Janet "postpones" Japan leg of her tour

Reuters (via Yahoo) is reporting this:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Janet Jackson has postponed the Japanese leg of her tour, blaming the slumping economy, the singer's representatives said on Monday.
Jackson, who launched her Rock Witchu Tour in September, was scheduled to play five shows in Japan in February.
"It's unfortunate but the world's economy does not allow Janet to make a trip at this time," the singer's manager, Kenneth Crear, said in a statement.
Jackson's representatives offered no other details about the postponement, including any plans to reschedule.
She had postponed six North American shows after falling ill with migraine-associated vertigo. In November, the singer announced those shows would not be rescheduled.
Jackson, 42, is the younger sister of pop icon Michael Jackson. Her tour, which opened on September 7 in Vancouver, was the first time she had gone on the road in seven years.

maybe its because shes not fit enough to tour right now ? i mean in her latest pics from london she looked kind of fat. maybe she thought she should lose some weight before she goes on tour and thats why she postponed and blamed it on the economical crisis lol.
just guessing idk
 
I keep thinking that she may be pregnant. Surely its not just the economy. This could be another excuse.
 
nah she cant be pregnant. jermaine has denied it over and over again. if it was true why he'd deny it ? i can understand not confirming it and leaving it float around as another rumour but why deny it ?
 
have the shows not sold well? thats more likley the reason.
 
If anybody is surprised by this, I'm not! The writing has been on the wall for the longest time, but some refused to see it. Just last week the pictures of Janet in London should've spoke volumes to many. That solidifed my prediction that this Japanese leg of the tour would go like all the other dates and be cancelled.

Something has been terribly wrong here for months now and the way it has been handled has been nonchalant and sloppy!

To the powers that be, the artist cannot exist without the support of the fan base, so I think a good deal of effort should be placed into how the fans are treated. They cannot continue to feel as though they are being slapped in the face. These are hard times, fans can't be spending money on flights, hotels and tickets only to lose it all without a proper explaination.

It would be in Janets best interest to properly address this issue, 'cause I tell you whats left of her career depends on it. If you don't have credibility then you don't have anything

BTW......this has nothing to do with the economy at all......'cause if it did, how do you explain Madonna and Tina Turner??? The lame excuses are rubbing her fans the wrong way and she needs to know that.
 
well if she doesnt sell well on arenas and stadiums then she should try smaller venues.
 
Well, it's a pretty creative reason. I guess the recession hits us all.

The recession is just an excuse!

There has been a pattern that developed from this tour that continued after just a couple of performances. Postpone with no good explaination and then cancel with no good explaination.

This just is not cool. If there is a personal reason to this then she should find a way of explaining to her fans without having to divulge too much of her business. but she is'nt gonna do that, hence the lame excuses.

cuz it's not like her and rene denied being married for ten yrs...oh waiiiiit>! very insensitive to outright call her fat. too bad we're not all stick figure sickly waifs who don't eat etc.....

she ain't gonna tour. just like she used the 9/11 excuse for cancelling her european tour during afy.....

I agree. I think her reasons for not touring are lame. She is not being honest here. The recession has nothing to do with it because how come people like Madonna, Tina Turner and others don't seem to be affected. They've done great with their tours. I can't say i'm suprised by this though, judging from recent pics of Janet in London, it's obvious she's in no shape to perform. Still, the constant excuses are getting pretty pathetic at this point.
 
Since JD's "departure" from Def Jam, could there be any correlation at all with that fact and Janet once again postponing? Although how it would have influenced her decision, I don't know. Sorry that I don't completely understand the recording business ins and outs, but for her to use the economy as the reason seems kinda iffy, especially considering the success of Madonna et al with their tours recently.

Ultimately another major factor I would presume to be is the lower than expected turnout for her shows. (?)
 
Yeah, I'm thinking that there was a low turnout. There was a low turnout even BEFORE the announcement of a recession. But Janet still performed. My question was why did she suddenly stop due to vertigo? I mean I can't count her age or her weight for why she stopped. Oddly enough, Janet was doing decent but I guess it wasn't the blockbuster she was hoping for, I don't know...

janet is my favorite artist, but she and her team are full of shit and have been messing with us fans the whole year now. if it's not one excuse it's another. these "postponed" dates are not going to be reschedueld. they said they would in march, and well, it's march, janet is fat again. so i don't think so.
 
i can understand your frustration but since you have no issue being upfront with your feelings, I have to say this,

that is a bit rude... in my opinion

demand a refund if your not interested in seeing the show that was cancelled/rescheduled and move on
