King Of Pop rises 2 places on the UK Album Chart this week at #3. The Motown Years (a compilation of Michael Jackson & Jackson Five) has debuted at #34. Thriller rises 9 places to #80.

Billie Jean rises 10 places in the UK Singles Chart this week at #83. Thriller stays at #98. Thriller Megamix rises 15 places to #96.

Michael Jackson's new "King of Pop" retrospective (Epic/Sony BMG) takes a second-week climb of 15-6, fuelled by debuts of No. 1 in Austria and No. 4 in Holland. It's also up 5-3 in the United Kingdom (where sales of 22,000 give it a running total of 48,000), 11-4 in the Belgian region of Flanders and 19-6 in Germany.

FYI: in the week of his birthday, a famous radio station played his songs every morning and gave away a king of pop ipod every day and on his b-day there was a 2 hour special from 8 pm to 10pm about michael jackson

1 day before MJs birthday, there was a movie theatre screening in vienna's biggest cinema, a lot of people attended. at MJs birthday, local radio stations played his songs.

as a side note, as we in austria also receive german tv-stations, they even played on mtv germany (yes, those full of hate-mtv people) a countdown of MJs best videos and of course, VIVA (mtv rival music tv station and long time fans of MJ) did so too.

plus there was a TV-special in the austrian tv, so enough promotion to guarantee MJ would enter at #1 two weeks ago and still is at #1 the second week in a row.

MJ only had 1 album so far that was at number 1, which was "bad", but i dont know if it entered at one or only was #1 for 1 week...because all his other albums entered at #2 or worse in austria. but "king of pop" seems to be a huge success for him in austria, 2 weeks #1 is just so great.

and of course, all haters (there are the usual ones in austria too) suddenly keep their mouths shut. ironically, now there's no news about michael being number one, or michael entering the charts at #1 two weeks ago. not even sony austria sent out a press release like they did when thriller 25 entered the charts at #5, which they called spectacular.

i dont really understand the world media's perception of MJ, and even sony's.
 
I wonder sometimes if i am the only mj fan left in the world!! Does anyone else know or even care how this absolute legends new album ' king of pop' is doing in other countries worldwide???

Oh no, I lurk in Ukmix every day to see how it's doing LOL. It's slipped to #4 in HongKong this week, and Thriller 25 is #1 in Norway mid-price chart.
