Michael Jackson's Official Sales: A Detailed Look!

yeah..like i'm going to take seriously an organization which wants to go back to segregating, when MJ brought the whole world together. as far as these organizations are concerned, i think this:

So are there any updates on any of the these sales since last you updated the list?

without a doubt these number increased since smooth first updated the list

This official Sony sales should be available on wikipedia, so someone who knows how to change the old numbers there should do that... For many years stands Bad 30 mil and Dangerous 32 mil but the numbers are rising every day! Can someone correct that on wikipedia?

smooth Michael's solo units sales should be over 600 million units by now since its 2011 and with j5/jackson included approaching 800 million units

and in almost 2yrs he sold almosts 100 miliion units

Most of OP's information seems to be identical to what Sony was reporting at the time, however some numbers are too high specifically the Motown albums
>Thriller - 69.8 Million / 41 Million singles
Sony at the time on their website reported 70 million albums and 110 million units, which comes out to exactly 40-41m Singles
>Bad - 36 Million / 35 Million singles
Sony at the time this was posted claimed it had sold over 35 million. With single sales as of 2012 over 16m from Bad and Smooth Criminal alone. We have a plaque signifying 30m+ singles for Man in the Mirror, which can be assumed as cumulative single sales from the album "Bad"
>Dangerous - 35 Million
Sony was claiming figures of 35 million, which can be shown if you go to any marketplace where they supply the album. It will say "35 Million albums sold worldwide"
>History - 20.9 Million
Sony reported a exact sales number of 21 Million in 2009, a figure that includes the History volume 1 Re-Issue.
>Motown albums - 22 Million
Our only reliable source was Randy Taraborrelli who said in 1990-91 that MJ had sold over 100 million albums. Sony collaborates this report saying that before Dangerous he had sold over 100 million albums, however they also reported that Music and Me sold 2 million which is identical to the figures attributed to Taraborrelli. Meaning actual Motown sales would be around 18-20m
>Making of Michael Jackson's thriller - 9.5 Million
Currently cited as having sold 10 million, this seems to be reliable
>Invincible - 13 Million
Claims range widely from 8 million which was listed by Michael Jackson's unofficial site as of 2004, to people associated with Sony who consistently claim a figure of 13 million. Which is also what Smooth has here

I'm genuinely interested however in what figures he would have today

Since this thread was resurrected, I figure the poster above, who is always taking about updating sales, might be interested in this video, which is from a recent interview. It's not about Mike, but King Ad Rock from Beastie Boys is talking about one of the gold RIAA sales awards they got. It's at 5:25 of the video
