involuntary manslaughter is dumb - it is the weakest thing they could have charged him with. what about not monitoring MJ properly, what about that the levels of propofol were reported way higher than what he said he gave MJ, what about MJ probably already being dead and Dr Murray knowing it but putting on the facade of CPR anyway? this is shit.

Guess all that didn't matter. :( Yep, this really is shit, even though it's not really a surprise.. It's like they'd say to him "well, we all make mistakes, so try to do better next time.." The question remains: what happened to justice..again?? :angry:

the worst has already happened but murray needs to pay for what he did. he needs to be behind bars, i will be so upset if he doesn't get jail time. he voluntarily put michael life in his hands when he decided to give him anesthesia to sleep. he's not an anesthesiologist and he didn't have the proper eqipment. i don't even think he called for help until michael was long gone. if i had things my way i'd have him executed but i don't so i hope they charge him with second degree murder.
 
I wonder who is prosecuting...because who ever they are, they SUCK!!!!

They could have gone for something more harsh like murder two but instead they are going with this. If they went with something more serious, then it would have been good becuse Murrays defence would have got spooked and settled for a lesser charge...but this IS the lesser charge.

I dont know what else to say...but this is not very good for justice.

Justice for Michael, justice for Michael. I guess we'll know in a few weeks what the DA will charge Murray with. The man needs to pay for his negligence. His negligence caused a man to die.

Yeah..This is what I've been trying to trick myself into Not believing. I still hope that I'm wrong. It's not that I want 'revenge' it's that I would like the truth be known. The real truth..Not the 'Truth' that conspires in these times.:timer:
 
If Murray is convicted of involuntary manslaughter it is automatic jail time. How long it is depends on the judge. If he is guilty of this he will be going to jail. Whether they charge him with 'criminally negligent manslaughter' or 'unlawful act manslaughter' will be the key.
 
TMZ have said several times over the lst few months that the case would be submitted "within weeks" and so far it hasn't been, so don't hold out any hope for it happening any time soon.
 
there's still hope. I refuse to believe Murray will walk away from this. I refuse to believe until I hear it from officials.
 
I'm just going to pretend I did not see this article and wait for a conviction..............

I'm so sorry, but it is NOT automatic jail time. "Involuntary manslaughter" in no way carries that kind of sentence. Doctors are particularly protected, in that they do deal with life-and-death, and they make "mistakes." Propofol is not a controlled substance.I predicted this from the very beginning, when so many said "wait and see." I have no idea why so many trusted in "authorities." NO! NO! and NO! We must not turn away from this. We are MANY, and we cannot let it end like this. . .

I feel powerless...but I would do anything to help get justice for Michael.

Even if he pleads guilty,he will ask to do social service instead of jail time,maybe for a couple of years...anyway i give up any hope for a severe punishment...i can't expect a fair effort to do him justice from the same pp who tried to nail Michael for almost 20 years...

I'm struggling to keep a level head becuse this reminds me so much of the 05' trial.

What in the hell are the prosecuting attorneys thinking?...they could have gone for much more than inv. manslaughter.

I KNEW this would happen. I really did. . . (So much for the "wait and see" folks. NOOOOO. That was NEVER right, for so many reasons.) What we can do (one thing?) is to continue to post here and demand justice. This board is actually very widely read.

We could do a petition, and show our strength in numbers?

We could urge those who KNOW something to come forward? That was a house-full of people, and they saw Murray coming and going. We can urge them to contact the LAPD with what they know.

Mostly, we can refuse to give up?

I was gonna ask the same thing. How many years in prison can he get? I read somewhere that the maximum punishment for involuntary manslaughter is 15 years.
 
I bet if Michael would survive that night the cops and the media would tell us it's a crime to use propofol at home and they would find any reason to charge MICHAEL with it.

I remember that - in August or September I asked a question in the IU if we can trust the authorities even in securing the evidence etc. and you said NO we cannot.

Since then the scenario has been like this: there are serious mistakes in the way the evidence was handled (not really securing the house as the possible crime scene after 25.06), possible most important witnesses not contacted properly and immediately etc etc

Now (if what TMZ says is true) this is only the result of all of these mistakes and negligence (or are they deliberate?) - they don't have enough evidence and so Murray is saved.
 
Does anyone know who is prosecuting this case??

I would love to ask them why they are going for such a weak charge.
I would also LOVE to ask who exactly hired them...it could be the jackson family or the executors of the estate.

We all fought together in 05', now let's do it again for him! This is not right, Michael deserves better than this.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that involuntary manslaughter (meaning the person didn't actually 'mean' to kill someone) is probably not even going to get someone convicted. Especially since Murray is a 'doctor' (and what a splendid one he is! :smilerolleyes: ), it's just another "Whoopsie, I"m just human and mistakes happen" kinda thing.

HOWEVER, if that would be the case, there's so many other things Murray did wrong which he SHOULD be punished for:

- waiting centuries before calling 911
- administering not JUST propofol but a whole COCKTAIL of stuff
- performing CPR on a BED (instead of on the floor which ANY doctor should know)

I'm sure there's a lot more but I have a headache and can't think straight. LOL
 
One law enforcement source connected with the case notes the D.A. has been actively working with the LAPD and it's all but certain the case will be filed. As for the charge -- a decision has not been made, but our sources say the likelihood is involuntary manslaughter, which requires a showing of gross negligence.
