Michael Jackson On Rick Dees & Michael Beats Justin Timberlake On Toronto Radio Station

It turns out i made a slight error typing with the name of the Justin Timberlake single, it is called "Chop Me Up", i've made the correction to my main article.

The song is Justin's final single from his Futuresex Lovesounds album. I was very surprised as well that Michael beat Justin, the radio hosts kept announcing all day "New VS Old.. Michael Jackson takes on Justin Timberlake tonight at 7" And i listened to the people calling in and it appeared that MJ beat Justin by about 2:1 ratio. There was a little girl who called in who appeared to sound no more then 5 or 6 years old she was like "Michael Michael Michael!!" There was kids, teenagers, older people, mid age people, white people, black people....japanese and chinese, etc. The diversity of the people calling in was amazing!

But I'm glad MJ won...it restored alot of faith in me that Michael still commands alot of respect among the general people. Even with all the sh*t Michael has been through over the years, all the rumors and crap....Michael was still able to beat the most popular modern day pop artist. That alone says more than alot....

Justin aughta' know! Man, 49 year old Michael Jackson is more popular then 26 year old Justin Timberlake. The same guy whose gotten massive promotion for several years now while Michael's been dogged, lol. Who's BAD!

Wouldn't his new album (not Thriller 25) be the most anticipated though

As much as it seems inevitable at this point with all the stuff Will.I.Am and others have said, the new album is still technically a rumor until we receive official notice. But I think it's even more impressive that a Thriller re-release with remixes was voted the most anticipated. One can only assume that an actual new album will be even bigger.

On another note, I just heard Chop Me Up, and... it's kinda bad lol. I do think a handful of JT's singles are good, but this certainly is not one of them. Seriously, it's a very forgettable song lol. I wonder if he just released it to compete with MJ's singles record. I don't know, but I do know that it's... kinda bad.

I'm from toronto.........:) and i'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! MJ's back and ppl all over the world are loving every bit of it!

Still don't like the song, but I'm glad to see that MJ is doing well. Very suprising.

a quick read on this thread tells me that the wannabe 2008 is doing really good. i am soooo happy! go michael! let all those wannabes eat dust! hahahaha!

Wannabe 2008 is actually growing on me. Akon, didn't really have to work too hard. The song already has such an infectuous beat and melody to it. But he really added a new twist to the song, and along with Mike's fresh vocals, Hot Damn :smilie_butterflies:...who knew?

:woohoo:My baby back, whoohoo:sarmoti:

Oh, and as for JT's song, the beat is ok, but there is no melody and the lyrics...:brow:

Great to hear that!

I have an extreme good feeling about Thriller 25, here in Austria they give the Album very much much attention tooB)

Although I will admit that I don't like the remixes at all, I'm happy for any success that comes Michael's way. This is a very nice surprise and I must say that I'm amazed that folks are more excited about the re-re-release of a 25 year old album from MJ than new releases from other artists:lol:. It is very telling of the appalling state of music at the moment.

I have always maintained that the purpose of Thriller 25 is to remind people of the greatness of MJ's art, as opposed to all the media garbage, and it may just be working. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Michaels been around for 40 years, Justin timberlakes been around for what 7 years?

I find attacks on other artist cheap.

Yeah he has been here for 7 years so why people calling him the new KOP ?? it's an answer to those people , michael is here for 40 years and although all the crap michael is still FAR more popular than the so-called new KOP , michael IS and will always be the ONLY king of pop until THRILLER 's sales will be beaten , for the moment nor anyone nor justin Timberlake is in position to beat it so justin IS not a king of nothing .

PS : at the same age than justin (26 years ) michael was already THE KING OF POP with THRILLER , he was THE megastar all over the world included in AFRICA , i don't think justin is as popular as michael in AFRICA , and all other world any point ??

Id like to see MJ do Ryan Seacrests radio talk show!
Unless ryan's a MJ Basher, I don't listen to him but I know he's huge especially in LA
Yep! If only he didn't diss MJ. I don't mind Ryan Seacrest as he was pro-MJ before the 2005 allegations.
Fox aired Private Home Movies and the dude was all props about Michael during the episodes of American Idol ... wearing black and went on to say he's pimping for PHM.

I like Rick Dees, the guy does respect Michael, if only my local radio stations did have some kind of franchising to air his show. *A girl can only wish*

WOOHOO that's great...i can feel the MASSIVE comeback around the corner..

Michael is coming people. Watch out for him as his impact will be BIGGER and BETTER and a new Michaelmania will be on the horizon!

This is great news! An obvious indicator as to how successful this new project will be.

This will certainly be a platform for Michael to finally launch his new material in the near future. I believe that this a great method that Michael has adopted. Raising his profile again in the recording field, gaining his well deserved credability and making people aware why he is known as the greatest recording artist.

Well done, Michael..
