Yeah, aren't cassette rips lossy in regards to higher frequencies? The wav files aren't so they must be from a lossless source

I edited my post above haha, the wav files can't be from cassette because they have all the frequencies, not sure where they came from.

Good quality cassetes cap around 16kHz, Chrome tapes around 18kHz or so.
My guess is that the leaked songs we got are transfers from copy master tapes
 
They don't have a cut in frequencies? How can they be from a cassette?

Haven't seen your comment up there, mate. You're right.
They sound better than the other demos in the pack, but not as good as the commercial release (vinyl for instance).

A copy from the master maybe?

Precisely what i think, although i'm sure that Starlight, Baby Be Mine Demo, Slapstick and others DO come from cassettes.

iirc Baby Be Mine and Slapstick don't even reach 15kHz, remember that just because there's noise above 20kHz it doesn't mean it's lossless.
If you use Spek, the blue colored stuff is just noise, and cassette spectrograms all have noise that obviously reaches way above 22kHz.

But to be completely fair with you, i'm going off of memory here, i'm probably wrong lol
 
Folks, please keep this thread focused on T40. There are other threads discussing everything else that is going on. It is very difficult to cleanup after 3-4 pages of offtopic discussion.
Please also remember to stay respectful in the discussions. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

No I think you could be totally right, they did look lossless to me, but didn't know that blue stuff is just all noise. Baby Be Mine looks lossy to me now that I look at it.

So where and when will Disc 2 be released first? In the Asian market before 18th?
It is actually special that the release hasn't been leaked yet.
 
4 days to go and yet there are still no preview snippets online.

It’s also funny how people have no problem with Sundberg and Porcaro profiting off of playing unreleased material to a small subsection of fortunate fans but then get upset when things leak. I say the leakers that ACTUALLY SHARE are heroes.

Damien is absolutely right on this. It’s wrong that this song is being shared illegally. It is not what Michael would want. Your personal attacks are conpletely unneccesary and frankly come off as some kind of jealous obsession. The work Damien has put in to researchinf and supporting Michael is incredible imo so just take a breath ok?
 
I do not want money, though. I want structured discussions. It truly is annoying that people do not know where to comment nowadays. We could simply have one thread for EVERYTHING instead. Maybe mods can simplify thread titles to provide a better overview for new users.
