"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

It’s highly unlikely there will be a second film. Obviously it all depends on how much the film makes but I can’t see Lionsgate wanting to work with the Mj estate again. Also, there is no way any second film would not have the executors as producers. JB’s ego would never allow that. They can’t dramatise 1993 or the settlement in any way, even if they change the names. They could have taken then chance, but stuff happened.

Also, a reminder of the raid scenes being shot at the ranch.

The Lionsgate guy saying that they have people looking at what they can do after the first movie releases makes me think they are considering a second movie. He didn't need to be that specific with his answer when he was asked about it.

I hadn't seen that set picture. Such a shame.

One thing is for certain - everything will come out in the wash in the weeks and months after the films release.

Thanks for sharing.

Just seeing that photo of old police cars lined up really highlights how much money/resources the movie production must have lost replacing all these scenes. Makes their JC settlement excuse appear even more ridiculous.

It is starting to feel very plausible to me that the Cascio case may have derailed everything. It's certainly more convincing than the JC settlement excuse they used after shooting all the relevant parts. But it seems safe to assume those scenes do exist and the movie was planning to go ahead with them at some point, which indicates the JC settlement may have not been a problem.

I feel I keep going round in circles with this.

I see this photo, I thought it was real and not a reconstitution of the police raid
Maybe in two parts I hope

Yeah agree. I don't know why some are acting like it's totally out of the realms of possibility. It's quite likely by all accounts.

Creating rumors about a second movie is just their way of trying to make people shut up. They just don't want any criticism.

But it will be all too easy afterwards to forget all about it, or simply to say the first movie didn't meet expectations, or literally any other reason.

To put it another way, I'm an adult, and I demand that this film treat his life in an adult way. The impact of the allegations was too big for them to pretend it didn't happen.

I don't think they are editing the sequel right now. They would definitely film a lot of new material for it if it happens.
So what did this mean then?

"We're not ready to confirm plans ... [but] the creative team is hard at work making sure we're in a position to deliver more 'Michael' after the first film"

Keep in mind they said this to their investors. This isn't some PR spin. They can't exactly lie to the investors.

Also the fact that he refers to it as the "FIRST film" and not "the film" so casually makes me think a second film is a given.

I didn't say that a sequel isn't coming. I just don't think they are that far in the process of making it.

Not sure I really want a sequel if I'm honest, if the biopic does anything near a billion at the box office it's inevitable

📆The Countdown has begun .... and we shall see what they have really done to HIS legacy good or bad it will soon BE...
It is imo that we move forward in preparing ourselves and this mj family community for whatever that movie is going to bring
here because they are going to come to ask their questions about the truth about Michael from us and not from Holllywood Blvd.

I just wanted to say this to help with the pain of thinking of what this film is going to do to US that LOVE him if it isn't what we want to see or not see, I feel the anxiety of the work I will do willingly to DEFEND him in my world as I will do til my last breathe! But it is happening!

👑There is nothing they can do to stop us from loving him no matter what they do or don't do, add or don't add to this film
because it will break records like Michael always did no matter what anyone does it will blow their entire minds as he always does!

👉Do not get it twisted here Michael's past and cases of extortion is nothing to be ASHAMED of bcus he was the VICTIM after all,
they can only show the UGLY truth of what THEY DID to lie to get him, how they tried to do it and how they used the law
and paid liars to get away with it! His innocence didn't make him look guilty in anyway it was all of those money-hungry losers that
did that to him! He could never do anything to hide or get away with a damn thing when the leeches scum and liars photographed his entitre life on every lens size!

👉Nothing will change for them but it will be GOOD for US because finally they will bring us the new MJ fans on their big movie bloated
hollywood budgets that CAN extend him farther then this film in itself will and much farther than we ever could in countries that stayed
loyal to him that do not speak his own english language!
These newbies and devotees that do not believe like their parents did or what the press scum say about any of the BS and they
know he was innocent for themselves! They already serached and knew he was never what they said he was and the real reason
behind what they did why they did it to him! They even hate hollywood because they see the stories of it's dark side and what
They will carry him and defend him into the generations and generations to come when we no longer can!
So proud of them because they also had our love and devotion to Michael poured into them by us so they know Michael is nothing but pure L.O.V.E toward them the CHILDREN he would give his everything for!! They are who he was fighting for they will HONOR HIM back, they are already HERE!!

💞Let's prepare for them ALL to come, to this community this Michael's Kingdom at MJJC worldwide online,

141 days for me

When the film's audience figures break all records, such lists will no longer be remembered.

I would definitely count on a 2nd movie. If the rumors are true about the Chandler-related footage being unusable, and that it was meant to serve as the entire backbone of what was initially going to be one movie, then I would wager that the following is also true:

1. The 2nd movie will utilize lots of already-shot footage that was meant for the first(and only) movie. Even as of April 2024, the footage featured in the CinemaCon teaser seemed to indicate that the movie was going well past 1988/1992(and of course along with Fuqua's repeated "Life to death" confirmation).

2. Lots of new footage will be shot. I remember people surmising that the likes of MSG 2001 wouldn't be depicted. Well...if my aforementioned theory rings true, then the chances of MSG, Martin Bashir, the dispute with Sony, HWT, Scream, You Are Not Alone, MTV 1995, MJ & Friends, Oprah, etc, etc, etc, being featured increase substantially.

I know a lot of you are disappointed by the prospects of the legal drama being omitted altogether, but that just means we'll be seeing other events depicted that otherwise may never have been included.

for me 2 part 100% sure.

I wonder what was shown at cinemacon last year,like...i know it cant be the same trailer because it was described differently
It definitely wasn't the same - I think it featured a lot of later life moments that will now be part of another release.

I highly doubt the money invested in all of that will totally go to waste.

i hope not because i really wanna see em. and i cant wait to see the deleted scenes

It wouldn't be the first time a major studio would dump an on going project very late into shooting or even early postproduction all for a tax write off. Wasn't there an entire Catwoman movie shot and then shelved indefinitely ?

Both films just wiped (although Coyote v ACME has been saved and WILL see a release). Batgirl has been deleted from history, and it was a completed film. This film is absolutely so far from being guaranteed to having a sequel. A good trailer response is not the same as box office numbers. Batman v Superman broke lots of records and went on to have a record breaking 2nd week % drop off. And even though that film was NEVER not going to get a sequel, the DC Comics films never recovered. Batman and Super SHOULD have been an easy billion.

People just need to keep expectations in check is all I'm saying, but the early signs are very positive.

There is no way it has been deleted. Peter Safran who became co-ceo of DC Studios after it has said that he has seen it.
