It is a well known cliche that many child stars grow up to be less successful as adults, but Michael jackson buck the trend. However, I can't help feeling that much of the public reaction towards him has much to do with them knowing him as a kid. At one interview MJ said that the public just did not want him to grow up. It is almost like the public mindset is not conditioned for this type of change. The growing child changes roght before our eyes. He becomes an adult yet in our minds eye he is still that little kid.
I feel that the entire Jackson clan have suffered from this as well. Had they become stars as adults, the body of work that they did would have been much more respected, but they are underminded because they were so young.
What does anyone else think. Michael's child stardom has in some way been a factor in the way he has been viewed by the public.
