Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Chicago sounds like an updated version of In The Back to me. I love it.

i don't want to destroy the joy in here,....but doesn't some vocals in "Chicago" sounding like the "Cascio-Voice"?

not at all, to me it just sounds autotuned a little at some points in the track! doesn't stop me from enjoying it though.

No, not at all!! - This is very strong MJ vocals....

This is amazing vocals, strong and firm! - And at some times gentle and passionate...

The vocal range and vocal abilities are absolutely stunning!! True MJ genius!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Maybe I am not an audio expert, but it does not sound autotuned (fake or manipulated) to me.

I hear great vocals - MJ all the way!

I thought that. Wonder why the need was felt to autotune. I think it's a shame. :/

same here, i don't think the falsetto has been altered though! that is Michael's pure essence, still love it a lot! looking forward to the demo

Damien did NOT hear the original version. He heard 2010 version Cory Rooney produced for MICHAEL album but refused to give it to Sony. Though he said Original and 2010 version are not that much different (Cory added new drums and guitar solo).

Also She Was Loving Me is not a Demo recording.

It's not true!
The 2010 version was not produced for the Michael album. And no one said dat it was edit in 2010. Damien said me dat. Sry for bugs xd

In the beginning of the song its a duck or an eagle?
Look at the beginning of the video. The cover of Chicago and an eagle :*****:

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

There is no auto tune on this song. Auto tune is BLATANTLY obvious whenever it's used.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

without reading it. but i hate German reviews, since they have no clue.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

He's calling Xscape the weakest song on the album xO

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Someone go find other reviews he did on Michael's music, if he did any. That will tell if he's a fan or someone out to make this album a failure.

Damien Shields ?@damienshields 4h
@onmyanger I have no idea mate. I heard the 2010 version, but it's not all that different. Just an added guitar solo and drum enhancements.

It is true. 2010 version was produced by Cory Rooney in 2010 (with help of Taryll Jackson). For possible inclusion on MICHAEL album, but when Cory saw what was happening behind the scenes (inclusion of fake songs) he backed down from the project.

Half of the people here claiming its not Michael on Chicago were the same people who thought the WOMAN singing in the background of the Snoop Dog Facebook video was Michael .... SMH

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Actually it's not that bad!

It's quite a sober not biased analysis. Whether she thinks the title track is as strong as we think is does not really matter. She's not bashing it either. On the other hand she praises STTR and DYKWYCA to be among the strongest ones on this album.

Also she says things about the reworked production at one point "not that MJ's recordings would have needed such, it doesn't make it neccessarily better as they were strong anyway" (i.e. in regards to the Blue Gangsta intro).

The review closes with "Michael Jackson sounds here exactly like in those times when he was on top of the game. Lots of emotions. Lots of falsetto. Maybe a bit smoothed and glammed up. But definitely "earworm-ish". We remember: King of Pop."

It's actaully not a bad review.

Says the album starts a bit slow with the first three songs though I'm not sure what he means, because he says: „Love you totally, Love never felt so good, Loving you“

I guess it should be LNFSG, Loving You and maybe A Place With No Name? He says those songs are OK, but not exciting.

He then praises Chicago. Calls DYKWYCA a dance floor filler. Says that Timbaland has kind of declined in the past years but Xscape could put him back on top. Blue Gangsrta: some special effects in the intro that according to the author the song doesn't need. Yes, he calls the title track the weakest song.

But altogether he praises the album saying it sounds like MJ at the top of his success. "Much soul, much feeling, much falsetto."

Half? I saw one! What are you talking about?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Considering the quality of the first two tracks from the album, it's fairly safe to say that they are all single contenders! very much looking forward to hearing 'Loving You' tomorrow! i'm curious of how that will sound, and also about the new production! This is definitely topping the previous posthumous album though.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I wish that some "fans" would stop whining for a minute and take a chance to enjoy his unique talent.
It's all we've got and instead of being grateful all I see is this and that and criticism.
I don't imply that we must all like everything but Michael Jackson fans are exaggeratively demanding!
We are not the producers of the songs, we CANNOT be and every song we hear is a treasure!!!
Too much analysing of everything because Michael is not here but if he was here and he produced the songs in a similar way, nobody would say a word.
All I ask is to let us enjoy Xscape and not ruin the joy and anticipation!
There is nothing left except for great music by Michael!!! Treasure it!!!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Written and produced by Cory Rooney, Michael Jackson first recorded 'Chicago' in 1999. He unleashes a torrent of pain and regret in the track. "I met her on my way to Chicago / Where she was all alone", sings MJ in the opening of 'Chicago' remembering a girl who lied and betrayed him. She played a double life.

Michael's vocals in 'Chicago' are fire amazing. Great track!!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I refuse to listen to Loving You. That's the one track that intrigues me the most, given that we have no idea what it sounds like or much about its background, so I'm gonna hold off on it until the album drops.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

That explanation, while true, is not acceptable for me. Am I to believe Sony did not have any forethought about how the single would chart before it charted? Does this happen routinely to their other artists? I do not believe this is the time for laziness by Sony. Fans are doing their job and Sony has to stay on theirs.

Actually yes, this is a standard practice - to remove the single version when the album version becomes available for download. It happens to all artists. There's no need to have multiple versions (in this case 4 versions!) of the same song up for download. The sales of the removed versions are not lost, they will be counted. It just loses its position, but a lot of the times the album version manages to climb back (unless people stop downloading it).

Good luck with that. I said that same thing about LNFSG and Chicago. I listened both.
