Xscape General Discussion

Negative comments are comments too, they are perfectly valid, and they deserve to be posted. This is a discussion forum, not a 'only positive posts allowed' forum.

I did not say that they do not deserve to be posted, but when they are posted, do not expect people to receive them welcoming. And again, I am not targeting you, but I am saying this as a general statement. Negativity, just liek a smile, can be easily spread. As far as I am concerned, I'll go for the smile. So shut up (I am saying it in a friendly and teasing tone). :naughty: :poke: :hiya:

Yes, I agree, no comment should be exempt from criticism or reaction, neither positive or negative ones. But it has been a trend on MJ forums for as long as I can recall that people who dare to be negative about something are accused of being non-true fans, negative, cynical, narrowminded, Michael-haters, etc. There is only one place in the world where I can discuss MJ and it is a place like this. So, if for example I want to say I don't like 'Butterflies', I want to be able to do it without receiving replies where people just tell me to stop posting negative things. It's just a bit annoying, that's all. Let's all jam to the new music!! :)

Here's my positive comment: Chicago (original) is just perfection...I think it's my favourite song from Xscape ...Love the atmosphere he creates *sigh* ...can't believe this gem was hidden for so long!

The thing with such statement is, I have the impression that as if someoen was forcing fans to listen to some songs and under un immense torture and suffering they with huge difficulty crawl under that heavy weight of the songs they don't like and get vocal on the forum, when in reality a simple button on the cd player "skip" resolves the problem. :D

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I challenge anyone to say that they didn't get goosebumps from the first minute of Blue Gangsta with MJ singing acapella accompanied with the strings. That first minute, dare i say, was perfection.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The digipack is a lot more divine than the jewel case, including the poster.. it just makes the whole project feel a lot more complete. The whole album provides a very cohesive sound, it's a work of art.. it is within my collection and is looking stunning next to my other items. The demo's are more for the easy listeners, sometimes the remixes do become too much.. especially on the extremely loud beats.

The question is what equipment people use to listen to the songs? :D

No, seriously. A bunch of people listen to music on their PCs, cell phones and TV sets and then criticize. There is a huge difference when music in general is listened on appropriate equipments, loudspeakrs with suwoofers.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Fans wanted the demos as MJ left them. How could they possibly guess that you won't like the demos as much the leaked/updated versions? There's no way, so you can't blame the Estate or Sony for that. You didn't know it either until you heard the demos.
not quit true. most of the demos are the first versions of the songs. meaning the version first recorded. as stated before, STTR, Chicago, DYKWCA have updated versions by Michael, as he continued to work on them over the years. and the 2010 reWorks. So those demos shouldn't be seen as true Michael's "vision" or final state of the songs.
Only Xscape, BG and APWNN are finalized songs.
I think they also intentionally put the very first recordings of Chicago and STTR, cause they do sound dated or better say, have the vibe of the time when they were recorded. but the songs recorded after 1999, beat the remixes. even timbo and the rest had to admit that (see docu dvd)

That's true though. Equipment gravely impact the way we experience music. You don't even have the need to have an ostentatious system to get the full experience. A couple of good headphones will do the job formidably. :)

Pretty much. Even the original version of Blue Gangsta on the CD was not the latest version Michael worked on. The tempremental version that leaked in 06 was a lot closer to the version we got in 2010 but the demo was just drums and bass (with brass occasionally).

Yeah but this is an MJ album, I am sure I read a quote several years ago about Bad or Dangerous where Quincy or someone said MJ wanted his music to sound good on everything, from the latest top range HiFi down to a Sony walkman, xD

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

been listening to xscape on high bass headphones, does enhance the experience quite considerably! i imagine on in ear headphones, the mastering wouldn't appear to be as top notch as it is.

And MJ's music does sound good on any equipment. I became fan when I was listening MJ for the first time on a radio-cassette player with only one tiny loudspeakers 1.0 in 1987. I loved it! I was listenig so much that I broke several tapes, and in the end it was the radio-cassette that broke down.

However, when for the first time I put the cassette in my walkman that I received as a present, I discovered a whole new level of MJ's music. I was levitating in heaven.

So, sorry to contradict MJ, but even if MJ was in front of me I'd tell him that nothing is better than damn good equipment, at least some good headphones.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I must say i am sick of the sensitivityin this forum.
Why are some comments seen as negative, if some say's he doesn't like this or that song in this case remix? or slapped in the face with comments like "you are in minority here, everyone else likes the remixes". for me such behaviour is negative and rude.

I don't like Butteflies, have to throw up by YANA, can't stand HTW.

Yeah, most of you are exited to have something new of Michael. but seriously be honest, those remixes suck. don't try to persuade yourself or search of something you like in each song, so you can say they are great or the album is. in few weeks you'll be sick of them.

they could have been much better. the problem is, the producers tried to make something thats hip and in now. not something thats good, cool and great, that can stand the time. and that was Michaels main goal, when he worked and released music.

Its mediocre album. nothing more. the demos in the deluxe makes this release special.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I've been a fanatical fan of MJ since 87 and every time I felt the excitement and the happiness associated with his releases. Always hoping it would top the charts and it would be huge globally. MJ always loved for his albums to be huge in sales and top the charts, so i always wanted it too. Now, I still do of course but regardless of what happens, this album so far has brought me back to those days of excitement and happiness where I get butterflies in my stomach and I can't stop smiling. I know it will never be the same, but in spirit in mind and my heart MJ is Still with me, with us. I haven't slept much in the last week because regardless of what I'm doing after work I come home and the first thing I do is go to this forum, play YT channel and spend hours reading these posts that I don't get my "beauty sleep", but that's okay this is so wonderful right now. The feeling is GREAT.

I know I'm rambling but this project has brought out Michael in a real way, he is being celebrated and is thrilling the world with his amazing talents; whether you think this is a real MJ album or not, his name is out there and the world is rejoicing. I get emotional when I think about this. Michael deserves this. He was and always will be the most incredible, talented musician and entertainer there will ever be and with the help of us fans and the estate his legacy will continue thriving for decades to come. Hail to the KING!!!
