Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary - Estate Announcement Page 66

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

That Dont Stop footage is the best ever as thar was his best live vocal ever, the world hasnt or has never seen this Michael Jackson in 30 plus years

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

By the way, that footage of DSTYGE live? Worth more than a full HIStory tour.
I've watched this about a billion times since it hit last night for this concert footage. He looks like a young god with his tuxedo jacket blowing in the wind.

And yes, this thing about not understanding or mishearing lyrics is getting a little old. Makes them look stupid now.
Questlove thought he said "forks"? They didn't have lyric sheets back then? :(

The same paul lester who wore history t.shirts in the 90's and supported mj when working for uncut. You have to laugh at the fakeness of these feckers

These documentaries air on festival and TV as well so I believe they are trying to make them both informative and fun. I had the opportunity to show Bad 25 to non-fans. They laughed so much to Kanye West's "I don't think Annie is okay" comment (in regards to how much MJ asked "annie are you okay"). I think these things such as misheard lyrics etc are harmless fun.

I agree. That part was really funny.

Off topic, but related to "Annie are you ok?".. I saw this picture yesterday on facebook and the comment made me laugh.

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

This is why I usually play the version of DSTYGE off the Jacksons Live album instead off the OTW one. Wish he'd have done that more.

My friend thought it was "Keep up, with the bus don't stop".

Michael can be very hard to understand at times. I've had many people say it to me over the years.

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

This quality just makes me angry that they don't attempt to release a concert in this quality. Granted, this might just be from a short news tape or something, maybe the sources are limited.

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

awesome to see the trailer :) exciting!!!

Not sure if the entire concert was recorded in this quality, reason being that I believe the clip is from the Sylvia Chase news special.
@ 9:08

Typically with news specials like these, the news crew would only be allowed to film a certain number of songs. I hope this isn't the case for this concert, especially since it seems like it's from a film source :)

I'm actually with Onir,I just posted this in a duplicate thread.

Winds me up when they start talking about lyrics that don't make sense.

"Keep on with the force, don't stop"...pretty obvious it's about music & dance.
.
I am with Onir too and I also posted in the other thread. I didn't throw a fit when I saw it, but I felt irritation. But I told myself that this was only a minute and that stuff turned out to be cute and amusing in Bad25 (and informative. I didn't know Annie was the CPR dummy).

I automatically bristle when I hear or read the word "bizarre" because it was always used in the nastiest derogatory way possible. For too many years. It was never used to describe Michael as artistic, creative or eccentrically visionary.
The Tour footage was incredible. Absolutely incredible.
I'd like to know which one of the brothers got sick and caused the Triumph Tour to be cancelled here-I'd hunt him down and shake the living daylights out of him!! Lol.

Well spotted! I knew it looked familiar but couldn't place it. I think your explanation is very likely to be true (though I too hope it is not!).

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

My Project for the Day is to figure out how to get this free trial for Showtime.

Thanks. That's why I wondered if the footage was released in some format before. It would be interesting to see how much concert footage the documentary have and the source of such footage.

The Beatles wrote nonsense such as I Am the Walrus & Lucy In The Sky WIth Diamonds for God's sake!

They did this on Bad25 with Smooth Criminal also. Two minutes with people talking about 'Annie'.

THIS! :punk:

I can't believe some of you guys are still harpin' on about that Librarian Girl stuff from BAD 25 and similar issues. I think these little things are not only harmless, but downright endearing. The teaser sure looks good from where I'm standing :)

I also misunderstood the lyrics to ''Don't Stop Til You Get Enough''

I used to think Michael was singing ''Keep on, with the post box''

Can someone explain who Paul Lester is? Good or bad? Is he in Spike's doc?

Unbelieveble! Really?

If its the same one and im remembering his name right. He had long hair back then. Ive googled him and it seems to be the same guy. He seemed quite the fan back then.which surprised me as he looked like a typical britpop music mag journo.Remember his history polo shirts thinking i wouldnt mind one of them.

Ooh, there is a little chance we see you in the audience:D

Hopefully you behaved well and didn't do any funny like throwing stuff at MJ:yes:

I'm going to plead the 5th until video evidence surfaces to the contrary. ;)

Wikipedia says he is a British music journalist.
Maybe somebody here from the UK can add to that.

I figured that out. But is it positive or negative to have him in the doc? I'm confused because elusive posted that he "wore history t.shirts in the 90's and supported mj". That sounds positive to me. But I don't understand what "You have to laugh at the fakeness of these feckers" means.

Wonder if he's related to Mark "I'm the father of Michael's kids" Lester?

*waits for Repsect to post cause she knows all :D *

Who said he was involved with the documentary? I was just giving more info about him. And yes, this is what Psychoniff was referring to when he mentioned how Paul Lester thought MJ's lyrics were "banal". And yes, in this usage of bizarre, it is negative. But that is not always the case.

I don't know. I was asking if he's in the doc because someone mentioned him. I'll be glad if he isn't. That article he wrote is nasty.
