The X Factor USA -- It’s Michael Jackson Week!

Personally, I do not like any of the performance and I felt that butchered his songs with the exception of Earth Song. I still think no one can do justice to Michael's song except for Michael.

The kids definitely look almost bored..but i heard from a friend that several performances were rather bad, so maybe they were annoyed by that. And Blanket always looks mad, lol. No doubt this has happened, but i'm not sure...have his kids ever seen him really peform? Michael that is, of course?

The kids p and p were at the united we stand concert in 2001 and reportedly at msg. whether they remember i dunno

Poor paris is clueless about latoya and the crap she pulls

instead of having Tinie Tempah performing his mainstream UK music, why don't they have the cirque du soleil perform something about michael to keep to the theme?

Me too but my tv signal sucks tonight so itv2 keeps freezing. Damn.

Ok, what i'm going to say is superficial but i have to say it because it bugs me. Who in the name of God is stilling Prince's hair? His fair cut is just awful !!!

Maybe when its time they decide to go into show business, they will need some help in styling (hair, clothes).

Contestants on The X Factorattempted the impossible Wednesday night – trying to capture the genius of the incomparable Michael Jackson ... in front of his children, no less.

Still, the show's top seven did a mostly admirable job on Michael Jackson night, as Jackson's mother Katherine and his three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, watched from the front row.

Melanie Amaro, in particular, wowed the crowd and the judges with her show-closing rendition of "Earth Song," with Simon Cowell telling the 19-year-old, "I couldn't think of a better way to pay tribute to one of the greatest artists in the world."

The judges had somewhat mixed feelings about the other performances, with Rachel Crow doing the Jacksons's "Can You Feel It," Drew delivering a slow, piano-driven "Billie Jean," Marcus Canty giving a spirited, sweaty performance of "PYT," Astro remixing "Black or White," Josh Krajcik rearranging "Dirty Diana," and Chris Rene adding hip-hop flavor to "I'll Be There."

And all of the singers told PEOPLE afterward that it was a thrill to perform in front of the late pop icon's family.

"It was a honor," Amaro said. "I feel as though he was there through them, and I felt that he was really proud."

But there was pressure, too. "Performing in front of Michael Jackson's family is too crazy," said Drew. "I didn't find out until an hour before they were going to be there. Having them in the audience is way scary. It made me feel like I can't mess it up."

Added Krajcik: "You don't want to not do justice to one of Michael's songs when they are right there watching. It's also an honor to have them there while you are performing. I hope they enjoyed it."

“The X Factor” did no one a favor, including viewers, by making this Michael Jackson Week, forcing all the contestants to sing Jackson songs Wednesday night. Which, of course, provided assorted opportunities to mention that swell Pepsi commercial Jackson made. Pepsi being the show’s main sponsor.
None of the seven finalists proved a particularly good fit for the Jackson songbook, though one, the teenager Drew, at least made things interesting by turning “Billie Jean”into a sort of ballad. Her delivery — simply sitting in a chair, rather than lost in a mob of dancers and background singers like most of her competitors — divided the judges.
“I wanted you to get up from the dang chair,” Nicole Scherzinger said afterward.
At least Drew could be heard, which wasn’t the case with Josh Krajcik, who made a game effort on “Dirty Diana” to open the performances but was drowned out by that army of support personnel. What is this show, a full employment act for recent dance school graduates and vocal accompanists?
Astro, the kid rapper, threw some original material into “Black or White” but wasn’t as good as he has been. Marcus Canty seemed like an afterthought in the overchoreographed “P.Y.T.” Chris Rene was audible on “I’ll Be There,” but in his case that was a bad thing because he sounded wretched (though the judges inexplicably gushed over him).
Also pretty bad was Rachel Crow on “Can You Feel It.” Ms. Scherzinger’s assessment: “I don’t know if I felt that you felt it.” My assessment: Why is this child still in the competition? Agree or disagree in the comments below.
Only Melanie Amaro delivered a relatively memorable performance, belting “They Don’t Care About Us.” She didn’t fit the material any better than the others, but she at least forced you to admit that she has a darn good voice.
Members of the Jackson family were on hand for it all and, when prompted, dutifully proclaimed “The X Factor” to be a wonderful show. The highlight of the evening, though, came when the host, Steve Jones, announced that on Thursday night’s show (where two singers will be eliminated) we’ll learn how we, the audience, can help choose the next batch of songs the competitors will perform. Then we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves.

Michael Jackson's kids sure have the X factor!
Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson attended Wednesday's X Factor live show, supporting the top 7 singers as they performed tributes to the late King of Pop.
In addition to their uncles Jackie, Tito and Marlon, the kids' grandmother,Katherine Jackson, also joined in on the fun, telling X Factor host Steve Jones "this is my favorite show!"
"We didn't know the kids were planning to come! Only about an hour before the show we were told they were definitely coming so we had to get ready for them! Of course everyone was very excited they could make it; it made the show extra special," an X Factor source tells Us Weekly. "They were very polite and sweet, and excited to be there, as was Katherine. They said they'd love to come back. They are all big fans of the show!"

While the kids didn't have the chance to meet the contestants, they did mingle with judges L.A. Reid and Nicole Scherzinger.
Frontrunner Melanie Amaro told Us she felt added pressure performing for the late singer's family and hopes she did them proud.
"It was really something to be able to [sing for the family]," Amaro said backstage after Wednesday's show.

Luckily for Amaro, Katherine Jackson was especially pleased with her rendition of "Earth Song."
"I said hello to his mom, and she said she really enjoyed the performance, so I was really happy about that," she told Us.
Amaro -- along with Astro, Drew, Chris Rene, Rachel Crow, Josh Krajcikand Marcus Canty -- will learn if their tribute performances were enough to save them from a double elimination on Thursday's show.

Good grief, Neil! At least get the song right! Why are you b*tching around anyway? Don't watch it if you think X-Factor didn't do anyone a favour with a Michael Jackson week. Why do you think none of the contestants were good enough? It's because Michael was a genius! Most performers will struggle with his songs!

*edit*
Okay, I watched the show. Of course none of them were as good as Michael, but that was to be expected. I love it when people honour and remember Michael. It was also good to see Mr Branca there. The kids looked fantastic.

I wont see it till tonight but I saw Melanie's performance on youtube and she did an amazing job

For some reason I decided to tape this last night, so imagine how surprised I was when I realised that the kids where there as well. I do agree that at times the seemed bored, but who the heck knows for sure what they were truly feeling. And as for laToya, I was thinking to myself, how the heck did she risk not being there for another photo op?...lol

The best performance of the night though as got to be Melanie Amaro, I don't care for people singing MJ's songs, but if they take it to another, level then I'm all for it.

BTW.....once again another occasion where we see Tito, Jackie and Marlon together without the other brothers...interesting.

... It's funny but not too long ago in one of these shows, somebody sang Earth Song, and one of the judges didn't like the song choice because they didn't think Earth song was a known song or something like that. Now it is a classic which is a great thing because it is! and it has to start being well known here in the U.S. and I say it is about time!
I think it was JLo on idol that said something about the song not well known or something like that a few months ago.
That JLo's comment regarding "Earth Song" on American Idol this year was one of the biggest bull:censored: I have heard on any talent show. Ever!
Check for yourself HERE ... JLo's nonsense start at 2:35  ...and Steven also said that "Earth Song" "wasn't a hit song"! :hysterical:

And now listen Simon's comment about "Earth Song"... listen from 1:07 onwards...
Melanie Amaro - Top 7 - THE X FACTOR USA 2011

By the way, Melanie Amaro! :clapping: Amazing voice, I hope she wins!

Fox topped the rating last night due to MJ Night at #XFactor drawing 10.93 million viewers 8pm & 12.1 mill at 9pm!

Yeah The Fans in the US know Earth Song... but It sucks Sony didn't release it here in the states the right way as with Invincible! Those 2 albums couldve done well here. :(

I notice Blanket is wearing a red button shirt and black pants lol. He really reminds me of Michael the most. Prince and Paris do too but more so Blanket.

What I've noticed is that Jermaine and Randy are not participating in these functions with the other brothers. I am actually glad they aren't. It looks very self-serving and attention getting.

The results show has just started and they have opened with the contestants singing Man In The Mirror.

Some people have already mentioned and I would add a few words...
Michael was perfect in so many different things so people often his perfect singing take for granted. Therefore, I love when contestants on talent shows and/or famous singers sing Michael's songs because then people can see the difference between THE best (Michael Jackson) and all the others. There are/were many great singers but in my opinion two greatest were Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury! Nobody can sing like these two, however some singers can make a great interpretation of their songs like for example Carmen Monarcha "Earth Song" or George Michael "Somebody to Love" ... :)

and isn't he the one according to Jermaine that wrote "Word to the Badd"?
I think so according to Jermaine. Why? - other than how awful that song is between them (if them not sure??) and Jermaine. But My bringing them up wasn't to do with that song I was just helping someone who didn't know who he/they was.
Didn't LA & "Babyface" work on an album of MJ's other than what's mentioned above?

Edit:
If anyone has the 1st part of tonights show please upload I missed MITM TY :)
I found it Tonight's "Man In The Mirror" - X Factor
