Xscape General Discussion

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I am not gonna listen to these snippets...these tracks will be streamed officvially in HQ in 24 hrs, all of them...I can wait for 24 hr for these 3 new mixes :D 9actually the next one is 3 hrs from now ) :D

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Loving You is in my opinion the best song on the album, by far!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

it has really gone downhill for me also.

And me....hadnt it been for the original versions included I would probably cansel my pre-order and get it later on.....in the sale bin :(

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Slave... My second disappointment. Once again, the verses are quite good, but the chorus is a major disappointment. Where is the groove and the rhythm and the weight of the chorus? It's gone.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

People, can you have a little patience at least and listen to the full songs before you declare the album has gone "downhill" for you and that it's "crap" and a disappointment?

DYKWYCA sounds a bit odd to me with the Gameboy sound or what it is, but I'll wait until I hear it full.

But I have a question: after Stargate on APWNN and now DYKWYCA - is it some new trend in production to add these 80s computer sounds to songs now?

I'm absolutely holding out for the full versions before making my final judgment, I love the first 4 tracks that have been released.

I think 'retro' sounds in general are making a comeback but I'm not so sure about the computerized video game style noises that are in these songs. Even APWNN has that kind of feel to its beat but it's quite solid sounding as opposed to the 'clicky' sounds in these new snippets.

My problem with Slave is that the chorus just kind of blends into the verses, the vocals are so strong but it needs that extra 'lift' to push the song on further. It gets a bit repetitive and annoying come the end.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I like how the album is getting better and better with each song. "Slave" is the peak for now. I hope it will continue to go uphill with next song.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

My only complaint would be the length of the songs. Slave is too short, as well as Loving You and Chicago. But especially Slave.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Theres so much futuristic elements some of these songs.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'm just glad we're getting the original versions. Imagine the outrage if it were otherwise.

Are you being serious? I'm all for everyone having an opinion and stuff and it's fine that you like Slave To The Rhythm and A Place With No Name but I can't believe anyone would think they are better than Loving You and Chicago. The album has clearly peaked with Loving You for me right now.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Still not heard anything except lnfsg and i dont want to, but your all correct the estate listened to the fans and made a verion FOR YOU!

If you dont want to listen to the new verions then DONT! simples!

I would not be surprised in the least if when we get the originals bearing in mind this is how exactly Michael ledft them, people will actually criticise Michael! I know that Michael would not mind constructive critism but Chill all you people The estate and Sony and doing a wonderful job of promoting the album.
The single is flying up the charts , even if UK i have heard it near enough every few hours. Radio 2 btw and Heart fm!
Look just be happy that Michael left us with stuff we could continiue to listen and also be happy that the estate will plan to carry on this good work and release more posthumous releases.

Be honest! WHAT WOULD YOU do if there was nothing left? I for one would feel Michael truely had gone.

This way it feels michael is still with us be it in Spirit.

Thank you La and Estate your doing great job.

Looking forward to Monday!

Terry

Loving you is my fave too.. but let's be fair here, if slave and apwnn demos never leaked years ago and you heard them for the first time like the other 2 you mentioned, you would have a different opinion.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

lnfsg duet..great
lbfsg solo..good
chicago..good
loving you..good
apwnn..crap
slave..average

I hope not. I didn't hear the leaked snippets. I think they might be fake.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

It's interesting, before I heard any of these re-worked I thought STTR, APWNN and DYKWYCA were going to be the lead tracks of the album, now I think its totally the opposite, so glad we have the original demo's though.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Wow ok, well I guess we all have different tastes...

Olivier Francois, CMO of Chrysler Group LLC, is set to announce a partnership with Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid and USA Basketball to launch an ad campaign backed by Jackson singing "Love Never Felt So Good." The unreleased song will be featured on Jackson's upcoming "XSCAPE" album from Epic this month.

Xscape is going to be everywhere :wild:

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Not feeling the new version of Slave To The Rhythm. Timbaland sucked all the fun out of Tricky's version

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Aside from the weirdass mastering on Track 1 (please fix this, Estate/Sony), I'm thrilled with all the songs and attempting to rank them would be quite difficult.

LNFSG (MJ&TJ) = Chicago = Loving You = APWNN = STTR > LNFSG

See? I can't do it. Quality's too consistent IMO.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

It's just amazing how you can be in such utter excitement and then just one post can put a dent in that excitement.

Not even Michael could completely satisfy some of you all.

I'm gonna embrace this album for what it is, I've been an MJ fan for too damn long now to not appreciate this moment.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I've heard the snippets, Xscape sounds like it will be good but it is meant to be an aggressive song and sounds a bit too upbeat. Blue Gangsta sounds ok but again pretty weak.

I will wait to hear them in full but so far this album has gone way downhill for me since Loving You. I'll probably buy the deluxe version just to get Michael up the charts and for the original versions.

I should hope so, otherwise it'd be a boring world.

The important thing to remember is respectful of other people's opinions.

This goes for the whole world, not just Xscape!!

I am being respectful, everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn't mean it can't shock me. As I said, it's not shock that people like the songs but more shock that people are saying they prefer them to the first 3 songs we heard.

I agree that the quality on the album is pretty consistent and in a good way. I even start to appreciate APWNN a bit more, though I still cannot say it's my favorite, but it's starting to go to the "OK" category now.
