That is definitely A.I!I hear this today for the first time, unfortunately not good quality. The other MJ videos on the channel are AI fake snippets, but this one doesn't sound like AI to me but very human and mj like (if not I would like to know the name of the AI program or the human impersinator) Most likely I would guess an old and unknown TV show recording, anyone knows more?

The instrumental sounds similar to jukebox ai to me (there I think I hear what you describe as awful artifacting). The vocals sound relatively clear to me though, in contrast, and if that's AI then I'm very impressed.

They said they wanted to focus on releasing songs, as opposed to full fledged albums anyway, they should just put it out with no strings attached.
Don't think they're bothered about releasing music honestly. They make enough money.
But a biopic taking even more man hours and effort to make, market and produce, would make less money? The goal is clearly expansion, the records they make in between are still the main bread and butter, in a way of speaking.
I originally was under the impression that he sings only the chorus, but apparently he’s the overwhelming majority of the song. He’s the verses, Mary J. is the female pre-chorus, and D’Angelo does backgrounds on the chorus, if I’m not mistaken.
