The mix itself was from the Bad sessions by Bill Bottrell, late May '86. They should have included pictures of the tape boxes as well like other artists/estates do for their box sets so we know when certain songs were from too...

That's the one from Bad 25, Im talking about the Thriller take that leaked with added BGs

It was released on Bad 25 and that was basically a mishmash of all the different recordings made for Bad. Matt Forger said so in a Bad 25 interview for a french MJ website I remember.

Some elements were recorded at Hayvenhurst and others during the early Westlake sessions before it was abandoned in late '86.
 
This was an early Thriller list before songs were replaced during the last few weeks of the session

same but I wouldn't be shocked if they were either saving the tape box deep dive for the biopic soundtrack promotion or are all like "a magician nevuh reveals his sekriiss" or some bullshit like that.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean Sunset Driver or DBMR?

To reiterate, released mix on Thriller 40 for Sunset Driver IS Bill Bottrell's 1986 mix. Bill suggested on Twitter that MJ pulled it out of the vault and he just did a straight mix of it....
The recording's from OTW era but mixed in '86.

It has different vocals and a more complete instrumental. Its noted that it was leaked with added elements from the 1986 version

mainly cause it was placed on Disc 1 in The Ultimate Collection, although even the (sometimes faulty) booklet says the correct date of 1982

There's not much proof of that as far as I'm concerned, but let's agree to disagree. I think '86, you think '82. Done.

Matt Forger (who did the remix) said everything used in the released Don‘t Be Messin‘ Round was recorded during the Bad sessions and aimed to create a true Bad version of the song

I don't fully trust the Estate's liner notes either, they are patchy at times and very vague.

Check the Ultimate collection liner notes for instance. Bill Bottrell is credited on "In The Back" (done after his time), yet Bill doesn't remember contributing to that song at all as he said on twitter...

It's about that Korgnex "redux" version, not the Bad 25 version...

Bad 25 version was definitely from '86. I also think the Korgnex "redux" is from '86 (it sounds close enough to the Bad 25 version) but they think it's 82...

Simply because it's a different vocal take Michael did.

There would be many '86 versions in the vault that Matt Forger selected elements from for the 'master' Bad 25 version. Some may have had different vocal takes to others, and Matt took certain parts that worked.
