28/02/2008 - 1:41:51 PM
Michael Jackson is determined to stop the auction of his old Neverland Ranch home by taking out a loan to cover the money he owes to the estate's trustees.Bosses at Financial Title Company have announced they will sell the fabled California property at auction on 19 March unless the pop star comes up with the $24.5m (€16.2m) they claim he owes them. The 'Thriller' singer vowed never to return to the Santa Barbara-area estate, where he once housed a zoo and theme park, after detectives ransacked the property for evidence to use against Jackson in his 2004 child However, he doesn't want his former home and fixtures and fittings to go under the hammer.A Jackson family insider insists the singer will avoid foreclosure on Neverland with a new loan, adding the auction "won't happen".The source tells CNN: "The financing is all being worked out. There are plenty of lenders willing to work with him."

Thriller Time[/size].. reviews, stories, blog comments, etc celebrating T25’s release
Michael Jackson - 25th Anniversary of Thriller
Britney Spears has problems. Michael Jackson has problems. One of them created the greatest CD ever — enough said. In 2008, we celebrate a much needed interruption from the Spear’s custody drama headlines with the 25th Anniversary re-release of Thriller: the aforementioned greatest album of all time.
The comparison of Spears to Jackson begins and ends as a simple shot at our current pop culture. Spears, like every multi-talented (and I’m not counting being gross as a talent) artist who came up in the ‘90s, benefited from the countless foundations that Jackson laid - “inspiration” aside. She even took advantage of modern TV and viral marketing schemes that were not available to MJ at his time yet still fell short of accomplishing any lasting greatness and pushed no personal musical vision forward during her reign as the poster girl for pop princesses to-be. So to that, we celebrate. Long live the King.
This 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller features all nine of the original tracks digitally remastered, a new unreleased track, and five classic remixes from the talents of Will.I.Am, Kanye West, Fergie and Akon.
The classic songs of Thriller expressed what was “right” in music and are now deservingly immortalized as such. “The Girl is Mine” is such a pure and innocent song that Jackson says “the doggone girl is mine”. Who is smooth enough to get away with saying that on the radio in this day in age? Benjamin Andre (“I Can’t Wait”) is the only name to come to mind besides Michael Jackson (“Butterflies”) himself. Regardless, Will.I.Am comes through with a hard edge yet classy remix, making it the best of the bunch.
That honor would have gone to Kanye West, who drops his signature drums into “Billie Jean” but fails to stamp it with a clever flow. While hot, the track could have been so much better. The biggest surprise of the bunch is Akon’s “Wanna Be Starting Something” as he keeps pace with Jackson’s sharp vocal changes. Conversely the dud of the CD belongs to Fergie on “Beat it 2008”. Fergie immediately sounds out of place and consequently trips, fumbles and stumbles all over the track.
All in all, the CD provided a great opportunity to re-listen to a masterpiece. As you should know, the original Thriller had seven of its nine tracks released as triumphant singles. To compare, the last album I remember listening to that had any sort of similar substance to track ratio was Beyonce’s B’Day, which released five official singles out of 10 tracks.
Beyond singles, Thriller’s influence with music videos, production, style, choreography, presentation, etc will forever live on.
I wish nothing more than to have this re-release empower the Chris Brown generation to understand where it all started.
Favorite songs: “The Girl is Mine 2008” – Will.I.Am, “Billie Jean 2008” – Kanye West, “The Girl is Mine” Featuring Paul McCartney, “Thriller”, “P.Y.T’ and “Billie Jean”.
Final Review: At 25 years and counting, Thriller will prove to be timeless. Own it and pass it down to the next generation. Cop it!

Fall Out Boy
Chicago emo quintet Fall Out Boy have avoided the wordiness of their song titles by naming their forthcoming live CD/DVD ****.
The band's performance was recorded last June at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona and included such popular songs as "Dance, Dance," "Thanks Fr The Mmrs" and "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race." But the group's choice of covers might even be more interesting: Akon's "Don't Matter," Timbaland's "One And Only" and labelmates and so-close-they're-almost-kin Panic At The Disco's "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies." There's also a studio version of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" featuring an unnamed "special guest guitarist" included in the package, which will be released by Island on April 8.
The DVD features eight music videos, behind the scenes footage and a look at the making of the video for "Me & You" in Uganda. It will also be available separately from the CD.
The complicated-to-pronounce title is an homage to how much Fall Out Boy cuss onstage.
"Before watching ourselves on film we never really realized how much we swear," says bassist Pete Wentz on the band's blog. "Its pretty gross.
"And as for how to say the name, well any little four letter word will work."
OK. We choose "lame."

I was debating whether to include the ‘business man’ news today because of the Neverland situation.. but then I realize.. a successful person is not the one who never fails.. but the one who never gave up……..
Day 108 What the media don't show about Michael Jackson the business man –
Taylor Swift is Not 'Just a Girl' Anymore

"It's hard to believe a year and a half ago I sat in a building that'd be my label, where the walls weren't even painted, and we were stuffing envelopes with what would be my first single," said Taylor Swift with the "aw shucks, hey world" enthusiasm that defines her suddenly high-profile personality. "We were just hoping people would listen to a song called 'Tim McGraw.'"
They've done more than listen. With more than 40 million MySpace streams as of Feb. 16, three singles slammed into the Top 6 like home runs into bleachers ("Tim McGraw," "Teardrops on My Guitar" and the six-week, chart-topping "Our Song") and a self-titled album that spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, audiences and listeners are diving headfirst into the current unleashed by Swift, the first female solo artist in Country Music history to write or co-write every song on a double-Platinum-selling debut album and the youngest person to write and sing a No. 1 Country single ("Our Song") wholly on her own. In January, she reached new sales milestones with the digital Platinum certification of "Teardrops on My Guitar," and digital Gold of "Our Song." Swift joins an elite group of superstars with her digital Platinum status, as the only other Country artist to achieve this level of certification are the Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood.
"I realize I am a business," conceded the 5-foot-11-inch blonde who gushed "This is definitely the highlight of my senior year!" upon winning the Horizon Award at the 2007 CMA Awards. "I'm lucky to have that. It changes the way you look at things. But I know I'm not 25. I'll have a whole year to be 25 when I am. So as much as I love to talk about business, I'm still 17."
But Swift's years, risen to 18 since the Awards broadcast, overflow with a lifetime's worth of adventure. One has to study Hannah Montana to see anything even remotely like what she has experienced: Swift was just 11 when, having dragged herself to writer nights and karaoke contests back home in Wyomissing, Pa., she followed the stars in her eyes to Nashville. At 13 she secured a development deal with the RCA Label Group and, at 14, became the youngest writer in the Sony/ATV Music Publishing stable.
"I felt set apart," she admitted. "After high school, my friends were going to sports or cheerleading, and I was being driven to a songwriting appointment. But, you know, I'd go sit with my co-writers and talk about what had happened at school that day."
