did is when someone types in Justin bieber they'll hear mj.. And some sources will pick it up and talk about it... That's it! If anything it will bring more attention to michael. And I promise at least a small percentage of people that hear it will look up mjs version for the first time..

The difference is that Michael agreed on those things. With this they decided to slap Bieber on here when MJ can't give approval because he's dead. They spat on Michael's grave

Q: Was "Blue Gangsta" remixed by Tempamental as "No Friend Of Mine"?

F: This is not the name of the song, it's just the chorus that contains these few words. The real title is "Blue Gangsta". When I heard this remix, I could not believe it. Many people called me because of that and I do not understand what had happened. The concern is that I do not even know who released the song! It remains a mystery. Why did they do that? Where did this rap originate? How were they taken? In fact, we knew nothing about this story, me nor Michael. We really do not understand where this leak came come...

Q: There are still a few weeks, nobody knew where this track originate, and how Michael Jackson had been involved in this project.

F: Yeah, I know it's crazy. The name of the song was not even good![Dr. Freeze humming the chorus of the song on the phone: "Your no friend of mine, what you put me through, now I'm the blue gangsta nah..."] Was just the chorus. This highlights the ignorance of people who are causing the leaks on the internet: they take the song and put it online without knowing its origin.

Q: For fans, they did not really understand how it could be proposed. It was weird. We suspected that something was amiss, but we did not know exactly what...

F: Yes, the song was not presented to the public as needed. A guy has just stolen the song, added a rap, and swung it on the net. I was not even credited, any more than Michael! She just landed here without any logical explanation...

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

They have cheapened the instrumental from even that leak we had, it's too thin there is absolutely nothing rich in the mid section to fatten the mix and groove, it just sounds like hollow air the chords are lost over a lot of thin cheap sounding stuff up top, the bridge has been massacred, i loved the original way that sounded, especially the rising chord sequence out of it that was like proper dance music, this is a dire alternative. However they try and sugar coat it as a vocalist and a vocalist alone, Justin gets destroyed by Michael in every way, i swear they've processed Micheal's voice a bit at times to make the embarrassing gulf appear closer (ie made Michael's voice sound worse) For the contrast in the two voices see around 2:49 when Michael goes 'Danced to a beat of her own' and Justin does some add libb, well done for trying and all that, but it doesn't do either artist any favours, it cheapens Michael and makes Justin seem out of his depth. I don't mind the idea of doing this as a duet, but they seriously need to redo that instrumental more in the style of the other one, but higher quality, fatter drums, luscious rich dance synths in the middle (ditch the silly organ things in this version). And get a current star or whatever that's voice will work ok and won't get totally eaten alive by Michael to do it and release it that way, then you could have a number one literally, like this it's just a waste of a hit record, i swear anyone involved in the mainstream music industry has completely and utterly lost the plot today..............

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

You're mixing this up with the unauthorized bootleg by Tempamental and DJ Scoob Doo. Pras received the track from the producer, MJ granted the usage of his vocals. (Sony had no copyright to the song back then.)

I see I mixed up the title myself. Pras' version is named "No Friend Of Mine", I wrote "Gangsta" which is the name of the bootleg from Tempamental and DJ Scoob Doo.
In that interview Dr. Freeze is referring to the bootleg only (the Pras version has full verses).

Looks like they're going with Michael Jackson ft. Justin Bieber - thank god. http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/justin-bieber/news/new-song-michael-jackson-slave-rhythm/

For anyone daring to say "don't blame the Estate", don't even try.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Look what the F*** the Estate are missing. Radios are playing the song, you know why? Because STTR itself was radio material. Should have released it longtime ago. Only then, it would just say "Michael Jackson - Slave TO The Rhythm"

You screwed up, and this was your last chance.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Times like this especially I wish MJ was still here

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

They took a massive piss all over MJ's grave

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Are they managing MJ or Bieber after all?

No way I'm spending my money on ANY releases.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Admins get in touch with the estate and see what this is all about!!!!

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

The fact that Justin Bieber did this makes me hate him even more. If he really loved and respected Michael then he would not have gone anywhere near MJ's music. Bieber is a disrespectful little punk

Exactly!

Pay tributes all you want, talk good and positive about MJ all you want! Get inspired all you want!

But don't come here and interrupts MJ in his own vocally finished song with your own shit.

Re: Someone's mixed STTR with Bieber

Someone wrote this on Twitter, which may give a little hope still that maybe it's not official:

SmoovARt said it best on twitter:

"The best thing that can happen is the demand for Michael's version is so high, the Estate works it out with the one (Possibly Rodney Jerkins) who controls the track. That may have been the plan all along. it was probably leaked because the Estate said no.. Rodney may have had the song, but in order for Michael's voice to be on the album the state has to approve. When thieves don't get approval , they just leak it"

BTW, who wrote the song?
