what is going on with greece no realase yet!!!do you know when finally tha album and the sigle will realease???
probably both, firstly they want to check "the best selling album of all time" and secondly because "Akon .... is on it"..... but does it matter?
The most important is that they are introduced to the Michael's album and to his music.... once you fall in love in it - you're 'taken' .... then you want to buy all his albums and you're waitng impatiently for the new one!
And that's the point!![]()
i was the day before yestarday at metropolis and there was nothing and in virgin too..so i must check again today??The singles release have become difficult here because people do not buy singles easily, only one big record store left that is Metropolis and PATSIS follows, Virginstores have become less and less, only where Villagecinemas are, and for now in Athens only Virgin Megastores have got it released. Metropolis Thessaloniki has released it,too, we wait today the rest.
Why don't you come and join us in Greek at www.mjhellas.gr ? We tell the details there.
However the record sales are counted mainly by the sales at Metropolis stores.

It's only a matter of time untill people start wearing Thriller and Beat It jackets again
7? i hardly doubt it. and anyway theres enough fans who arent buying the album at all so it evens its self out.And with fans buying 7 or more copies,
P.S. i thought in USA that you have to sell like 500,000 copies to be the #1 album of the week... not 135,000?
The potential first week success of this album really drives home what a mistake it was for Mike not to perform at the Grammys. further to that, whatever went on behind the scenes behind Mike and the Grammys team, it caused the cancellation of the Thriller25/MJ tribute. If either (or both) of those had occurred I am confident we would have a new #1 album. I hope Mike realises the extent of his mistake.
the purpose of releasing a CD is to sell as many copies of it as possible. In this case it is also to help improve Michael Jackson's image by concentrating on his biggest success and to make the public concentrate on the music.
An album reaching number 1 is the goal of all people involved when an album is released and I don't care what anyone else says, Mike would prefer for this album to be number one in the charts. He will realise by now that performing on the Grammys, or even an appearance or tribute on the Grammys would have greatly improved the chances of that happening. whatever the reasons, the negotiations fell apart and in the end everything was cancelled. Mike's management know it may have cost him another number 1 album, Mike knows that too, and so do the Grammys organisers. All parties would acknowledge that had plans gone ahead, Thriller 25 could be number one in the US. All parties would acknowledge that cancelling the plans has effectively reduced the chances of number one in the states.
Mj fans always try to reconcile Mike's actions and tty to make it seem as tho everything he does is right or for a 'reason'. No, sometimes things are just wrong. You think Mike s sitting at home thinking "I'm glad I didn't go to the Grammys. I'm satisfied that thriller 25 may land in the top 5, even though if I performed/appeared or if there was a tribute, it could have been number 1." Bull. He's thinking "if only I performed on the GRammys, I could have had another number one album to add to my achievements and career tally. That would have helped my 'comeback' even more because it's the best positive promo I could get." You're fooling yourself if you think Mike doesn't regret his decision.
Just cause it's a rerelease doesn't mean Mike wouldn't want it to be number 1, if only for one week.

thriller will always sell well and the remixes ,how ever much i dont like them were a great P.R move in bringing the songs to the next generation. the media always big up thriller because its b4 mj turned into a freak in their eyes. it was ok to like him.and of course be littles all his other work that came after.
the real question is whether sony or whoever it is is prepared to back a new album with a big promo campaign etc like it has done for an album that it knows will always sell a good amount regardless of how old it is

The Grammys are over, and you too need to move on and let it go, if Mike winds up selling more than Amy Whinehouse who did win the most Grammys then come back and tell me how the Grammys were so important.
Thriller spent 37 consecutive weeks at #1 already, ONE more week if he misses out aint gonna hurt. Yikes!
Thriller 25 hasn't spent any time at #1. Many people see this as a seperate project, and it is. The way Billboard will count the sales won't figure in most peoples minds.
You think it wouldn't be better for Thriller 25 to be at #1?
So are you trying to tell me you think that thriller 25 wouldn't be selling more now if he had been on the Grammys performing or appearing in person? That's ludicrous. Also, Amy Winehouse's album has been selling well for months(!), this is Mike's first week. I'd bet anything that Amy's album has been boosted by the Grammys. To say it hasn't benefitted from the Grammys is ludicrous.
Thriller was an era when MJ was at his peak, its the kind of Michael Jackson people want to remember
So MJ releasing THRILLER makes people think back to the days of the 80s when MJ was 'normal' (in there mind) and when he was known for great music etc
So it reinforces a positive image of MJ, so peoples perceptions change, and its all good for releasing the NEW album
If there was a Thriller 25 special planned, it would ideally be shown on TV the same week as the album release to boost sales. That is obviously not what's happening. Sure, the special will boost sales if it is aired later, but the best time would be now.
