Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary - Estate Announcement Page 66

I'll get mine Friday (per email notice). I'm cool with that; I can wait a few more days. I cancelled the free trial of Showtime, but can still view it until the 30 days are up. I'm going to watch the doc some more and the one on Marlon Brando. :)

USA iTunes Top Documentary right now:

#2 "Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown To Off The Wall’

I got the cd/dvd on friday but i have still yet to watch the DVD

OTW has a lot of potential. It's an album that appeals to the general public, it's a classic, yet it's a bit more obscure than Thriller (well, relatively speaking), so there's a lot of room to popularize and promote it further. Also a lot of artists of today seem to want to emulate OTW (Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharrell, Daft Punk etc.), so the documentury could be great to show younger audiences how highly influential that album is.

Who is the generation public

Anyone, how is the audio quality of the new master compared to the other re-issues?

Off the Wall along with Dangerous is my favorite album from MJ, however this release is a joke. It is basically yet another re-release. The documentary was mediocre at best , done in exactly the same mode as BAD 25 ( which imo was better because it was new) , it offered very little in what we already knew about MJ early years. Not even a concert. To me this is just yet another milking of the fans. Very dissapointed in this re release. Really expected a lot more.

I dont' see where it always have to be about fans vs the general public

people who bought OTW when it was actually released in 1979, they have a right to be viewed as fans to because they actually bought the album

And where did I make it a fans vs. general public thing in the post that you quoted from more than a year ago? Where did I say that the fans who originally bought the album shouldn't be viewed as fans?

It's obvious where you are trying to go AGAIN with this and it is extremely predictable and boring by now. If you want to go on and on and on about this pet theme of yours about "'original fans" (ie. black fans) vs. later fans (ie. white fans) then please create a seperate topic for that. I, for one, am not interested in that.

I'm not bringing up a race issue because it wasn't just black people who bought his records then

but the people who are not viewed as the general public used to be fans and supporters of his career

And who said otherwise?

You bump up a 1.5 years old comment, take it out of context and you are sweating to try to interpret something into it that's just not there.

Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'? Why?

Vintage BBD. Turning another thread into an absolute and utter pothole.

Potholes are best avoided.

This thread took a controversial turn

It's definitely starting to be very much off topic now and in very much weird ways, so this is where I stop with this stupid discussion before it goes even more astray. I'm not going to reply to any more attempts at derailing the thread.

Back on topic: which is not anyone's ethnicity or general public vs. fans but Spike Lee's Off The Wall documentary.

To celebrate the launch of “OFF THE WALL”, the documentary ‘Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off The Wall’ will be shown on March 7 to March 27 at Tokyo Ginza Sony Building.

@ innuendo - did you write that yourself or did you find the photo online? Either way, it's very funny

This whole chalk business reminds me of a silly thing I did back in 2013 for Michael's birthday. I actually ran into the photo of my b-day "message" the other day while checking the phone archive. Back in August 2013, while in the super market I found this really tiny black board (for kids obviously), got me some chalk and wrote a little birthday message to Michael. I was convinced he could read it from the great beyond. Silly girl, right? :girl_haha: The chalk wasn't all that grand btw, it was supposed to be colored, but it looked mostly white lol. Sorry for the O/T, but the writing reminded me of it all :p
