The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Where did the idea that it was OTW come from? just cus it sounds OTW?

Sounds like one of those '86 recordings Michael made. Very close to the Bad 25 version.

I doubt it's from Thriller though.
It has different vocals and a more complete instrumental. Its noted that it was leaked with added elements from the 1986 version

ah yes ofc the "MJ wiki"

mainly cause it was placed on Disc 1 in The Ultimate Collection, although even the (sometimes faulty) booklet says the correct date of 1982

yea unless it has direct quotes or links to said info, don‘t trust it

Who said it was Thriller sessions though??

There's not much proof of that as far as I'm concerned, but let's agree to disagree. I think '86, you think '82. Done.

Matt Forger (who did the remix) said everything used in the released Don‘t Be Messin‘ Round was recorded during the Bad sessions and aimed to create a true Bad version of the song

I don't fully trust the Estate's liner notes either, they are patchy at times and very vague.

Check the Ultimate collection liner notes for instance. Bill Bottrell is credited on "In The Back" (done after his time), yet Bill doesn't remember contributing to that song at all as he said on twitter...

It's about that Korgnex "redux" version, not the Bad 25 version...

Bad 25 version was definitely from '86. I also think the Korgnex "redux" is from '86 (it sounds close enough to the Bad 25 version) but they think it's 82...

Then why does it have different verse vocals?
Simply because it's a different vocal take Michael did.

There would be many '86 versions in the vault that Matt Forger selected elements from for the 'master' Bad 25 version. Some may have had different vocal takes to others, and Matt took certain parts that worked.

But the tracker itself is just collating from whatever other info sources are out there.

That alone is not enough to convince me it's from '82 though. I still think it's 86. Let's agree to disagree as I said.
then someone ask korgnex then, cause if multiple sources say its from Thriller, its most likely from it

We know Sunset Driver is from 1982 since at least the early 2000s. Bill often doesn‘t even remember what he did or didn‘t contribute to, I even find things I did just a couple years ago I forgot I ever did. A better example of TUC being inaccurate would be Unbreakable being recorded in 2002

You may have a point there.

In The Back was from the HIStory sessions and Bottrell was no longer in Michael's camp by then. He may have done additional work during BOTDF... But who knows anyways.

Korg’s is actually from the Dangerous sessions

I think people like Sven Nelson uploading the song as an outtake from OTW didn't help either

The released mix is btw from 97

1. it‘s very clearly when you listen to it
2. I‘ve once heard it in full years ago
3. Korg said it was
One thing: it's stitched from different recordings (including the Bad 25 version), which doesn't exactly help that.

How long is the full version if you mind me asking?

I have no idea, I only heard it once a good time ago. It was definitely longer
