I'm guessing it's a photo his family had taken?

Maybe he wanted to show people that he'd known Mike since then?

Seems everyone is using photos of themselves with Mike or of Mike from OTW-Thriller

Maybe that could be another reason too Marebear, that that particular photo has some significance for Frank. Maybe that is how authors choose pictures or art for the cover of their books. Did Frank see Michael more when he was a child or more as an adult? Did he ever say what years in the relationship that he will be focusing on?

I'd say MJ's hair in that photo is pseudo-Black or White, albeit shorter. I like it, although the layout could use a little tweaking.

I have asked myself a similar question during his funeral for example, remember the framed pictures?
His own family chose to depict him somewhere 'in between', but except for TII it seems that nobody depicted him in his later years. I have my thoughts on that. It's sort of like the Hollywood actresses of old- they are only being depicted as 23 year olds.

Even during his absolute time of torture, some GORGEOUS portraits have been snapped during the trial. The man is such a beautiful being- even under absolute torture he radiated something magnificently otherwordly.

He ist such an incredibly beautiful man until his last day on earth. For all the talk about him 'not wanting to get older'- it makes me wonder why it is that books, biographies always consist of the same era.
And especially in musical biographies I always wonder why a picture is being chosen of him being so very young. The Michael without the pigment is equally beautiful to me, every year added in his life, every experience and every wound just added to the charisma that was almost physical to the touch- take the last picture with Eddie Cascio for example- that is a man that has a story to tell!

^^^And I'd gladly sit by Michael's feet and listen.
So here's hoping we can get some of that story. And maybe some pictures.

But in the case of this book maybe the photograph has specific meaning, so I wouldn't come to conclusions without knowing details.

Definitely looking forward to this Christmas- this and Joe Vogel's book is what I look forward to blinking at me on Christmas morning. I will steal away with my coffee, wrap the blanket tighter and disappear into the books... *is excited*

I found this picture online of Michael and Frank (at least the website says it is Frank). Maybe the picture on the book cover is from that day, Michael looks like he is dressed the same.

Pace and Ash thanks for those beautiful pictures. You can see Michael's fingers with the effects of vitiligo and also on his face, and that is a significant picture because it shows that he really had this condition, something people like Dr. Drew refuse to believe.

I also see Michael's beauty throughout his years, right up to TII. I am just curious about the choice of photo and what memories Frank had that made him choose it. Maybe he will say something about it during his book signing, if he is asked.

Pace, you remind me of a little girl awaiting Christmas morning to open her presents. I hope you enjoy the books.

Yeah Michael had met the Dad when he managed suits and apartments at the Helmsley Palace Hotel.

I believe it was taken in mjs hotel in london march 2001.thats when he was in a pot (cast) from when he broke his foot.mac culkin was appearing in a play in london at the time and visited him.mj had just been or was going to a book promotional event for the rabbi and the spoon bender.anyone know the names of the other in the pics bar the obvious ones

Yeah 5 March. The other four people are members of the Graff/Vardinoyannis families. They've made billions in the diamond and oil industries. The woman in the front is Zeta Vardinoyannis, the man on the far left is her ex-husband, François Graff, the lady next to him is his mother Anne-Marie Graff, and the man in the back is his father Laurence Graff. Probably friends of David.
