Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"
They are relying on fans to tune in to watch it to get good ratings. That's their "master plan". Trust me. That is why I keep trying to make everyone understand WHY it is EXREMELY IMPORTANT that no fan tunes in whatsoever no matter for what reason. Giving them ratings for WHATEVER REASON means endorsing them and helpng them in their plan. We can debunk their lies the way we have been doing it now too....once someone posts something that is untrue, go correct them and post them some facts. But don't watch and then start ACTIVELY debunking everything going "I watched it and I'm outraged" because that would just give them free publicity and attention and endorsement (because you watched it).. After it airs...LET IT DIE. If someone posts lies first, go correct them but don't start posting YOURSELF. And ignore the tabloids like The Sun, The Mirror, Radar Online, The Irish Times, etc....no use in wasting your energy on them because they won't change. Their whole business is based on spreading lies. It's wasted energy. LET T DIE. That's how the whole news world works...there will always be another shocking story around the corner and people will get tired of the old one and forget it. Let it become "yesterday's news".
I think we all need to have some patience and give the Estate time and have a little more faith in them. They already sent warning letters before the mockumentary airs. After it airs without HBO, etc. STILL having given them a chance to defend MJ's side or let them see the film or even agree to meet with the Estate...it could be that they have more ammunition to take some kind of legal action. Or they will have a better position because they weren't given a fair opportunity for their voice. It could be they found some legal loophole they can use and are just waiting now until after it airs for their counter action. It ain't over until the fat lady sings so be patient.
We will.
99% of the comments everywhere are pro MJ. The media is trying to do whatever they can to slander MJ but obviously the majority isn't having it. People are starting to see the media as it is: not trustworthy. Even a radio reporter said, when talking about Smollet, that "I don't even know what's true anymore" because the media keeps posting so many stories that it's hard to know what is the truth because so many media outlets have stooped to the tabloid level and aren't reporting the truth anymore but a biased twisted version of lies. They try to lynch MJ in public and destroy his image and that is why it's important that we keep keep posting facts and keep posting MJ's songs and postive MJ related things to fight back. And whatever you do.....DO NOT TUNE IN to watch the mockumentary and give them ratings. They can try all their tricks but if the audience disagrees and they keep getting negative feedback and low ratings they will be forced to re-think how they treat MJ in the future if they want to still be able to stay in the busness and HAVE an audience.
Exactly. This ain't nothing compared to 2005. At least now they can't hurt MJ. He's in a safe place and thank god won't have to see this and go through this anymore.(Which is exactly why Wade and James are doing this now and keep saying "MJ's dead." Because that is how they are obviously justifying this to themselves. In their sick minds they apparently think they aren't hurting him now when he's dead, so it's somehow okay.) I do feel really sorry for his children though and it breaks my heart to think what this does to his mother. But for us this is nothing compared to 2005 and we have learned a LOT since then. And unlike in 2005 when it was just the media who had a voice...thanks to social media now WE ALSO have a voice and can use it to fight back and to share FACTS to inform people on what is REALLY going on. In 2005 we didn't have that.
And yeah, this film would never exist if MJ would still be alive. 1. Because he would be able to sue for defamation and defend himself and 2. Because Wade would be too busy giving interviews on how he's friends with MJ.
Do a lot of people usually have HBO in Norway? Is that a major channel there or is it on cable only?
They won't. And as I keep saying...they are betting all of their chips on MJ fans watching it. If MJ fans tune in they get great ratings and that's what they are relying on. But if MJ fans stay away...Most of the publc is blissfully unaware about the film. Then they need to have enough free time first to watch it for two hours. And enough interest to tune in....not to mention...enough interested to keep watching. Then they also need enough time and interest to watch another two hours. if you're not a fan, that's one major time investement. people with families don't have time to sit in front of the TV for 2 hours. And people with families will turn the channel the second they start getting graphic. No parent will let their kids watch someone talk about spreading butt cheeks and masturbating. And if there are a lot of commercials, people will change the channel by the second commercial. I know I do. I haven't been able to commit myself to one show for years because I got sick of all the commercial breaks. I got so sick of it that i ended up not turning my TV on for over a year. And once I did, it blew up (literally LOL) and I couldn't have been bothered to buy a new one. They are expecting a lot from the audience to watch the film and like I said, a lot of people don't even know about it. I haven't heard ONE person mention it here and it has not been anywhere in the media here. Have also not heard anything from my family about it.
And what comes to the public....there have always been the sick jokes about MJ and name calling even before this. But he still sold out 50 shows in London. People keep throwing thoughtless comments and jokes around about MJ because they think it's "funny" but most of them don't mean it. And as the father of the boy whose nanny I used to be used to always say in the end of our arguments about MJ "I don't really hate him or think he's a bad person....I actually like him. But I love how riled up you get and how you start defending him so passionately every time so I'm just too tempted to tease you about him." A lot of people are like that....especially on social media... They are just trolls who get a kick out of getting people riled up but in reality they don't really care one way or the other...or are actually in reality more fans than haters but just like pushing people's buttons.
I agree with that about the estate. Let's give it some time and see what happens. It would be a huge shame if this is it for them, but let us not forget they did say that even though we hear nothing and they understand how frustrating that is, they aren't sitting still. Now it's possible that they meant the 10 page letter with that and perhaps the documentary that Taj has planned, but could be something else too. I guess it's possible the estate wants to see what the reaction from the general public is, because just like we don't take the media seriously at all anymore, neither does the estate. So their "reviews" don't matter at all.
I also 100 % agree with you about that fans really should not watch this mockumentary. Not on HBO, not on Channel 4, not on VPRO, nowhere. I hadn't seen it like you've explained that Reed is hoping fans will watch it, but you're right and we can't give in to that. I really hope fans that aren't here won't watch it either. And if they really need to see it, hopefully someone pirates it. It's so damn great to see all the positive comments and the ones that aren't are disliked and get replied to with facts. It's so motivating to see comments from people that used to be doubters or actually believers of him being guilty and now they have completely did a 360 on that. I've not always been a supporter of social media for certain things but for this it's a blessing really.
Like you said, we now have a voice and we can actually fight for Michael and God knows he deserves it. This is a huge difference with 2005. I remember how I tried to convince people on a certain hiphop forum only to be turned down. If that had been now I could have posted tweets with facts, the Razorfist videos and so much more.
Oh and as for people being aware of the mockumentary, same here. Back in 2013 when Wade came with this shit my stepfather did tell me about it because he knows I don't have cable or digital TV. I haven't heard him about this at all yet.
Nor have friends or other relatives. It was when I visited Hotnewhiphop that I saw the news about it. It would be wonderful if it stays like that. But I doubt that a little. My stepfather watches a lot of TV and I'm sure something like De wereld Draait Door will talk about it once it has aired on VPRO. But we'll see and I'll just tell him that it's a work of fiction.
And if my English aunt (who said years ago "why do you think he had that theme park") starts about this I will say the same. I don't want a falling out with my aunt because she's real dear to me. I'll just say, dear aunt, we'll never agree about this, it's a work of fiction, there's zero evidence, and these guys have defended him until the money was low.
Like somebody said at the start of this thread, where do wade and safechuck go from here? They would have told Reed everything that "happened" already in the documentary. If there plan is to release a book then they will just come across as even more money grabbing and fame seeking. This is going to back fire on them especially if the estate release a counter-documentary and the fans keep spreading the facts.
I guess it depends on how the media overall reacts to it. How movie websites and channels react to it. If they all fall for it, I'm sure the two or three shits will be invited to all kinds of talk shows and crap like that. My wish is that they get exposed, lose their career altogether or what's left of it. I'd give money to see these lowlives behind bars.
And we now know Dan Reed is open to make a mockumentary and this time about Chandler and Arvizo, well... pathetic excuse for a documentary maker, do your worst.
