"If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with." - Michael Jackson

One of my favorite quotes from Michael Jackson. Sometimes quotes and wise words can help one understand or be used as a supportsystem when times are though. Or, some quotes are just straight up funny! Do you have any quotes by Michael Jackson that you would like to share? :)

Fashion Week 2009

New York Fashion Week 2009 began Friday, February 13th and from what I've been reading there have been fabulous reviews on Jason Wu's collection, as well as Alexander Wang (which I've mentioned before and he is AMAZING).

Alexander Wang's models were covered in black head to toe, but there were the occasional white and purple clad. But his collection gave a very rock-like kind of feeling. His show ended with Michael Jackson's "Thriller," which gave this grungy but cool feeling. I loved look #35 and #36. These dresses looked like you could wear them for a nice dinner, and then for a night out dancing. I love the one shoulder strap dresses, and I especially love the one that has a semi sweetheart cut along the bust.

Elvis still generating big bucks

ELVIS Presley's best mate Joe Esposito talks about the man, the money and the memories in an exclusive look at the extraordinary value of Elvis the asset.

Mr Esposito (71) retired in December after working as a casino host in Las Vegas.
He first met Elvis in the late 1950’s after they were both drafted in the US Army for duty in Germany.

“I was an office clerk in Chicago and was drafted when I was 20. Most of the guys, including Elvis, were 23. I though getting drafted would change my whole world. It did,” he said.

“I met Elvis, we struck up a friendship and before I left the Army in March 1960, he asked me to come and work for him.

“At my discharge from the Army I was told I had flat feet and a bad ankle. I was also too young. I shouldn't have been in the Army in the first place, yet it was fate. I met Elvis and he changed my life.''

He worked for Elvis for 17 years, was the best man at Elvis' 1968 wedding, was a pallbearer at Elvis' 1977 funeral and went on to manage the Bee Gee's, Michael Jackson and John Denver.
He was sacked five times by Elvis - usually an overnight event because it was forgotten the next morning - and endured the bitterness that came with a tell-all 1976 book “Elvis - What Happened?'' written by former Elvis bodyguards.

“That book crushed him,'' he said.

“It was all he talked about - `why did they say those things?' he would say. It hurt him tremendously.

“The book, with all its negativity, depressed Elvis. He took pills and more pills. I think that 50 per cent of the cause of Elvis' death was that book.''

MARLON JACKSON ANGERS NIGERIANS WITH MUSEUM PLAN: (also reported in yesterdays thread)

Singer to build Jackson 5 museum at historic slave port.
*Michael Jackson's brother Marlon is caught up in a controversial plan that will transform the site of an historic slave port in Nigeria into a $3.4 billion slavery memorial that will double as a luxury resort and museum honoring the Jackson 5.

The idea is that the Jackson name will help attract African-American tourists looking to trace their roots back to Nigeria. Organizers believe the plan will honor the history of the transatlantic slave trade and provide employment opportunities for Nigerians.
The plan, however, has been criticized heavily by citizens. Critics dismiss it as a cynical money-making scheme, inappropriate for the subject of such seriousness as the transatlantic slave trade, reports the BBC.

The developers say the Badagry Historical Resort will be marketed to African-Americans as a mixture of luxury tourist attractions and historical education. Visitors will be able to see the route their ancestors walked before boarding slave ships. They can then retire to their five-star hotel to drink cocktails by the pool.

Visitors will also be able to pay their respects at the site of a mass grave for those who died before boarding ships across the Atlantic Ocean – then travel a few yards in a buggy to play a round of golf. They can visit a replica slave ship to see the conditions Africans suffered, before visiting the world's only museum dedicated to the career of the Jackson 5.

The idea to house the Jackson 5 museum on the sacred site came to Marlon Jackson during a trip to Nigeria.

"The Jackson Family had been looking for a place to site their memorabilia collection for some time," says Gary Loster, a former mayor of Saginaw, Michigan, and chief executive of The Motherland Group. "We visited the site of the slave port in Badagry and Marlon turned to me and said: 'Let's put it here, this is right.' It's such an emotional place, and I think we all felt that it was the right place to have the Jackson family memorial."

Today in
Michael Jackson History

1998 - It was announced that Michael Jackson was planning a benefit called "We Are The World 2" for starving children in North Korea.

2003 - "Dateline NBC" aired a segment entitled "Michael Jackson Unmasked."

MJsexbomb, are you trying to give me a heartattack with that picture you posted. LOL!

I'm one of the "older" members, you have to go easy on me. Where's my blood pressure medication. I nearly fell off of my chair.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MICHAEL JACKSON. Look at the picture. Look at his expression. I just can't stand it. LOL!

I know he in some way worked with MJ, but I don't think he actually managed him. But obviously he had a nice relationship with MJ because Joe Esposito is one of the few in Presley camp that has always been very positive about MJ's relationship with LMP when asked about it.

Jackson Gives Blessing on Neverland Auction

Fans of the King of Pop may soon have the opportunity to own a piece of his former estate.
Michael Jackson has given his blessing to Julien's Auctioneers and their attempts to raise money by selling off items in his former residence, the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
In November of last year, the cash-strapped singer transferred ownership of the ranch to the Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. - but left many items on the premises.
Julien's will be auctioning nearly two-thousand of those items from April 22 - 25. The estimated total value of all the items on the block is $1.5 million to $3 million.
Jackson is reported to have already gone through the home and kept pieces for himself "that were personal and sentimental."
The singer will get the proceeds from the auction except for a portion to benefit MusiCares, a charity that helps musicians when they are down and out.
Up for grabs are several of Jacksons rhinestone studded gloves and socks. His 1999 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph limo, and the gates to the Neverland Ranch.
For a preview of the items up for grabs you can visit the Julien website by clicking here.

lol..they never get it right. there's no such thing as a newscast, anymore. it's an editorial cast now.

am i the only one wondering why these items are going so cheaply?

I did notice however that the proceeds are going to a well known chrity. So thats good.

And yea why is he getting rid of his awards? those would be something i would want to keep if i earned them.

I would think if any of it was dear to him he'd kept it, obviously it isn't and he's selling what he feels he doesn't need to keep.

I dont believe that..... I think in some ways its all dear to him its just he hasnt got the room for it. Although the awards are another story.....

I feel bad that he feels he has to sell any of his things but they are his so he can do what he pleases with them... Me for one i would Love to have something from this but i dont have the extra cash to bid.

I love Michael as much as the next fan but hes doing what he feels he must so we have to support him. He is giving some of it to cherity so its all good...

It is up to Michael.

you know, i think it was because it was like a child being violated..yes..i said it..in that his personal paradise was violated by those disgusting 'cops'. i dare say he wants to distance himself from that sullying memory. when you consider what they did to him, personally as well as to his property on more than one occasion...it's metaphorically like an episode of that predator show in america. so..now..mostly..it's just...things to MJ, now, i dare say. i can't think of any other reason for him to depart from most of it. who would've thought that anything could seperate him from such a personal place..but something did. something vile. in a way, it never loooked like he got closure from those vile 'people', with Sneddon in the lead. maybe this is a start. i feel like i needed to say this, cus..in a way, it feels personal to me...i know it's MJ, not me..but....this is one of many ways he is special to me. i felt like i was violated, when Neverland was violated. and even if this post gets deleted...it was worth it to get it off my chest..even if i am way off base on MJ's feelings on this...which i dare say..i doubt.

i agree with most of what you said. But why is he getting rid of the painting of Prince? thats his son wouldnt you want to keep something like that?

And the awards. I know i keep going on and on about them but he earned them and should keep them.
