Xscape General Discussion

The original "Do You Know Where Your Children Are" surpasses the 2010 version. Sounds a lot more genuine and authentic. It's a perfect fusion of Pop and somewhat, gospel. If the Andraé Crouch Choir had sang background vocals, it would have fitted perfectly on an album like HIStory or even Dangerous.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

As the track list was announced, many complained that its songs we already heard. well, we knew the songs lyrics, but the original versions, with exception of 3 are unheard. and the original versions of Escape and BG aren't 100% the leaked versions.

from the re-worked versions, I love Chicago & LNFSG(+remix). find ok Lovin U, STTR, Xscape.
the rest for me is thumb down. horrible APWNN and that Nintendo sound on most of them is just :censored:

the original versions,
LNFSG, well its a demo, nothing more
Chicago, i like the mood, same as in HT original
Loving you, typical 80s sounding, like in many of the unreleased from those era's
APWNN, love it
STTR, like it, like it :listeningtomusic. its second to the Tricky remix for me
DYKWCA, like it, prefer the 2010 version
BG, love the original
Xscape, classic MJ tune

So over all, reWorks 3:3:2 (love, like, hate), originals 4:4:0

Can make my own version of the album with the songs i like.

If I rate only the reWorks, this album is very forgettable, with only two memorable songs, that stand out and have big potential to become hits in my ears.
Compared to "MichaeL", there are more songs that sound like something Michael would have do. here .
the demos saved for me.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

The album has leaked and its incredible! Reid, Timberland, Stargate and Darkchild have done a great job in staying true to Michael but bringing his music to 2014. I have to say Darkchilds rework of XSCAPE single has blown my mind!
They have set the standard for posthumous albums!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

"Slave to the rhythm" is the weakest in my opinion, I'm talking about the original of course (I didn't listen to any of the remixes). Remind's me of a pop version of Sade's "Smooth Operator" but on steroids, particularly the chorus.

As for "Chicago", well lets just say the Corey Rooney crafted cut sounds like something off Brandy or Monica's 1998 albums. This would have been a filler at best if included on "Invincible". Too bad since Michael gives a pretty hefty vocal performance.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'll have a detailed review on Tuesday, but for now, here's my analysis of the music (some songs have grown on me):

1. LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD
1983 Original Version - 6/10
2014 John McClain Remix - 8/10
2014 Timbaland/Justin Timberlake Remix - 10/10

2. CHICAGO
1999 Original Version - 3/10
2014 Timbaland Remix - 9/10

3. LOVING YOU
1980s Original Version - 10/10
2014 Timbaland Remix - 10/10

4. A PLACE WITH NO NAME
1999 Original Version - 8/10
2014 Stargate Remix - 10/10

5. SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM
1989 Original Version - 6/10
2010 Tricky Stewart Remix - 5/10
2010 Justin Bieber/Max Methods Remix - 4/10
2014 Timbaland Remix - 7/10

6. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE
1980s Original Version - 7/10
2010 John McClain (?) Version - 10/10
2014 Timbaland Remix - 8/10

7. BLUE GANGSTA
1999 Original Version - 9/10
2014 Timbaland Remix - 6/10

8. XSCAPE
1999 Original Version - 10/10
2014 Rodney Jerkins Remix - 10/10

All in all, I give the album a 9/10. The remixes are incredible, and the original versions are quite interesting. This, in essence, is the album MICHAEL should have been.

I will say that I'm MAJORLY disappointed in Chicago. Damien Shields heard the 2010 finalized version and hyped the fan community up more than he should have. The released demo has incredible atmosphere and is actually quite scary to listen to, but as a whole, it's very weak. Timbaland makes it so much better.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Whats with the HISSSSSSSSSS all over APWNN (Original) ?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I'm really impressed by the overall quality of this project. The contemporized versions brings Michael music in 2014 with style and can do well in the charts.
for the fans the original version are there too.
michael voice is always on the top of the mix. I don't have nothing more to ask for this release ( well, maybe I would left out mcClain version of Lnfsg and inserted Hot fun in the deluxe cd. :) )

Yep. Something is off about "Blue Gangster" sounds slow and lethargic. Xscape is somewhat different as well but the clarity of the vocals are supreme on this version. You can actually make out what he's saying.

I agree about those 2 remixes, specifically. "Chicago" was Tim's comfort zone since he flourished in that era crafting a similar "90's R&B" sound for Aaliyah and Ginuwine, so it was easy for him to return to his production roots on that one. His remix [with JT] is pretty swanky as well. I didn't hear the other remixes but I have little to no reservations regarding those two. Sticking with the original outtakes though.

''once in a lifetime'' Michael Jackson's hologram to be unleashed at the billboard awards on ABC May 18th at 8pm et. Unfortunately for the fans across the world, we will only see a compressed youtube recording.

I'm in such a celebratory mood right now! :punk::clap::woohoo::jump:

and don't anybody say this one wasn't promoted! New Jeep ad featuring LNFSG!

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

Remember that 2010 leaks are work in progress for MICHAEL album, not the original versions. Both Do You Know and Blue Gangsta. So stop saying what they did with the songs (suck life out of them...). This is how MJ last left them.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

[h=5]i cant't take much more perfection michael where are youuuuuu can you see us going nuts over you???[/h]

I agree, the song's production and sound instantly reminded me of some later Whitney Houston tracks by Jerkins like "It's Not Right But It's Okay" (Jerkins himself re-used lots of sound F/X from his earlier produced songs for INVINCIBLE).
The song surely has potential but it's just a draft, too repetitive and unspectacular IMO.

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

How is the mastering? Particularly on the demos?

Re: News and discussion about new MJ album : Xscape, May 13, 2014.

I just googled MJ Xscape and there are leaked versions every where. It's true that nowadays songs get leaked a week or or more ahead of the real release. But they did good with the non-leak until the day before with Mike... It's awesome!

... but anyways... I personally like DYKWYCA... and Xscape... ish* Timbo killed it... and then some... I don't know if i can handle anymore excitement... esp. with the demos... This is crazy insane!!!!!:swoon: :woohoo:

I just listened to the full album Track 1 through 17.
Just wanna say: There is not one bad song on this great album, which is Xscape by Michael jackson.
There is not one failed job by any of the producers.

In some instances the OG is better for me & in some instances the new mix is better to me.
But all in all, this XSCAPE album is perfect TO ME.
Truly #TheBestIveNeverHeard

I wish for You all MJJC'ers, that you could enjoy this album, as much as i do & for what it truly is. A great collection of 8 songs, each interpreted in different, yet always in beautiful ways!

Thank You to John Mc Lain & Giorgio Tuinfort
& Last not least Thank You to LA Reid
