Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary - Estate Announcement Page 66

That is your opinion, not a FACT. If all you can appreciate about an artist is backstage footage, then you're short changing a majority of the development of the artist. It's called "Michael's JOURNEY from Motown to Off The Wall", not "Off The Wall Backstage Footage."

yeah, and no one promised there would be backstage footage in this doc? it's peoples own fault if they get disappointed, because they have high expectations

I really would love each album to be re-released like this..

* Original album w/ out takes
* The concert that coincides with album
* documentary about the album

If blu ray they could advertise the doc as bonus material for concert...

If it did ever happen, which is a long shot, it would take a miracle, if the Triumph Tour was ever released, it would generate more profit than any other project that they could come up with.....it really stands as the greatest of unknowns

That is exaggeration. The tour is not something that the general public knows and it came before Thriller so it wouldn't have songs the general public wants to hear. It would be amazing if it got released but there is no reason to expect that it would make profit like you said.

That's just false statement. Any album of previously unreleased material will outsell any concert released and thus make more profit. Just look at Xscape numbers/profit and Wembley concert (which was lauded as MJ's best performance ever) numbers/profit.

Better comparison would be Bucharest vs. Xscape, seeing as first had a lot of promotion compared to Wembley and was much better quality.. i saw Wembley on the shelf at HMV for about... a week? then it was gone completely, Bucharest & THIS IS IT! are still there after 10/6 years, just shows...

Im not talking about today's general public, Im talking about the public who existed during the time if this album and tour when there was zero controversy associated with his name

That public who remembers that Michael would set the stage for today's public to be eager to see him especially at his best singing live, and they would adapt too those songs in no time

there is just so much footage out there.. We are talking hundreds of hours of footage, both on and off stage... The estate could milk it for decades without being 'saving footage' for a special day...

Music release I can understand.. But or example This Is It out takes could drumb up another couple documentaries on its own.. we are talking about a guy that recorded virtually everything you'd imagine plus some..

Picture even a release of already released short films with brand new 'making of's'.. that alone woud be special!! they could have a new release of some sort every year for decades no problem..

Everyone know that an opinion is not automatically an fact. Very simple. Like your post...
'If all you can appreciate about an artist is backstage footage' ... and this is an insinuation. and also opinion from you and also not a fact. You can not caracterize someone only because he have an different opinion like you. ;)

As we know they didnt say whats in the special exactly. And we can just simply turn around it. No one said that most of the time only various people and not mj talking about something.
If someone told everyone whats exactly in an tv special, movie,... spoiling everything about it... its less speciaI/great.
Its for sure not my fault if i dont like something. Or does that mean if i like thriller then its my success and not mj's?

deffo I would love 'making's of' they would be lovely to watch.

Rob Cohen said that the real night that OTW was born is when they were doing the pre-records
for the movie (The Wiz) and Q had what he wanted from Diana, then he goes OK Michael (points at MJ)
you come in at bar 6 and Michael starts at 1000 watts.
He became everything that became MICHAEL JACKSON. (Rob attempts to mimic MJ's sounds and hand gestures.) Lol!

Yeah....I got a kick out of that description.

His eyes are blue. Michael talks about it in the bashir interview

Oh he did? Honestly, I have only seen the bashir piece like once, back when it aired and I woved to never watch it again. I hate how it made him look but I digress..
Marlon too has a very light complexion, as well as Latoya. They probably got that from Joe.

Rock With You from Triumph Tour is so wicked! Was that the same performance as the amature audio concert?

Just saw the doc. Liked it a lot.

Will buy this when it get released no doubt.

Oh my, what a great picture. When would that be? About '76?

Wet his hair before hand. I know he was quite the theatrical guy so it wouldn't surprise me if he did this for exaggerated effect, but who knows I'm not an expert on how much he would naturally sweat :p

omg im such an idiot why didnt i think of that?! lol

this was what was being said in the interview: my father has blue eyes. and when they see Paris, they always say Debbie but that could be my fathers genes, you know

Someone made the point elsewhere how he never misses a beat here:

For some reason that whole sequence of watching his feet just.... I dunno, it was like seeing something "brand new" even though we've seen his feet a prazillion times.

I was in awe of the energy and precision.

I'd nearly go as far to say that "I swooned".

:thanks_sign:

I wanted to mention this bit but couldn't figure out how to word it let alone find a clip of it. Lol!

But I loved how MJ hit the footwork to the beat. Without thinking....he just felt it and did it.
(Still not worded right. Lol!)

Thanks Respect.

But you are comparing the passing of one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time with a re-rerelease of an album?.....

No, not comparing. I said "I wasn't satisfied with 2010 tribute selection of artists either." From those 5 artists paying tribute to one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time only Usher made sense and only he was relatively big star (from those 5 artists) at that time. And Bowie gets Gaga. I'm just saying that with the money they have and the money they have been earning in the last few years they could have hired "better" (more expensive and more famous) artists then in 2010 and now in 2016. It doesn't have to be big as Gaga, but it could have been bigger than Miguel.
