"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Have you all not stopped thinking about that teaser? I’ve watched it a ridiculous amount of times now and think I’ve also watched every reaction video possible 😂

I can’t get enough, it seems to get better the more I watch it and I’m now used to seeing Jaafar as MJ.

Hot Street has defo been left off for a reason - I agree , I think it could be included in the movie.

It’s a great track. Dare I say , make it contemporary with a touch of the 80s nostalgia and add the weeknd for a verse or two? Could be a smash
I wouldn’t change a thing, the original is a smash. They should put it out as it is imo.

Agreed. It's one of the strongest fully completed unreleased songs there is, but my absolute fear was that it was held off Thriller 40 to be "contemporised" down the line. I think it's absolutely strong enough to be a promotional single for the film.

If they use the Xscape formula I think the fans would be happy. Include the original recording and put it on the album, but also do a duet with The Weeknd or modernize it up for TikTok. Whatever. I get why they do it. But yes , that original is gold and needs to be released.

Quality track but I think it does need to be made contemporary if it is to be played on the radio and be a hit.

Just think, keep the 80’s vibe but add Max Martin as producer and the Weeknd - it’s a guaranteed smash

^^ it’s basically an MJ track ha

It's the giggle in the studio... Makes me smile every single time!

I think members on here suggested Hot Street had been left off Thriller 40, so it could be released on a album or with the Biopic.

Hot Street has potential to be LNFSG style success, it'd probably need a little polish but nothing major
The most I would do to it would be make it sound like Chicago 1945 - but I wouldn't go much further. If the film is confined to a certain period of his life, it needs to tie in with it. I wouldn't like to see Hot Street or any song be reworked to sound like current day music. The trailer is a nuclear bomb of amazing MJ nostalgia - stick to that and keep within those boundaries.

Agreed mate, I'd want it to keep it's essence. The song is charming as it is, it should still feel 80's just a bit more polished.

Regarding picture perfect accuracy, it’s not that important to me. As someone who felt Navi’s depiction in Searching for Neverland (2017) was ”good enough”, the nose or other nitpicks didn’t really bother me even then

What’s important are the motions and the emotions:
that there is soul, magic, tenderness, warmth.
That’s what really ”suspends disbelief”.
And i can feel already they are getting there.

Edit: that said, I do think it looks great 😁

Wouldn't mind Steve Porcaro touching Hoy Street. His work on Chicago 1945 is amazing.

They should use 5ish unreleased, and even unheard songs for this movie for sure, then release them in some sort of an OST release. Not even a fan of that idea for MJ's music, but they need to start releasing music again FFS.

I mean, it's a movie meant to tell his story, to celebrate the pop icon he was and to help the general public understand who he really was.

It's not a movie made for hardcore fans like us who lose it over a barely audible demo, lol. That's niche stuff at this point. I don't think there's enough strong outtake material that would make sense to casual listeners, they'd probably just go "wtf is that?" while a handful of fans point at the screen screaming "omg… they used...Rocker…"

Hot Street 100% could work, but it'd need a modernized mix, something that keeps its 80s soul but adds some fresh elements to make it more commercial.

If they're gonna use anything it would be Hot Street, yeah. Like others have said, if they modernise it, keep it a simple update, no need to totally change the track.

I'm very excited about the trailer! Caught me by surprise just yesterday 😲, since it had been announced for the wicked premieres.
But I can't keep up with all the debate on here, so sorry if it's been discussed before:
I felt it could have been risky to promote it with the "mamase mamasa..." clip so prominent, since that had been stolen from Mano Dibango. Have you guys gathered any reaction on that?🤔
And have you drawn a conclusion on the time span covered?

I always said that the perfect song for the Biopic would be "Dream Away" , but since the movie is going to be uplifting and revolve around the super star effect Mike had, I guess the better option is indeed "Hot Street".
