Uri Geller sues CNN over Michael Jackson claims

Israeli-British psychic entertainer takes legal action against American television network for reporting he betrayed his friend for $200,000

Uri Geller is suing CNN over an accusation that he "sold" a Michael Jackson interview to the ITV network in exchange for $200,000.

The Israeli-British psychic entertainer filed the lawsuit against the American television network after it aired an interview in which he was accused of betraying his friend, the late king of pop.

Geller turned to a high court in England after failing to receive an apology from CNN, claiming he had fallen victim to slander in an interview broadcast by the network, in which he was accused of making a profit from a controversial documentary about Jackson's life.

Jackson's former dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, said last July in an interview to the Larry King Show that Uri Geller "sold" Jackson to the ITV network and to interviewer Martin Bashir for $200,000.

According to Klein, "In that interview, Michael was sort of assured that he's paint him as a normal person. And they painted him as an absolute strange person."

The famous interview, conducted by Bashir in 2003, sparked a row after revealing Jackson's odd lifestyle in his mansion. Geller denies making any money from the interview, and says he has been the subject of slander on the internet ever since the claim was made.

Geller's lawyer told the British court, "During the course of the interview Dr. Klein made a number of false and grossly defamatory allegations about our client... that he cynically exploited his friendship with Michael Jackson for personal financial gain."

La Toya Jackson – want to know more about her? Watch American Idol!

Yes guys, here is another name popping up as the probable replacement for Simon Cowell in American Idol. This time it is La Toya Jackson – sister of the King of the Pop Michael Jackson who has shown interest to judge American Idol after Simon is gone!
TMZ reports that La Toya Jackson and the ex-producer of American Idol Nigel Lythgoe had a rendezvous recently at Kathy Hilton’s housewarming party in Bel Air when Toya was asked to a guest judge on the show. It was before Simon had announced to leave the show and join “The X Factor”.

But now, as it is confirmed that Simon won’t be judging American Idol after the current season, the possibility of La Toya Jackson to replace Simon is under analysis. It is reported that La Toya Jackson is interested to judge the show and given a chance she would gladly be the full-time judge of American Idol.
Read what Jackson has told TMZ: “I would LOVE to be a judge on ‘American Idol.’ I would love to have a chance for the public get to know the real me. I would be thrilled.”
What do you mean by “real me”, hey Toya? Were the real you under cover all these years? If it is so, then of course we are interested to know the truth and hence ready to welcome you as American Idol’s new judge.
But hold on…you aren’t British! And can you insult singers? Okay, we are yet to know the real you, right?

The 6 Most Controversial Celebrity Wills: Michael Jackson, Leona Helmsley, Princess Diana and More
Who got the money? Who had the biggest family feuds? The mistakes that were made — and what we can learn from them. Two legal experts in estate planning and the authors of Trial & Heirs have the scoop.

Editor’s Note: Legacy Expert Attorneys Danielle B. Mayoras and Andrew W. Mayoras are the authors of Trial & Heirs: Famous Fortune Fights!, recently published by Wise Circle Books. The husband and wife team are vocal advocates for protecting families through proper estate planning. They educate both families and professionals through speaking engagements, print and broadcast media throughout the country. Click here to learn more about their work.
If the recent and sudden death of Michael Jackson taught us something – other than the side effects of too much prescription medication – it’s the importance of a will or trust. Wills and trusts are taboo topics. We’re usually far more inclined to talk about Botox injections or mammograms than how we plan to divide our assets. But (and sorry for speaking so morbidly) once you’re dead, it’ll be far too late to finally address it. That’s why regardless of your age and health (Jackson was 50 and about to go on tour), it’s important to have a proper will — not just for your peace of mind, but for your family’s peace of mind too.
In addition to the King of Pop’s highly publicized estate battles, here’s a glimpse at more late celebrities, who cast a spotlight on the importance of pre-mortem planning. From Leona Helmsley (leaving $12 million to her dog) to former Senator Edward Kennedy (having a confidant as his administrator), here’s a look at how these celebrities divvied up their estates – plus the mistakes they made that you should want to avoid.

1.
One of the more recent (and brutal) family fortune battles was started by billionaire Revlon Chairman Ronald Perelman. Who incurred Perelman’s wrath? Besides his ex-wife Ellen Barkin, his infirm, paralyzed and elderly ex-father-in-law, Robert Cohen. Perelman claimed Cohen had promised half his extensive fortune to Claudia Cohen, Perelman’s other ex-wife, who had passed away and whose estate Perelman controls. Despite clear instructions in Claudia’s will to preserve the relationship between their daughter and the Cohen family, Perelman launched a series of vicious lawsuits that pitted them against each other. Perelman has lost on every claim, but vows to appeal in spite of the millions in legal fees he has already spent from Claudia’s estate.

*Tip: The only reason Perelman could cause so much trouble was because Claudia Cohen named him as executor of her estate. Choose wisely when naming your executor or trustee or your family may literally pay the price! (Photo © Getty Images/Ron Perelman with ex-wife Ellen Barkin)

2. Sen. Edward (Ted) Kennedy’s will provided the world a peek behind the curtain of the famed Kennedy family. It revealed that he created a living trust and directed that all of his assets pass into his trust. Who did he pick to administer his estate? Instead of choosing his second wife or any of his children, he chose a trusted family friend and confidant, Paul G. Kirk Jr. This is a classic second-marriage situation. Kennedy may have chosen Kirk because he wanted someone outside of the family to administrator the estate to avoid family friction.
*Tip: In second marriages or situations where there is likely to be family conflict, choosing a family friend or trusted adviser makes good sense. Proper estate planning involves taking precautions ahead of time to avoid a family fight down the road. (Photo © AP)

3. While there was little he could do to surprise anyone given his past eccentricities, when Michael Jackson died suddenly, it caught the world off guard. The good news is that Jackson had a trust, the Michael Jackson Family Trust. A trust keeps affairs private and outside of the probate court — at least
2009_0710_getty_michael_jackson_85260630_0.jpg
when it’s used properly. In Jackson’s case, however, he didn’t transfer his assets into the trust and as a result, his estate went through the very public court process. The general public learned about all of the fighting going on in Jackson’s estate as well as financial information, such as his mother’s monthly grooming expenses of $1,000 and his family’s monthly allowance of $86,000.
*Tip: A trust, unlike a will, can avoid the probate court process when used properly. By not transferring assets into your trust, however, you undermine some of the key benefits of a trust — privacy, avoiding probate court and decreasing the chances of a family fight. (Photo © Getty Images)

Michael Jackson’s wish stayed unfulfilled!

Michael Jackson, the renowned dancer-cum-singer had a career-oriented wish that went unfulfilled after the icon’s premature demise last year. The ‘King of Pop’ who gifted the music-lovers immortal music in the form of ‘Thriller’ had a dire longing to work with A.R. Rehman, the music-composer who won two Oscars for his incredible scores in Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
“I met him two months before he died. He expressed an interest in working with me,” quips Rehman, who hails from Madras, India and has been entitled ‘The Mozart of Madras’.
Rehman was all praise for the original moonwalker and regards his encounter with Jackson as a life-changing event. “Meeting him was everything and changed my life. He loved stuff I did and I loved stuff he did. He was such a nice person,” Rehman speaks in complete awe of Michael.
And, the music-lovers, have been, undoubtedly, deprived of that great union. Had the duo of Michael and Rehman come together, it’d have, surely, weaved some spellbinding magic in the music-world.
But, unfortunately, it was not to be. Only, if Michael were, still alive!

Awesome or Off-Putting: The Return Of Michael Jackson’s Ghost

Awesome or Off-Putting
is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, ancient artifacts, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.
Say what you will, but upon being embraced by the cold arms of death, we really don’t thing you’ll change much on the other side. Nerds will still be nerdy, the dull will still be dully, and Michael Jackson’s ghost is still using incredibly sexy children as his playtime muses.
This time in Zimbabwe, according to a school full of witnesses.
Several Michael Jackson-y things have happened since the man died. For instance, his other glove turned up.

Janet Jackson 'Selfish' For Moving On Without Michael
janet_18_b.jpg

While it has been months since the tragic loss of her brother, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson says she feels almost selfish for pressing forward with her life and music career.

Speaking with Gotham magazine, which she covers this month, Jackson admits it has been hard to come to terms with his death.

"When you hear people say life goes on, it’s really the truth," says Jackson. "You can’t stop living. It becomes a part of you. I feel a bit selfish because there are times I feel I shouldn’t be doing this, but I enjoy my work and I have to keep doing it. I have to keep my life going. There are days that are harder than others."

Jackson is presently at work on a new album, slated for release this year. She also stars in the forthcoming Tyler Perry helmed flick 'Why Did I Get Married Too".

The Michael Jackson Memorial at Staples Center in Los Angeles gave his friends and family to open a window to viewers on television and in person to a view of the human side of the King of Pop. Among the many notable personalities that paid tribute to Michael Jackson were Martin Luther King III, Bernice King and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
Martin Luther King II and Bernice King Jr. are two of the children of legendary civil rights leader Martin Luther King III and his wife, Coretta Scott King.

Martin Luther King III invoked the voice of Martin Luther King Jr.,when he said that whatever God calls you to be, be the best that you can. King said that Michael Jackson was truly the best of what he was.

Bernice King gave a more personal picture of Michael Jackson in a story of when her mother was sick and Jackson called her on the telephone. Coretta Scott King was sick and debilitated with a stroke when Jackson called her. She said that Jackson asked her mother is she had music in the room because music had healing power.
Bernice King said that Michael brought a smile to Coretta Scott King's face and Bernice said she just wished that Michael Jackson could have seen the smile that he had forth to her mother's face during that time.

ALLOWANCE INCREASE FOR JACKSON CHILDREN
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Michael Jackson’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket are set to receive an upgrade in their monthly allowance.
On Wednesday, the judge involved in the Michael Jackson estate case raised the kids' allowance to $60,000 for the three. Sources cite an underestimation for monthly expenses- an error made by the account's guardian and lawyers- as the reason for the new amount.
The current amount being received by the Jackson children was not made available to the public.
