Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Regarding Love Never Felt So Good...

"... it was mentioned that the voice, piano and finger snaps from MJ were on the same original track, so they had to be put on the CD like this."

This doesn't necessarily mean the song was sourced from the cassette tape, does it?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I've never said it is a bad song. But no way is the best on the album. That's impossible. No matter what they did with it.

Also my opinion is that they chose that one because of wrong reasons (McClain, Thriller era track).

I'll still support it and buy it (don't get me wrong).. I'm just disappointed.

You say you're disappointed, but I'm actually really intrigued to hear this updated version of LNFSG.

Maybe it really IS pretty amazing. Let's wait and see :D

They also said they had to cover up the piano, which was quite hard, means they probably didn't have the multitracks for the song

It annoys me how Reid said he only wanted songs that were finished I.E OUTTAKES.

LNFSG is clearly a demo, not an outtake

It has bg vocals, adlibs, and leads. Pretty much outtake.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

As explained by those who attended the listening session and by L.A. Reid. All songs used were completed vocals - all verses and chorus. That was the only criteria for choosing the songs according to L.A. Reid. Not anything else.

The LNFSG was special for the fact , the song had piano, snaps and vocals on one track. ( there was no master track) What they did with that song according to the fans who heard it is amazing and was certainly a favorite among them. . Even those among the media listeners said it was a great song. So those who haven't heard it certainly can't speak to that or dismiss what has been stated. You haven't heard it..

Once again, they are going to release a single before the album is released, just as they told the fans who attended the listening session and meeting. What the song is and the release date is still a secret kept by these fans. The surprize element is still a very important part of promotion. (just as when MJ was here) They have great promotions lined up and ready to roll out. Right now is the lull before the storm so to speak. Plus the media and fan reviews from the listening sessions is the main promotion at this time . Its seems to be doing very well. The excitement is building.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'll repeat that multiple fans have stated that the album version of LNFSG is awesome. I don't get why some of you think it's impossible that they could have done a really impressive job with the album version.

Because those that have heard it are all being 'brainwashed' into liking it, don't you know Ivy?

It's all part of the latest 'conspiracy'.:rolleyes2:

You say you're disappointed, but I'm actually really intrigued to hear this updated version of LNFSG.

I'm also, like many others, very curious to how it sounds on the new mix, yet, as OnirMJ already mentioned (and everyone simply knows, this song, along with the vocals, is by far the weakest song on the album. Doesn't matter what they did with it, as I fully believe they made it into something enjoyable, it's 'not' a good idea to release it as the lead single to represent the whole album.

Why the 'not'?

As many mentioned the disco sound is returning, maybe they will get lucky with that (not a pun on the song), but how would this represent an album that has 1: Much older sounding vocals from MJ (90's and 2000's) and why again a track from the Thriller era? I really won't believe anyone who is convinced that the vocals from LNFSG are better than, for example, APWNN or STTR. And to the ones agreeing with STTR being a 'boring' song compared to LNFSG because a lot is repeated, did you actually listen to LNFSG? The whole song is just repeating itself over and over again. And 2: As Pentum and others also mentioned, LNFSG was NOT an outtake. I simply do not believe MJ ever wanted to release this track on something else or do something with it. It's incredibly old, dated and an obvious demo (regardless of that, a fun song still).

Overall, fun and enjoyable song so don't think I'm being 'negative' here, because God forbid I say something bad, but seriously, with all the strong offerings we have on the album and with STTR and Xscape already having been introduced and hyping up the album, how would releasing LNFSG, a Thriller era track with obvious young vocals compared to the rest, be a good idea to represent it as a whole? People might think the whole album has songs like that (if they really like it) and come to the conclusion the other songs are incredibly different (which they are).

I don't get how you can say such stuff without listening to the songs. It's important to remember that you are basing your opinions on the leaked demos where as other people were able to listen to the album versions. So they aren't going to determine singles based on what was the best demo but they would determine it based on what are the best album versions.

As Qbee mentioned what the single would be is still secret and doesn't seem to be 100% confirmed but the people at listening session are really positive towards LNFSG. From the people I talked with I gathered their top favorites was LNFSG, Chicago and DYKWYCA. I heard mixed reviews about Lovin You. Of course those are personal opinions and doesn't include opinions from everyone attended the listening sessions. I also gathered that there would be multiple singles.

yeah I saw that and I'm dissapointed to be honest. It's fine if some people doesn't like LNFSG - without even listening to it- but just because other people seems to like it doesn't mean that there's a conspiracy.

All these semantics put aside, I'm really just trying to look at this positively. We don't know what it sounds like yet, that's all I'm saying. Maybe everyone will be pleasantly surprised and maybe the general public will simply love it and just enjoy it - that's what music is all about.

Strip all the details away and it simply could be great. We're debating about a song that we haven't even heard the potential of yet ;)

Believe me, I'm in no way negative, because if it IS the lead single then so be it, I'll still definitely enjoy it. And with the information that there will be multiple singles, I'm already happy enough.

One thing (for the sake of arguing, haha) I don't agree with is that I DID hear the potential of this song already, and that is the vocal delivery and the melody. I'm 100% convinced this song will sound 100x better than the demo because it doesn't have anything added to it yet, but I know what I can expect and it can never get 'stronger', as to say, than a song like APWNN or STTR.

EDIT: IF these are other recordings/takes, then that would be great.

I don't believe you're being negative at all...it's all opinion and that's totally cool with me.

And, nah, I am not saying it'll surpass everything else on the album, but who knows? That's what I like about all this mystery and debating about this - it's very intriguing and could build an element of surprise. Love that and I can't wait until May 13 :D

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Qbee
Would you be willing to share the impressions you got from each track? :) Did you also get to hear the original versions? How do the tracks compare to the ones we know? Im sure I will enjoy both :)

And what kind of input did they get from you and the other lucky fans the following day?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Hello

To be honest, the only thing I`am going to do is to enjoy the release of this album. I will give this release only positive energy.

Okay, so which album was LNFSG considered for?

And here's a definition for outtake in this case:

out·take (out′tāk′)n.
b. A complete version, as of a recording, that is dropped in favor of another version.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I really love reading your posts...Your enthusiasm is infectious :)

Thanks. Glad you like it. - I just try to be positive and support the album the best way I can.

Same vocals. All other songs have much better, fuller & stronger vocals.

There won't be if the first single flops.

It's a demo recorded at Paul Anka's studio for Paul Anka's 1983 Walk a Fine Line album. Demo, not final vocal recording, so not an outtake.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Some people need to maybe get outside and off the computer and get some fresh air into their lungs..

So many are trippin off of LNFSG.. I don't understand it since hardly anyone has heard it yet.. But it doesn't matter.. Nothing you write on this forum is going to change anything..

Just enjoy the ride and be happy with what we get..

It's getting annoying

So Qbee did you attend the listening party? It seems you are not quoting from your own impressions but others. You also said you asked a fan from Germany about the single. Where you there or not? If yes, please, please tell us your experience, we are anxiously waiting your impressions.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I don't understand it since hardly anyone has heard it yet..

Everyone heard 80% of it. They didn't have multitracks. Just imagine the leaked Demo with more instrumentation. That's it. If they had better vocals THEN it would be a different story and we could compare it with other 7 songs (or 6).

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

qbee, share some details! :)
or, rate the songs uve heard (from 0-5) by giving us the track number/order

Which is exactly my point - LNFSG is the only song on the album (disc 1) that is a DEMO and not an outtake, despite what Reid said about him only wanting finished songs that did not make the albums earlier....

So makes no sense to include LNFSG if we follow his words.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I like the song. I don't like the idea of being the lead single.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I like the song. I don't like the idea of being the lead single.

We don't know yet what will be the first single. There are rumours that it will be LNFSG but rumours are just that. Like said, everything is still rather flexible. If it will be the lead single, we will see how it does. I was against it being the lead single, but reading the reviews, not only from fans but also media reviews, maybe it can do better than expected. The current greatest hit Happy by Pharrell isn't a huge, great song in itself, but it's still successful, because it's the type of light, fun listening that tends to go into people's ears. So you never know. Such a light, fun listening may actually do better than something more "heavy" (in sound or theme).

I'm disappointed with their choice for the first single. Not with inclusion of the song on the album, not with the demo or the new mix.

Was also in one of the biggest movies last year that grossed almost billion dollars. Without the movie the song would not be such hit.

I think LNFSG will be Get Lucky-ish.
