It would be impossible to try describe the move so I'l just refer to one of the perfromances where he does it for your convenience..
On MTV Awards 95' when "Scream" comes on.. that thing he does with his feet. I think MJ only started doing this move in the Dangerous Era coz its nowhere to be seen on the Bad Tour. Justin Timberlake also tries to do the move in the performance of "Dance Machine" on MSG.
MJ repeats this move again on MTV awards on "Dangerous", just exactly after he sings "but you no damn lover of mine".
I love this move, he does it differently evertime, sometimes he rolls up his sleeves while doing it, sometimes he flickes his other hand while the other lies on his crotch sometimes if he's wearing a fedora he pushes it right infront of his eyes while doing this move.

lol I Hope you guys know what I'm on about if someone can uplaod a video plz do so..

lol...i thought I knew what you were talking about..but ill have to go watch the videos to make sure!!

will return once ive done it. :)

Yer he adopted it from James Brown.

Its my favourite move I love it :D

Its called a 'Spot Shimmy' or something.

The James Brown shuffle.. ya!

it's easy to learn if you give it a lil bit of time.. it's the left foot doing almost everything, the right foot just somewhat naturally fallows because of the way your standing your foot naturally goes into position for balance..

little basic discription..

1) left heal goes out first (facing front of stage)
2) as soon as your heal hits the floor, your going swing your foot facing front
3) your are then going to bring your toes in slightly, tap in on the floor.
4) When you tap it your going to lift your foot off the ground quickly, (Not your leg, just foot) then plant it with the toes facing foward, and your heal slightly off the ground.

It's hard to teach through writting but.. those are the BASIC movements, a lot more goes into it to MJ-ize it. but, this could get you started.

That is one of my favorite moves!

I love it, he makes it look so simple but when you take a look at his feet.. Oh boy.

I have no idea what you're talking about , but I love that move!

Yeah, you can see James Brown do the step too. But Michael does it so cleanly and quickly and with so much ease, its crazy. He doesn't even look like he's trying when he does it, and when he combines it with other movements, he's just so fluid, like he isn't putting in the effort, but like some outside force is making him move.

Is it really called the Shuffle? I always thought the shuffle is that wiggly thing he does on WBBS performance on the History Tour? Oh well..

Anyway you're right when you say alot more goes into it when our golden boy does it, do you notice how he throws his head in exact timing with his feet and how his hip also does a bit of work in this move? One world.. TALENT!

I just remebered MJ does this move on the BET awards when James Brown was being honored!
On this clip while doing this move he grabs the back of his head, claps his hands then as per usual takes a spin and then he does that pointing pose of his.:D

It was first called Harlem shuffle.. Then James Brown (he did not call it that) His fans began to call it the James Brown Shuffle.. From then, other names have came out.. I still call it James Brown shuffle because that is how it became famous..

Like 'Moonwalk', 'backfloat'..

When it was called the backfloat, mainstream was not aware of the move..

You know I think Michael does a more iconic James Brown movement thast can be seen in the WBSS performances like quick wiggly movement with the feet, and he does it facing the audienc straight not even at an angle...I would have thought that was the James Brown shuffle...but thanks for all the info KOPV!

But what Bongani is talking about...omy yeah thats so amazing. I like how its quite interesting timing wise..like the feet move really quicly and then slows down then really quickly and slows down...its so cool...I love it...yeah he did it at the BET awards on stage with James Brown.

haha I thought exactly about that move when I read your post. I had to check it on the video. It looks so easy to do it, but it's not. And this is the situation with his other moves too!
