I cannot comprehend some peoples mindset and how they think its actully OK to want to tamper and tweek it
I wanna enjoy just what M made for e us, JUST what HE created and what he LEFT us !!! not someone else's glaring version.


Tampering with something which doesn't need to be tampered with is truly selfish and it is entirely idiotic. just because technology has changed doesnt mean some shmuck can suddenly wipe out m's vision and try to better it . who gives someone the right to try better his art all of a sudden. ?

I’ll wait until this gets a home release, colour corrected by someone like HappyLee and see where all the above posters are then. I’m sorry but I can’t see how you don’t see it yourselves.

Converting film is an easy job. Moonwalker has been in my collection for years. Looks great. This on the other hand does not. The picture is much sharper (as expected) but I seriously disagree with the colour grading.
 
I can't believe that there is people complaining over Thriller in 4K lol. Not even Moonwalker's Blu ray looks this good; NOW THAT BLU RAY HAS COLOR ISSUES. You all should be happy about the Estate giving us something amazing (finally).

I'm happy of course, but I can see why some people are questioning the brightness and the colour.

First things I thought was WOW that's bright and MJ's skin looks kinda blue/grey, but that colour issue seems worse on my phone than on my PC monitor so I don't think it's a big issue. more of an issue to do with the Samsung screen on my phone IMO.

Personally I think it would have been better to be slightly darker because the darkness adds to the atmosphere but whatever. I'm happy (as long as they release it in UK cinemas!!)

How can you? By not holding on so tight to someone that had passed away! As hard as it may be.. thriller 3d has very little to do with his legacy or anything about him. It's a project that most wont even know about.

This is the same mindset that lets MJ Estate put out crap over and over again. Long gone are the days of quality stickers going on MJ products [Dangerous vinyl for example].

What's the point of that? The original video is not widescreen, it's standard. Standard was the kind of TV sets that were around when Thriller came out. They would have crop off part of the picture to make it widescreen. I don't like when movies & old TV shows are cropped to fit modern TVs or when people do that on Youtube.

Thriller was originally shot in 1.33:1 (4:3) but was intended to be seen at the theater in 1:85 (or 1.78:1 i'm not sure). John Landis the director supervised himself the restoration and approved it... I don't think you could imagine how much it would s*** to watch a 3D film on a 1:33 ratio with black bars. For the 2D classic version, a selection between both 1.33.1 and 1.85.1 should be nice for purists.

They showed it in 1:85/1.78:1 during the 'Scream' showings. Maybe it will be the same during the actual IMAX release?
 
I think the brightness and colour issues is because of 3D.

3D glasses are dark and Thriller is dark. So to compensate, the film has to be made lighter.
 
I ain't judging it until I see it on an IMAX screen.

no, it's the mindset that it takes to find happiness within - without a person that was never a family or friend to you or me. You asked how to be happy! no happiness should be aligned with fandom of ANY celebrity.. I speak to myself as well! cuz I get it...

you nor I am a soldier for Michaels legacy, you going out and buying (or not buying a CD/DVD etc.) does very little.. We can show love and appreciation but in the big picture though our love might be big.. WE are not big for Michaels sake.

Yes, it does-it really looks beautiful. I remember watching the premiere-we all took off work and went down to the restaurant/bar where we worked nights because THEY had cable.
And it was GORGEOUS. I don't remember it being as dark as it is on YouTube now-and it's obviously at night in the moonlight-all of that is still there. I just remember standing there in the group-kinda far back-not pressed up to the little screen-and it was very clear and beautiful. This restoration job alone looks as amazing as the one I saw recently for 'West Side Story.' Looked brand new.
And I think Michael would love the 3D since he was so eager for that for Captain EO. (I can take or leave 3D personally, but honestly think he would love it).
 
This is something to look forward to. The nitpicking doesnt make sense to me IMO. I hope Ghosts/Captain EO get the same treatment...

Hi Annita, and anybody else that knows or speaks to the estate.

Can you try and please, please, please, get us some confirmation that Thriller 3d will be play in all Imax or at least where to see it, I am of course talking about in England.

I am really looking forward to seeing this and also ghosts if that was also turned into 3d.

I really hope they bring Thriller out for Halloween and announce Ghosts to show in cinema's or at a film festival like Thriller 3d was.

I live in the Bay Area, California and it looks as though all of the IMAX theaters are playing it with the House With A Clock but I can’t seem to find a 3D showing anywhere at anytime.. the listings even go out of their way to say “IMAX 2D”... I was wondering if the feature movie is presented anywhere in 3D or if they’d show Thriller in 3D with glasses and then the following movie would be in 2D... I’m slightly confused
 
Well, it seems that the IMAX theater 20 minutes away from me doesn't have it listed on their website. The closest one that does is an hour away and involves driving on a busy city highway. Guess I'll have to wait for the Blu-Ray then (which will hopefully be soon).
 
If they want people to go to the theater to see the 3D version, now would not be the time to announce that it will be released on Blu Ray.

I’m sure they will release the video and making of on Blu Ray and possibly 3D.

I think that they will go for a streaming version only on iTunes. Hopefully in the Dolby Vision format.
