I don't have a problem with those who Michael gave permission to make money off him, it is the theft of his likeness that I have a problem with. If his family want to use Mj likeness they need to know they are going to pay just like anyone else.

If Mj family was not teaming up with those questionable Characters To cash in it would not be so bad, but man they find the Most creep characters to Aline themselves with.

Can we see why Mj X them out of his life and leave his will iron clad, because they are his family he know them, so fan who are saying, need to think hard about Mj wishing and why he make them like that. I am sure they are plotting other ways to make money,

Jackson perfume launch causes stink

LAS VEGAS, Nevada: The botched launch of a perfume in memory of pop icon Michael Jackson caused a stink this week, as his father distanced himself from a Frenchman behind the deal, and a lawsuit disputed their rights.

Joe Jackson signed a contract with French fragrance entrepreneur Franck Rouas earlier this year to launch eau de parfums “Jackson’s Tribute” for men and “Jackson’s Legend” for women.

The scents were due to be presented to the world at a press conference Thursday in a nightclub at the Caesars Palace hotel-casino in Las Vegas, with socialite Paris Hilton and various Jackson family members involved.

But the event descended into chaos when Joe Jackson, backed briefly by his daughter LaToya, made it clear he wanted to avoid any physical contact with Rouas, head of the perfume company Julian Rouas Paris.

In addition no release date was announced for the fragrances, presented as inspired by the aromas of plants in the grounds of Neverland, the late pop icon’s ranch home before his shock death in June 2009, and aged 50.

“I don’t like the way he does things. But the initiative to create the scents was mine, and that plan goes ahead,” Joe Jackson told AFP, while saying her did not know when the 50 ml bottles would go on sale.

The Jackson patriarch played down the legal problems with using his dead son’s name, a money-spinning brand owned officially by an estate from which he was excluded in the King of Pop’s will.

“They can say whatever they want … I am the father, he was my son and I can decide what to do on his behalf and in his honor,” said the 82-year-old, clad in a black suit, red necktie, fedora hat and various gold chains.

“There are many interests around the legacy of my son, companies that want everything, but I have a foundation that allows me to launch projects with his name, the name of my son.”

The tension between Jackson and Rouas was obvious even before a press conference attended by more unknown models than journalists, and no members of the US media.

But more problematic was a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court a day before the botched launch, on behalf of Bravado, the company which holds the commercial rights to sell products under Michael Jackson’s name.

The lawsuit said Rouas and Jackson were “unlicensed distributors who have been using the Michael Jackson trademark and/or a mark confusing similar thereto … In connection with perfume that defendants are attempting to sell.”

Bravado seeks a ban on the perfume’s sale, as well as 150,000 dollars in damages and 750 dollars for each time Jackson’s name is wrong used on a product.

“Some people will always try to prevent my efforts because they do not want me and there are some media, like TMZ, that are against me,” Jackson said, referring to the celebrity news website. “But they can’t do anything.” a Toya Jackson gave her backing, albeit briefly, saying: “My family is delighted with this tribute to my brother from my father, the scents are delicious.”

The French perfumer meanwhile said he had known the singer’s father since 2009, when Jackson approached his company “because he wanted to make a perfume as a tribute to the memory of Michael Jackson.

“He is a little angry with me now because someone put online, on the Internet, the contract which we made for the perfume, but it wasn’t me who did it,” he added.

“The perfumes will be on sale in the US very soon, and in September in France,” he said, adding that a 50 ml bottle will cost 40 dollars in America and about 40 euros in France.”

The investors behind the project are American, and appeared more cautious about the legal challenge.

“The plan is to release the perfume wherever we have the final version,” said Zach Cole, one of Rouas’s partners. “Obviously we’re in a sticking point and we have to be very careful about it,” he said.

“There’s no deadline yet (for the release of the perfume), but it’s coming close,” he added.

At my father's launching party for his Vodka and Cologne here in Vegas. I'm very proud of him, he's still putting together deals.

Is LaToya for real? this only goes to show you that nobody will be able to count on members of the Jackson family to stand up for Michael! They will support everything 'cause they all feel that they are entitled, after all, its their son, brother, uncle right? please!

“They can say whatever they want .. I am the father, he was my son and I can decide what to do on his behalf and in his honor,” said the 82-year-old, clad in a black suit, red necktie, fedora hat and various gold chains.
“There are many interests around the legacy of my son, companies that want everything, but I have a foundation that allows me to launch projects with his name, the name of my son.”

Dear God! my head is about to explode upon reading this! No Joe Jackson, you DO NOT have any right right to use Michael Jackson for your own financial benefit! I have never seen a more DELUSIONAL human being! I swear Branca and McLain need to have a press conference and publicly make clear that Joe Jackson and other family members do NOT have the right to use Michael's name, image or likeness in any venture without the ok from The Estate, so that no outside person can say they got permission from the family.

It just seems to me like Joe saw Michael as 'property' and nothing else.....so sad!

He just needed a father, Joseph...

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

Joe has been trying to get the pat in the back for Michael's success for a long time. I'm pretty sure Michael would have been a singer without Joe, and he earned his success though dedication to his art, hard work, and talent. It has nothing to do with his dad.
As for Latoya, well, except for using Michael's kids to get the media's attention, I think she's trying to get her dad's love too. Sad.

“He is a little angry with me now because someone put online, on the Internet, the contract which we made for the perfume, but it wasn’t me who did it,” he added.

Has anyone a link to the contract?

Not the contract, but Joe gave some details in his own website last December:

http://www.jwjackson.com/?p=90
'On Decemeber 2nd 2010, at 11.30 am at Encino , Joe Jackson and Frank Julian Rouas owner and founder of Julian Rouas Paris Inc , signed the contract for seven years to release the very first perfume that the Jackson Family have ever come out with.

With Joe Jackson, we are 50-50 partners in world sales, television rights and advertising receipts,” said chief executive Franck Rouas, adding that a part of the proceeds will go to charities favoured by Michael Jackson.'

I wonder if they have 50-50 'rights' to the legal costs and damages to be imposed by the estate.
(PS am not sure what 'advertising receipts' are ..I thought you usually paid for advertising....ie money out, not money in?...unless there is maybe payment for personal appearances etc.)

Thankyou but the article gives the infromation that the whole contract is leaked in the internet. So it would be very interesting.

Oh my god, a 7 years contract. Hopefully it will not go to sell.

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

What does it take to make Joe understand that he cannot use his son's likeness/music to make deals. Here he teams us with a questionable source to make some money, and when Bravado sues he tries to distance himself from his business partner. If Joe really wanted to make a tribute to Michael, he could have contacted the Estate and give them his plan--I guess he felt he would not get much money that way. Let's see how much he makes now with a company that is being sued. I suggest that they change the label and images on the bottles and call the perfume another name. How about "FOLLY by Joe Jackson," or "My Son Money, by Joe Jackson.

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

That is what I don't understand. Why don't they work with the estate on these plans? Katherine could have especially released her book with the estate's backing.

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

Hope all these vultures will burn soon in hell. I'm fed up to see the name of Michael be used for money money every fucking time it's just about money!

I also don't get this.

Following this family, you'd think they were the only people that didn't go to business school. I've never seen such constant terrible decisions from a set of people.

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

Jesus, Joe's comments are pathetic.......
He kept thinking MJ is his son so everything MJ owned belongs to him.
I guess that's why they kept saying the will is a fraud and John Branca is bad person.
In their eyes, John Branca steal the money from them.
Someone should let them know that MJ didn't own them anything.
It's his wishes to set up a trust for his kids and protect their welfare.
The J family should really respect his wishes.
MJ did enough for his family when he was alive.
It's not his responsibilities to take care of them in death.
MJ's kids are the priority. What Joe did is like steal money from his own grandchildren.

OK, been looking some more and found another interesting blog, this one by Avery Gilbert:
http://firstnerve.com/2011/01/michael-jackson-from-beyond-business.html

This is apparently a picture of the signatures on the contract, which is shown in the 'Julian Rouas' video:

http://[URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/607/xperfumefromvidnoheader.png/][/URL]

The accompanying text includes the following:
Here's a picture of Julian Rouas, Again with that booklet from the memorial service. But there’s a new wrinkle: he actually displays for the camera the “contract” signed by Joe Jackson. Is that necessary? I mean, we don’t see Bernd Beetz waving a piece of paper at the paparazzi every time Coty signs a new celebrity spokesperson. Let’s take a closer look at that document:

“Travels [sic] arrangements”?

“all statments [sic] stipulated within this JACKSON fragrance [illegible] agreement ; are deemend [sic] true by julian rouas paris inc.”?

What on earth kind of agreement is this? Not only is it signed by both Joe Jackson and Julian Rouas, it’s signed by Cynthia B. Marven. Who might she be? Apparently a Las Vegas resident and mother of singer Crystal Marven, one of the talents promoted by Joe Jackson. So . . . is Joe her daughter’s manager? Or is she Joe’s manager? Or both? Oh, man, my head hurts.

[“Warning! This perfume launch will self-destruct in two minutes.”]

But you ain’t seen nothing yet. Google Julian Rouas and you’ll find someone’s been posting vitriolic anti-Rouas rants all over the internet. Some claim to be from models who haven’t been paid; others are colorful character assassinations. Written in a stilted, oddly formal English, they paint Rouas as an oafish, sociopathic con-man and warn people not to get involved with him. I’m in no position to know whether the claims are true, but they make entertaining reading. (Warning: NSFW).

One such diatribe did have a useful link to open court records from San Mateo County, California. It appears that in 2007 Rouas set up a Limited Liability Corporation in Nevada called Giuseppe Rouas Fragrances International. In fall of 2008, a guy in Los Angeles loaned him $40,000 in return for operating shares in the LLC. For some reason the guy got cold feet and asked for his money back, as was his right under the loan agreement. Rouas gave him a refund check but then stopped payment on it. When the guy objected, Rouas gave him back $5,000, leaving him out $35,000. The guy turned out to be the son of C. Stewart Ritchie, III, MD, a wealthy doctor and successful businessman. So Dr. Ritchie, his wife, and son sued Rouas and an associate to get their money back. From what I can gather, they reached a settlement with him (Case CIV485438 - C. STEWART RITCHIE VS. JULIAN ROUAS)

[“Warning! This perfume launch will self-destruct in thirty seconds.”]

It’s possible that the Michael Jackson Tribute/Legacy project is totally on the up and up, even if somewhat misconceived and ineptly executed. It’s also possible that it represents a cosmic collision between personalities whose sleaze magnitude is beyond comprehension. What’s totally awesome is that we’ll know the answer by March 7, 2011 at the latest.'

There seems to be another site with comments from Cynthia B Marven on it here:

FYI- The Exclusive Launch Party for the Jackson-JRP fragrances are still on.The reason it didn't occur in March,2011 as was originally planned, was because Mr Jackson was tied up with other commitments overseas. We did finalize our meeting last night,i.e.,Wednesday, April,13,2011 with Mr Jackson, business partners and associates. The official date for the launch is June 9, 2011, Lord willing. As of this moment, we are working on the official program and invitations/accreditations to our invited guests, sponsors, investors, distributors, press etc.,etc.,.By God's grace,we can make it happen. Thanks for the blog!Cynthia Marven

I wonder if she actually read the blog? I wonder if any of those investors turned up to the launch?

JOE, JOE, JOE....NO! It does not work that way! Michael fired u as his manger when he turned 21 yrs of age, wanting to make his own decisions without u. What makes u think in death it would be any different? Did u not read his will? MJ made it pretty clear, dude! Y'all can't touch his money or his name! :punk:

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

Funny to read Joseph's statement about this, seems like the old pervert only remembers Michael was his son when it's convenient (i.e. he can get something out of this connection) for him. Whatever Joe is saying may be the case when u live in a jungle but it doesn't work like this in the real world. So thanks God this old man is not able to freely use and abuse Michael's name as he wishes

Re: Bravado International sues Julian Rouas Paris (Joe Jackson's partners) in regards to MJ Perfumes

He say the contract is to sell 1million bottle of the stink.

So who find who, reptile have a way of locating there kind. Sorry to the reptiles, there is no other spices will take low down and creepy human with selfish money grab behavior.
