on their spotify there's also slapstick, groove of midnight, soldier boy by jason malachi and for some reason light man and the drill from this is it lmao

edit: they released the raisin ad song too this is peak actually let's not take it down

Hot Street might be the most heard and infamous unreleased song from Michael's catalog.

Honestly I wonder why he didn't include songs that he loved on the b-side of vinyls. Hot Street and Carousel for Thriller, Streetwalker and PoF (as a Pepsi promotion) for Bad, For All Time and either Monkey Business or MISM for Dangerous, Much Too Soon and Innocent Man for HIStory, Xscape, GYWOM and APWNN for Invincible

I don't remember which one said it, but either Mike or Quincy believed that B-Sides were essentially useless and that a song should be able to stand on it's own, something along those lines

Does anyone know which version of Hot Street was leaked and which one was going to be in Thriller?

There was only 1 version of Hot Street made, and it was the one that was leaked. If it was included on Thriller, it would've been reworked by QJ, which he never did AFAIK; Slapstick was only a demo

We worked all day and into the night on Feb 28, 1986 on "Bad Girl" including vocals. I'm not sure what level of completion. We never worked on it again.

Since it wasn't worked on more than that day, I can't remember how it sounded.
I maintained strict security, I never took home tapes.
 
I'm alright with "Hot Street" not being on Thriller 40, the song would've stood out way too much in comparison to the songs that ended up on disc 2 which most of them were nothing remarkable to begin with, so I'd prefer that it's saved for a proper album.

What still pisses me off, however, is that they put CGOOTR on the tracklist. Why couldn't have they put on the demo of "Don't Matter To Me" instead? The song has already been released, it technically wouldn't make the Estate waste an unheard song while at the same time it would still give the fans something "new" to enjoy. It would've been a safer pick.

They could have chosen Much Too Soon (1981) or Little Susie (1978) instead.

Because they would have to pay Paul Anka for using it. All tracks released on Thriller 40 were either completely written/produced by Michael or were already paid for. They chose tracks they don‘t have to pay for anything to anyone else as they didn‘t even want to release that album in the first place.

From what I heard although unconfirmed, Sony half-pressured the Estate to release a new album since they haven‘t released anything in the years prior and when Sony asked about promoting the album, The Estate simply declined it and the most minimal promotion was done by Sony, all I ever noticed was a single Spotify ad that ran only once here in Germany and was like 10sec long
