The Estate of Michael Jackson enters partnership with Sony Mobile

Before you start hating new songs/album. Remember the MICHAEL album and be grateful that we are getting real songs this time.

All we can talk now are small things compared what happened last time. Remember that and put it in a perspective.
The new remix is not acceptable.

I saw some posts in other places where people said that they are "milinkg MJ's image for this campaign". I really can't believe people chose to see things this way.

Me too. I also can't believe influx of negativity that has accompanied with this announcement.

The worst MJ fans in the world are...MJ fans. No offence to anyone, but I am on many musical forums and MJ fans are most hard to please.

We get this -> too commercial -> boycotting -> low album sales.

We get raw demos -> not enough -> boycotting -> low album sales.

We get MICHAEL -> not enough promo.

We get this -> milking Michael's image.

What the actual F, guys?

hmm, the commercial has had over 63,000 hits on YouTube, good for Sony, good for Michael :)

it's not hard to please us, the hardcore Michael Jackson fans prefer his true vision. not some attempt at a 21st century remix.

Thriler 25 *cough cough*

Even if it was full of $hit remixes, it sold well because MJ was alive and no one boycotted the project, And by well I mean VERY well.

I'm glad now there are some positive opinions around also...
It's embarrassing to think that the estate or it's online team are following this constant negativity, all the more if it's shown in such immature ways!

Some guys in here need to seriously perform some sort of reality check. And before that, they should cut the immaturity.

The leaked version of Slave to the Rhythm is a mix done by Tricky Stewart in 2010. He himself even said that he completely ignored the music from the original version and wanted to do something different. That isn't Michael's true vision. Besides, it IS impossible to please fans. Give them remixed songs (MICHAEL)? It's disrespecting Michael's vision. Give them original demos (BAD 25)? They didn't release enough + the songs aren't as good as they should be. Fans are just greedy, plain and simple.

I'm done. This is seriously so unbelievable. This is my last post for some time. (Additionally, this entire post isn't directed at you, Zakk. I just don't want to double post.)

Slave to the Rhythm is not a good song. The vocals are phenomenal, but Tricky's new update on it is absolutely terrible. It's hollow, it's bland, and it lacks anything that I could envision Michael Jackson releasing himself. Timbaland's mix, however, has potential. (Is it even confirmed that this IS mixed by Timbaland? I haven't seen anything yet.) It has great strings, a beautiful atmosphere, and its beat has the characteristics of something Michael would release. Granted, it could be better and I understand if fans didn't like it, but personally, I think it's great.

Now think about this. They're using a Michael Jackson song in a television advertisement that will be played on hundreds of television stations across the globe. They could have used any other artist, any other song that is hitting the charts right now, but they chose Michael. This is the best promotion you could ever dream of. So what's the problem here? I've seen so many fans consistently complain that Sony wasn't giving Michael's music the promotion it deserves, and now they offer an amazing idea that could very easily score Michael another hit, and you're complaining? Hell, Michael sold a Beatles song to be used in a Walkman avert in the late '80s/early '90s. I'm sure Beatles fans felt the same way as some of you do now.

I will say that I acknowledge why some of you may not like this. And again, everyone has opinions. But this is the first true effort I've seen Sony put in to promoting a Michael Jackson release in five years, and the fact that you're complaining about it is utterly disgusting. I apologize, but certain people on here don't deserve anything if all they do is beg the Estate and excite the fans and then complain when something big happens.

I'm on the verge of leaving the boards because it truly seems some fans are just so unappreciative. I understand not liking the process, but this is one song. There is a whole album coming. Even if you hate it, at least admit that it's a great marketing plan.

Okay, rant over.

Like I said from day 1. New versions + Original versions - fake songs = success & high album sales!

yes but Michael gave us the original versions. it wasn't just the remixes, plus i loved the remix of starting something. beautiful that was. it's disgraceful. i'm gonna boycott this whole thing if this is the standard that will be released.

I think MJ fans have the right to be the most hard to please especially those who have been a fan since since 2001 and before that. After Invincible they got a collection of demos 3 years later and then waited another 4 more years for a few more demos on Thriller25 and then 2 years later got the Michael album with fake and over-produced songs. Fortunately that isn't me only discovering MJ in 2008. But I can see why some may feel dissatisfied and eager for new songs when they've waited the same time between MJ would release albums to get demos for the last decade.

Original versions of what? Of Thriller? Sorry, I already had the albums the 249593853 times it was re-released before.

If I was the estate at the moment I'd release only greatest hits CDs for 10 years. So people would get sick of "original versions" for a lifetime.

Michael also allowed the release of Carousel, Got The Hots & For all time. 3 brand new song's that were left unedited from the original sessions. at least when Michael was here, he didn't let people deface his music with there cheap productions on what they think is art.

You mean 1 minute of Carousel and Got The Hots only in Japan. Don't alter the facts, my friend.

Well, you are on person this board needs. It's would be sad if the negativity stops you from coming here, but i understand where you coming from. I feel the exact same way & won't let these "desktop-djangos" or "www-avengers" ruin my MJ experience anymore. It's just laughable with what fans are coming up nowadays.

i'm outta here, i can't believe you people enjoy this production. it's disgraceful and is so far away from the original vision. i care about demo's. but this, this is laughable.

Get out with your "true fan" shit already.

Michael encouraged the release of five remixes that are essentially universally hated by fans. These remixes are of some of the most influential and best-selling songs in history.

Carousel had the second verse, second chorus, instrumental bridge and many of the ad libs cut out.

For All Time was finished in October 2007, with new vocals and new keyboard layers recorded for it.

Got the Hots is the only song that was left unaltered, and even then, that was ONLY available in Japan.

He didn't let people deface his music? Think again.

Come on people. This is a discussion board. We are going to disagree with each other around here from time to time. No need for all the drama and hissy fits, right?

Zakk how can you say it's far from the original version you haven't even heard the full latest update or the full original... lol

Just listening again to the new STTR it's really nice and sounds good but it's quite calm and I don't think it fits with MJ's aggressive vocals. So far I hate to say it but I think the JB duet instrumental I prefer to tricky stewarts and I think I prefer it to Timbalands from the snippet.

timbaland ad libs: puke. Clubland remix: puke. if there ain't no demo's, that's it.

Do we deserve them though? No. We should be grateful of any music we get. Tupac fans to my knowledge haven't gotten any untouched music from him. Amy Winehouse fans haven't gotten any untouched music. Notorious B.I.G. Releasing the demos would be amazing, but the Estate does not by any means have to do so.

We should NOT judge the whole new album by just hearing a few seconds of a "new" song!! Timbaland is not the only producer on the new album!

Teddy Riley had adlibs too on MJ songs.
clubland yea... but thats how 2014 sounds like. and what if MJ would have gone this way too? he wouldnt release an album which sounds like dangerous, bad, history, vince, thriller. every album was different, madonna albums ie. were different too (last had also this "club" feel).

song's by Michael that are released should be for the ages, song's of today are forgotten about, regularly a week after release.

I will celebrate this new experience with my girlfriend! She also thinks that the song is HOT and she is not a Michael Jackson fan at all, but a casual music listener! It shows that the partnership between the estate and Sony Mobile is a VERY GREAT move. It can show michael's art again, globally.

I don't care about the haters, I will enjoy this new song and the entire Timbaland collaboration.

Anyone with me? Say WORD!

Fair enough. Go ask anyone outside of the fan base how they felt about You Rock My World and see how many confused faces you get.
