How Many Unreleased Songs are Complete Enough for a Release?

I disagree. Of the four versions we have, it sounds the most fleshed out and release worthy.

Honestly as much as many would've hated it, Bieber likely would've brought the song to the Top 10 in 2014 had it been released.

Yes and all the indication were good. It had more buzz than LNFSG and Biebers career has far outshone Timberlakes on the last few years. X

I think not. It’s a horrible remix and production.

I was talking if Justin Bieber would have released Slave To The Rhythm as a solo song with that production the year it was leaked it would have most definitely been an absolute smash. It was very catchy, modern sounding and that sound was really big back then. But even as an duet I think it would have made some noise

No, I'm pretty sure the "Love Never Felt So Good" remix with Justin Timberlake got significantly more buzz; it reached #9 on the Hot 100, making MJ the only artist to have top 10 hits on that charts in 5 different decades (70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and, with "Love Never Felt So Good", 2010s). I don't think many people even know Justin Bieber did his own version of "Slave To The Rhythm" outside of the fanbase.

In 2014, Timberlake was also more relevant than Bieber; his The 20/20 Experience was the best selling album in the US the previous year, and it had big singles. At that point, Bieber hadn't released an album in 2 years and he was getting bad publicity due to his legal troubles.

Ok you're talking about something different here.
STTR was not released and so therefore couldn't chart at all so I don't think that's at all relevant. I'm talking about the buzz the JB song was getting from the leak and the attention on social media etc, comparing that to the buzz the JT song had before it was released officially.

STTR was a hot topic but the JT version received far less attention.

JB's worldwide fanbase was and still is bigger than JT's and they were hungry for new material. It was those guys going wild on the socials that created and propogated that buzz across the internet.

Yes, when the JT version of LNFSG was released and promoted by Sony/MJ Estate and was picked up by radio, supported by a music video it did reasonably well but I'm confident that the JB version would have done better based on the reaction to the leak. I'm not saying the JT version was a bad single - it was very good, but as I stated before the JB version of STTR should also have been released IMO. It was a much better choice than APWNN!

anyway, you can disagree, but at least try to understand what you're disagreeing with.

A song doesn't even have to be released as a single to chart, actually.

You didn't specify that before, though. Furthermore, the remix of "Love Never Felt So Good" featuring JT was released as a single immediately after it was unveiled.

Whatever buzz JB's "Slave To The Rhythm" remix got was not significant enough to determine that the song would have been a major hit on the charts. Social media buzz doesn't guarantee a major hit, and it's not like JB's remix set any records on social media. There's nothing to say it would have been a huge hit based on social media. The remix itself sounds like generic electronic dance pop, too; no, I don't think it would have been as huge as you're implying. Maybe it would have hit the top 40, but I don't think it would have been bigger than "Love Never Felt So Good".

JB's worldwide fanbase was and still is bigger than JT's and they were hungry for new material.

That doesn't prove any song JB puts out will be a hit, though. I wouldn't say his fanbase was "hungry" for new material at this time, either; JB was still releasing plenty of new music at the time. And none of the music he was putting out from mid 2013 to 2014 was very popular.

At the time, JT's music was more popular than JB's. And even now, JT is more respected in the industry than JB is. I can guarantee that there would have been a backlash if an MJ song with JB was officially released. Furthermore, this was 2014; JB was getting plenty of bad publicity at this time due to his legal troubles and bad behavior in America. Releasing MJ music with JB at this time would not have been a good idea.

anyway, you can disagree, but at least try to understand what you're disagreeing with.

I understand fine. No need to be condescending.

Apparently some people have heard “Throwin Your Life Away” at a past seminar. Is it completed and what does it sound like?

I personally can't remember it anymore and I can say that about every unheard song there was. I can remember jane is a groupie though

Probably because he repeats that for the full song, hahaha.

Do we have more Information about 'Rocker' and 'Adore You'? I think I've read that these two are among the very few complete Buxer songs. Does anybody know when they were recorded?

"Adore You" was started during the Invincible sessions.

"Rocker" may or may not be a working title for "Rock Tonight" -- I've heard both things.

I'd love to find out more about the two, if anyone has any other information!

All these unreleased bodies of work.. I'd freaking love to hear!

Does the Song Water exist and do we know how complete it is? I think he sang a small Part of it in This Is It.

He didn't sing water the song. He was asking for water or mumbling about it.

There is a song titled "Water" from early/spring 2009, done with Neff-U and/or Michael Prince. Only the chorus exists. It has nothing to do with the Cascio track, and may or may not be related to the small piece Michael sang in This Is It.

I would love to see the Estate release singles of unreleased songs in the future, then put them on an album. Make a big deal of these final recordings from the industry's top selling artist. It always feels like such a missed opportunity when great demos are just put on album's and not released as singles like Xscape, Behind The Mask (should have been first single in my opinion), Best Of Joy and even Price Of Fame.

I wonder what their plans are for these unreleased songs they have? I would love them to release a demo or some footage for Mike's 60th birthday this year, like Prince estate did to mark his passing, I would love it be a completely unheard near finished demo but I'd settle for a demo of a released song or even MJ's demo for a song he wrote for another artist like, Joy, Alright Now or This Had To Be. Honestly not getting my hopes up though

Side note, this could be controversial , I would love to see Teddy Riley come back and work on the next unreleased project whenever it is. He is an extraordinary producer, who was a goo friend of Michael and has great respect for his artistic vision and legacy. I truly believe his hands were tied with the Michael project.
I still feel he should have reproduced Slave To The Rhythm.
Neff U is another producer, I like his productions on Michael and he has immense respect for Mike and I think he has a solid idea of were Michael was heading musically speaking 08/09 onwards.
Darkchild as well, his reinvention of Xscape was inspired, I can only hope there are more brilliant collaborations between him and Mike in the vault

Last year Branca said in an interview that they wouldn't do anything with the remaining unreleased songs for the foreseeable future.

There has been talk of a This Is It tenth anniversary reissue with additional footage for the last couple of years, which I wouldn't mind under the condition that they include whatever exists of the songs that weren't included in the final film ("Stranger in Moscow," "Dangerous," etc.).

I don't think Stranger In Moscow was rehearsed. Michael Prince said that MJ re recorded a bit of bit of it for possible playback during the show before they abandoned that idea but that's really all I've heard about that.

Behind The Mask (should have been first single in my opinion)

The Eric Clapton one still gets radio play. For me the other versions of this song are simply too well known to justify this as a first single. It really would sound like a cover to a lot of people.

Do we have a correct list at all ?

Technically no. None of us know everything that exists in the vaults, so any list that has been made is incomplete and likely is filled with incorrect information (which is to be expected given the lack of resources fans have).

As much as I agree with you on this..
Do we really want, what Riley,Reid etc have listened to,but didn't want to pick to work with?

Yep I definitely want Teddy Riley back on a project. Not L.A Reid if I'm honest. I know Reid said he listened to a lot of demos and said he picked melodies that worked, but that doesn't mean just because he didn't like them means they're bad songs. This is the man that preferred Timbaland's embarrassment of a reinvention of Do You Know Where Your Children Are over MJ's original demo. So as much as I appreciate him wanting to work on the project, I don't think his opinion is right

Teddy is brilliant at bringing out the best of Michael

sim was for sure reheased.. I heard it myself.. "waldo" played it for me while I was at the Forum on June 18th..
