I'm really happy that they used a more recent picture, and not a picture from the Thriller era. I actually think it's really insulting when Thriller era pictures keep getting used over and over again

How was the artwork made? Was it based on a photo?
It’s based on a photograph given to me by The Michael Jackson Estate; it’s a fairly recent image of Michael but like I say, it’s based on that image and uses parts of it.

i'm glad it's not a thriller era pic too. though i don't consider a picture (seemingly) from the 90s recent ..

^^Your picture makes me think the Xscape cover was based on the TV guide 1999 photo shoot and the 2001 30th Anniversary poster but the artist who photoshopped it ruined Michael's beautiful lips.

At first I wasn't all that thrilled with the cover art, but the more I
look at it, the more I like it. I like the ones where you can see the bottom
half of his face thru the space veil thing. The eyes are really saying something.
The "MJ" logo is a cool touch but you just can't cover those lips. :heart:

I love what Mat Maitland says about this picture that he created, and what he was trying to portray. What do you guys think??

"Michael is all around us, in our universe and beyond, on earth and in outer space."

This line caught my attention right away.
It really seems to pin the words that I could not find to describe MJ...his spirit.

I'd love to see the other arts that didn't make it...

So would I.

I like this...except for the double exposure.
