Spike Lee announces Off The Wall Documentary - Estate Announcement Page 66

I am so amazed and blown away by the note that he wrote and left about him becoming MJ and the biggest and best ever. Even at that young age he had tunnel vision, he knew exactly what he wanted to do and where he wanted to go. And the craziest thing about it is that he actually achieved it, he achieved every single f***** thing he wrote down and became the greatest to ever do it. The world will never have someone like Michael Jackson again.

I agree. Michael's legendary talents truly matched his ambitions. It's quite incredible O_O

Mistakes happens, MJ monument in Gary has photos of E'Casanova on it:D
yeah, I've seen people use pictures of him before and they thought it was Michael  he doesn't even look like him that much that you can't tell the difference

Unless it rained I think it is. (But I think it's indoors so it could not be rain and nothing seems wet from rain anyway.)

Kind of sexy.

It's EXTREMELY sexy. Sweat flying off of him like fireworks.
it's sexy as hell when he sweats!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Can anyone give the exact quote he wrote down?

I think the top part says "this was written before Thriller", it's supposedly written in 1979
"MJ will be my new name no more Michael Jackson. I want a whole new character, a whole new look, I should be a totally different person. People should never think of me as the kid who sang ABC, I want you back. I should be a new incredible actor, singer, dancer, that will shock the world!
I will do no interviews. I will be magic. I will be a perfectionist, a researcher, a trainer, a masterer. I will be better than every great actor roped in one. I "must" have the most incredible training system to dig and dig and dig until I find.

I will study and look back on the whole world of entertainment and perfect it. Take it steps further from where the greats left off."

^I really admire his dedication & will power, he truly believed it and made it happen.. pretty inspirational!

Just watched the doc. Very good. I felt it lost steam once it got into the track by track analysis of Off The Wall. The first sectionw as amazing.

Some nice stories. Absolutely blown away by some of the MJ interviews and voiceovers.

One of the most inspirational things i've ever read

To me it was the other way around. It started slow but it was really amazing when all the live performances came in during the track-by-track. To me those were the highlight.

I agree with the performances, but I loved seeing Soul Train and American Bandstand in such amazing quality too. Loved the Wiz part. It was a very good doc but felt Bad 25 did a better job.

How much do we want the 79 concerts and the forum show. ...

I noticed the horrid return of the added crowd noise though during some footage.

It's one thing to write it down. But then to actually strive for it every day of your life and then achieve it, and over achieve it? That, my friends is the difference between Michael Jackson and every other artist ever.

yeah, I feel the same way. I kinda lost concentration at that point. liked the first section the most

yes! that was amazing too see it in the good quality. especially the Jacksons parts. and the behind the scenes footage of The Wiz! I wish they had shown more of that

May I add that i'm also really happy that they didn't do a "The day Michael died" segment in this docu.

What I think was priceless about this docu as it relates to the brothers, was that it showed them with there was absolutely no jealousy in their hearts towards MJ and that they all effectively worked together and gave an ingredient for the recipe.

Yeah, because there was Marlon & Jackie. It wouldn't be the same if Jermaine was there. That's for sure.

another mistake. Steve Manning says: Imagine 11 kids living in a 2 bedroom house

Off The Wall is number #10 on the iTunes USA Charts!

2Bad that the CD version with the doc isn't available yet and it won't be for another 2 and a half weeks. I think that was a mistake. They should have released the album with the doc immediately the next day after it aired. Until the CD is released the album itself will lose the momentum that is having right now. If they were released at the same time the album would chart higher at the Billboard chart.

Also great thing is that the Estate and Sony Music put the audio songs of Off The Wall tracks on official MJ YouTube channel. Because of the new Billboard rules, now every 1500 free streams of the song from the album count as 1 album sold! Stupid rule but it's true! So that's great that they did that. That will also help on the charts.

really good doc not quite as good as Bad 25 for me but that's only because they didn't have aa much footage to work with. 7.5/10 for me.

Watched the documentary tonight , I really have to say I found it boring mainly. LOVED the unseen interviews and some behind the scenes stuff. The gushings over each record part was tedious and just not really that exciting for me sorry;/ Just found it a tad predictable. Hopefully they do release the concert , then I will be happy :)

It's possibly something in the contract that Showtime have exclusive rights to airing the documentary and hosting it on it's streaming platform before The Estate are allowed to release it via other outlets three weeks later.

I wish it was released the day after though, it would certainly help with sales. Unfortunately I think some of the small momentum this doco is carrying right now might be lost in 3 weeks time upon release, hurting both the album and doco sales.

^^But do the preorders count toward OTW sales? The doc runs for at least 2 or 3 weeks and that should lead to preorders.

Well, I just pre-ordered the set anyways.

Cannot believe the importance of the chalk wasn't discussed.

OTW is temporarily out of stock in Amazon
