I think the problem was the announce and not the commercial. MJ used his songs to sell in the past. Pepsi, shoes etc. If there's something coming, this is a way to put the song out before even being released.

Also this is like the 'best cell phone ever' (or thats how they sell it) and they chose the best of Sony to put music to the commercial, which is Michael Jackson

Compared with competitors, the Z2 is weak, that's not the highest or high-end configuration.

Yes, for sony mobile it's their new flagship product, but it's still too weak if we compare with iPhones etc.

For the fans, all doesn't matter, only matter is the new Remix is tooooooooooooo weak, so hard to hear...
It should be a joke.

Tricky's mix sounds like crap compared to this. That's why his version was rejected for MICHAEL album and once again rejected for this project.

I honestly don't get the negativity and the disappointment.

You don't possibly think this is the only news we're going to get in the near future... Why would they waste a such a great song on a smartphone commercial (for like 10 sec of MJ voice) as if it was written as jingle - if they had no intention releasing it later? They put the MJ.COM address on the end of the video stating what song was used - Why would they do that if there's no actual chance to hear the song on the website once you get there? Plus, sounds like a whole new production - which fits Timbaland's style. And we know he's working on new tracks for a new album.

Think about it the commercial is not for the fans - it's for the wider crowds. Most people hear the song for the first time and if they like it and see "Featuring the song" at the end of the video - They're going to check the website... and then what? nothing? Obviously something IS coming and I think it's safe to say it's not the only announcement coming.

For once stop looking at it from the fans' prespective. This Sony Xperia commercial is obviously not about making you happy... I THINK It's more about exposing the song to the worldwide, non-fan community for the first time.


Now I can't actually say I KNOW anything but it's really to soon to bang your heads against anything espcially when it doesn't look like the end of it. The last slide in the commercial directs to the website and there's still nothing there. Now *this* looks like the beginning of something.

Yes. Thank you. I think people need to just chill their beans, have a little patience, and give the estate half a chance. This negativity is not going to get us anywhere.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a lot of fans complaining on here that previous releases have suffered from a lack of promotion. And that's clearly what this is - a marketing strategy that will expose the upcoming release to wider audiences, while Sony gets to promote their new product. Win, win for them? Seems like a great way of getting people to hear the music to me. I can think of numerous songs used in Apple commercials which have experienced huge success as a result. e.g.

I just don't think its really fair for us to complain, when this is what people have been asking for for months. Not all fans want a number one hit and incredible sales. To me, that's not important. But for those who do, it doesn't seem right to balk at this one. It doesn't seem fair either to judge the quality of the remix in this short and clearly edited snippet (especially when no one has even heard Michael's original). Can't we hold off judgement until we have the full releases? I feel like people need to just calm down a little and start seeing the positives rather than exclusively focusing on all the perceived negatives.

The announcement will come eventually.. To me, this just sounds like the start of everything. We just need to be patient a little longer right? In a way, this just means that more people will be listening out for it.

I'm actually pretty satisfied. I don't care about the mobile, but I think it's good promo. Music sounds great, classic Timbaland production. I hope they will release it as a single as soon as possible. When Tricky's version leaked in 2010 I was very disappointed and I never really liked the song because of that horrible techno mix. Now, with this new instrumentation and professional production it sounds like a complete song and I like it very much.

I just hope we'll get Fan Special Edition Bonus Disc with original versions like Damien Shields had stated few months ago. That would be the best release since This Is It.

I prefer tricky's finished mix to this new version. this sounds like cheap computer processed clubland, it will never be a classic if it sounds like this on the album. only way HARDCORE fans will be satisfied is if we get the demo's. #FACT

I hope you're right. But I think it's more realistic that at least few weeks will pass before anything is released and they go to "phase 2". It takes time till a song/commercial gets noticed. If you're not a fan of something you only will notice it once it's already released and other people are buying it, not weeks/months in advance.

Well, I love what I heard, because I love what Timbaland created during his career, I am speaking for myself.

I understand where you're coming from though, but MJ is no longer with us to oversee these projects. I am glad that this song finally will be heard.

I think it's great. Everything is on laptops, ipads or phones now a days. Michael was always trying to be ahead with how he did things and how he promoted things. This is just another avenue to make people aware of things related to Michael.

I hope I don't come across rude here but everything always seems to get knocked down before we see the entire package and we are judging too fast. We want the best for Michael and it can't always be what we want. They have to reach out to the rest of the world. I want to try to keep an open mind.

Maybe we'll get the original version too (like Damien Shields stated). I doubt we'll get the Demo too. But you should try to understand that they want this to be global, massive and not just for the hardcore fans. Michael would never release a full/new album with unfinished versions and demos.

I do like what i heard too, MJ vocals are a lot clearer, almost accapella like. Hopefully a new album announcement is close too.

I'm not going to buy this phone as I'm happy with the one I have already, but I am happy to see they have chosen MJ to front of their campaign. They could have chosen any of the current hot artist (who ever that they might be) out there, but they chose Michael. In my book that is great.

I am happy about the partnership, it is things like this that keeps the brand alive and floating for other generations too see. Not just releasing music but also doing it tactically in a way that intergrates it with different plattforms.
