John Landis says Michael Jackson was too ‘grotesque’ to film

No, have you met him? I would have loved to have met him

Yes, I have met him, when I was really young. My Mom however met him more. And Qbee already posted that his nose was nothing but his own, so no need for me to drag it more.

I don't care if Mike had 2 nose jobs or 2 million nose jobs. He's still the same person to me and why do so many people make a big deal about it? It was his own business

I don't care either. I just wish he hadn't lied about the number of nose jobs he had because it makes it easier for people to question or even dismiss anything else he says, no matter how valid. It would have been better if he had been honest or hadn't said anything at all.

What discoid lupus did to Michael's nose and lips:

Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints and/or organs inside the body). Normally our immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from foreign substances, like bacteria and viruses. With lupus, your immune system cannot tell the difference between these foreign invaders and your body's healthy tissues and creates autoantibodies ("auto" means "self") to attack and destroy healthy tissue. These autoantibodies cause inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body.

I'm 100% sure most of the surgeries on his nose and/or lips were reconstructive since lupus attacked and destroyed those tissues which it isn't the same than plastic surgery. Michael would not say he had more reconstructive surgeries since he never revealed publicly he had also lupus.

When he was asked i wished he'd said ''It's none of your damn business'' but he was too nice to do that

I can't conceive some fans believe Michael had tons of plastic surgery. And having botox is not part of it.

The doctor who examined Michael in 1993 ordered by that bastard Sneddon:

DR. STRICK: Michael had a disease vitiligo in which the pigment is lost and attempts had been made to bring that pigment back which had been unsuccessful so he tried to bleach it out so it would be one colour. Lupus is also an autoimmune disease and he also had skin involvement, which had destroyed part of the skin of his nose and his nasal surgeries and all were really reconstructive, to try and look normal.

QUESTION: So all these nose reconstructions you’re saying was as a result of him treating his lupus?

DR. STRICK: The first one was to try and reconstruct from some scar tissue and obstruction that had happened with the skin there. It didn’t work out very well and all subsequent attempts were to make it right. I think he was trying to look like a normal guy as best as that he could.”

Im getting sick n tired and how ppl make a damn fuss bout how mj had plastic surgrey on his nose and how many times he had it done DANG IT WAS HIS BODY HIS BUSINESS!!!! NO BODY ELSE

I don't know how much plastic surgery Michael has had but i do think that the amount he had has been greatly exaggerated by the media and general public. Michael change in appearance was mainly because of weight loss/weight gain, different hairstyles (Yes a change of hairstyle can change your appearance. This Is It proved that when the curls returned) and vitiligo.

Wow I think Landis sounds grotesque. People can really say some very mean things. If that's the only reason he could find not to work with him again then I'm glad it didn't happen especially having saying those things about Michael. People don't even take in consideration for ones' children nor family members of how that would make them feel.

It will never be the same having plastic surgeries in which people modify their appearences and having reconstructive surgeries in which plastic surgeons (sp?) RECONSTRUCT tissues that are destroyed or lost. Lupus is highly damaging to the nose, mouth, bucal mucosa if it isn't properly treated. I don't put directly the image because it's highly disturbing...

Most of his surgeries were reconstructive, Michael didn't change as much as ignorant jerks claim. It's true in some years his nose looked smaller but probably the reconstruction didn't work out that well all the time. In 2009 his nose, fact all his face looked so beautiful, I've seen the make up of Erik Y aka The Phantom of The Opera and he barely has a nose. Michael clearly had a nose and it pisses me off people still believes that bullshit knowing the existense of the autopsy which it put those rumors to rest.

So glad someone said this! I know it's an older comment, but I am genuinely surprised at the lack of research some MJ fans display when it comes to how MJ's skin conditions truly manifested. Without going into too much detail and medical terminology, as someone who works in the medical field, I will say the following:

Michael's skin changes were primarily caused by medical conditions. His entire appearance changed because of them, actually, not just the pigment of his skin. To dive a little deeper, given the health conditions he was battling (discoid lupus, universal vitiligo, permanent damage to his scalp and constant pain after the burning incident with the Pepsi commercial), Michael did his best, something even his autopsy confirms. I work with patients with discoid lupus and vitiligo, both of these conditions affect pigmentation, with universal vitiligo covering over 80% of a patient’s body. Couple this with the fact that discoid lupus (autoimmune disease) causes skin lesions, hair loss, muscle atrophy and it affects the skin around the eyes, mouth, the aspect of fingernails, etc. This also explains why his smile looks different in later years, the muscles around the nose and mouth can atrophy and be harder to move. My heart breaks every time I remember how much the media criticised his appearance when so much of it was out of his hands, it was happening against his volition. Even the surgeries (far fewer than the media liked to claim), they were predominantly reconstructive since lupus can *hinder* surgical wound healing. In other words, a discoid lupus patient who undergoes surgery will most likely notice that their surgery wound would never heal completely/properly. The damaged tissues would need constant reconstruction. As stated in the beginning, at the end of the day, people made fun of someone whose appearance changed primarily because of medical reasons. Also, let’s not forget that, just like any other human, MJ was also aging, his 50 year-old self couldn’t look identical to his 20-year-old self. Then you have celebrities like Jack Black, Eminem, Oprah and many others who went out of their way to make fun of Michael, mock him and even betray his trust. I am so fed up with these people. I wish Michael knew how loved he was and still is. I am heartbroken every time I remember that he probably died without believing he was beautiful and truly appreciated.

He had to deal with a lot of health problems and on top of that he had to deal with the BS that media, tabloids and evil people were spreading against him. All the people that took advantage of him and his money and those who stabbed him on the back. The way he handled all of it is quite honourable in my opinion.

To be honest, I've stopped to feel resentment for MJ's "enemies" since some years ago. I now actually just pray for all his enemies also those from the past . Michael have done this as well , even right now, since, where he is now, Is the only thing he can do, now... If someone dont like the aspect of someone else, this not offend me at all. Everyone have their tastes. If I could have seen his nose very closely and in person, I would think It was not so good. Maybe from photos not have the same impact. Anyway, Michael pray for them right now ~
