wow--it must be nice!

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

I have to admit the people who questioned the autographs have raised an interesting point.

This autographed standee of Michael has sold for $2,812.50

You can clearly see that the date on it is 2009.

It has Bravado logo on it. Wasn't it MJ estate who signed a deal with Bravado? This doesn't look right...

BRAVADO IS EXCLUSIVE MERCHANDISER FOR MICHAEL JACKSON
8/31/09
Bravado has entered into an agreement with the estate of Michael Jackson to be the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of merchandise for one of the most successful, prolific and iconic artists of all time, Michael Jackson. The announcement was made by John Branca and John McClain, the Co-Special Administrators for the Estate of Michael Jackson, and Tom Bennett, Chief Executive Officer of Bravado.
This new agreement builds upon the deal already in place between Bravado and AEG Live that placed Bravado as the exclusive merchandiser for Mr. Jackson's tour at The 02 arena in London. With this new deal, which has been done directly between the Estate and Bravado, the company will now exclusively create, market and distribute the majority of Michael Jackson-related products on a global basis.
"Bravado is the perfect partner for the Estate on Michael Jackson merchandise," stated Messrs. Branca and McClain. "The reputation of Tom and his team for creating compelling merchandise and providing strong product support is stellar. We are delighted to be working with them."
"We are thrilled to expand our services to become the exclusive merchandiser for Michael Jackson-related products," commented Mr. Bennett. "Creating this new line alongside Michael was a privilege of a lifetime; it truly celebrates Michael's unmistakable style and irreplaceable talent, and helps commemorate and preserve the legacy that is Michael Jackson."
The new extensive collection of over 200 premium items, which is the only official line of Michael Jackson merchandise available to the public, includes items created in collaboration with the late singer. It is available worldwide through MichaelJacksonMerch.com, as well as through such leading retailers as Hot Topic, Target, Old Navy and JCPenney, among many others.

All the standees by Bravado (3 in the range) were made after June 25th. Maybe that's an early prototype but I don't think Bravado were around before then anyway.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

It looks like they where booked the official merchandiser for TII, but I don't know whether they managed to produce anything then.

Yes they were the official merchandiser for TII and it's possible that this could be a prototype. Latoya Jackson during her time at Celebrity Apprentice sold a t-shirt from TII that was a prototype and that Michael signed to approve mass-production.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

 Omg even the dangerous tour outfit were put on for sale????NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i was hoping to one day see it in like a muesum or something like that :(

Yellow Thriller jacket $20,000 ($25,600) Bidder 1128 - this one went 2 time cheaper than the estimate

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

I am sure they will find a way to explain that one.

MJ was drugged out of his mind and sign the wrong cardboard

It's weird though that they would start with something long forgotten from the 80s, and not connected to TII. Such items became popular again only after MJ died. Before June 25 it just didn't make sense.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

The white Thriller jacket from the HIStory tour sold for just 20 thousand. That was a surprise!

By the way how long is this auction?

But why would MJ used ALL LA gear standees in 2009?

Okay no need to panic. I spoke too early. I went back to HTWF case in which Bravado gave a witness statement. This is from it. It takes the agreement to march 2009 and it's possible for over 300 prototypes dating before MJ's death to exist.

In or around March 2009, Bravado entered into arrangements with AEG Live, LLC (“AEG”) to serve as the merchandising company for Michael Jackson related merchandise in connection with AEG’s agreement with Michael Jackson for the then scheduled “This Is It Tour” of live performances of Mr. Jackson.

In connection with Bravado serving as the merchandising company for Mr. Jackson’s “This Is It Tour,” Bravado created over 300 designs of Michael Jackson related merchandise. Tom Bennett of Bravado presented all of those Jackson merchandise designs to Mr. Jackson personally in Los Angeles, California. At a meeting attended by Mr. Bennett as well as Mr. Jackson in early June 2009, Mr. Jackson personally approved approximately 295 of the Jackson merchandise designs presented to him for creation and sale in connection with the “This Is It Tour” and the official Jackson merchandise website

Did they mention what was the connection between a 1989 LA Gear poster and This is it?

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

I know that MJ knew how to draw. But are those sketches being sold that he signed drawn by him, Bush or someone else?

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

Could LA GEAR have been used for promotion for TII maybe..?

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

And what is the connection between a 1989 LA Gear poster and This is it?

none but they weren't only doing stuff for TII, they were also doing stuff for "official Jackson merchandise website" as the statement says (see the last line). It was probably to benefit from the increased demand in any and all Michael related stuff due to the concerts. These standees were being made in the 90s (you can see older ones with Pepsi or La Gear logos as collectibles), they might have planned to produce them again. So that they can sell them and made money.

Now they are producing over 1000 items.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

300 designs is a lot. Could have been... We can try to contact Bravado and ask them when this stand was prototyped.

$130,000 ($156,000) Bidder 462

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

There were loads of images used for TII merchandise from all eras. There was also a standee of BJ from the 30th anniversary shows which you can still buy. The cover of the programme was from the Ebony 2007 shoot for example.

Not surprised that Thriller jacket didn't do so well. It was worn by the guy in the wolf mask and not Michael.

Not surprise to me when we have hundreds of MJ items being sold every year like garage sales, The value of the items and people's desire of buying will decrease. There is a saying a thing is valued if it's rare. I have never seen any other celebs personal items being sold like this, hundreds of the items! It's crazy.

But no other celebrity probably had as many iconic items as MJ had. Besides, most of his jackets raised $150 grand. I think the main reason for the low price of this jacket is that it's not red.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

What's the estate going to have? I am getting depressed. Whoever the 462 person is getting a lot items here.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

A friend of mine just told me she heard bidder 462 is associated with a muesem

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

Really? I don't know. I just find it depressing. I thought maybe a few items or so but it just seems so much. Then to see Michael in the pictures wearing it. I think I have to leave this thread for awhile.

Re: Juliens Auction Dec 2 - The Collection of Tompkins and Bush Auction

Im sure he is associated with a museum. No one would be buying all those iconic costumes to store in their closet
