It may have been a paid appearance. I understand that it's common these days... or they may have been willing to do it as a favor to Jan.... who knows....
 
You know, I saw the video of them...and I have to say...I agree about Family. They are brothers, and they were there with each other. They are a class act. I bet Michael would have wanted to be there...and he probably knows just how much of a commotion would happen if he was!! But it was nice to see all 4 of them together...

Not to mention that the brothers are probably starved for attention/exposure anyway. Not so hard to figure out their motivation.

And they probably did invite MJ, just like MJ was invited to Jay-Z's thing. But the last thing I remember MJ being seriously up in a club was NYC's Studio 54. Anyone seriously thinking that he was going to be all in JD's house was wishful thinking at best...

Hey and I grew up in SW ATL, so I'm feeling ya! :lol:

Yeh Girl Panthers in-the-house! :D

Left there and moved to DC/Maryland, chiiile came back 15 years later and they re-zoned and it got all thugged out - can you believe they're 'bout to tear it down now - Lawd ha' mercy

But yeh - Fairbuuuuuurn Road in the house! :lol:

they will actually perform there this year, I hope so.

Dang, that party must have been corny. All I will say is this - JD never said that MJ was going to be there. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a long time. I can't believe we're all still here! After all these years. Still waiting for a little somethin' from Mike....waiting for him to walk by, say something, dance, anything!!! :lol:

Yup, I missed Marlon, Jermaine, Tito and Jackie.

Anyway, yeah, I was one of those fools who ended up believing that JD would clear the club out and have the Jackson 5 (I knew Mike wouldn't come -- hell, I'm surprised the rest of them actually were there) come in from the sky. I knew it wasn't true, but you know how when you found out the Tooth Fairy wasn't real, you still hoped it was real? Anyway, I kept hope alive and kept going in and out of that club like I was the only one who knew a "big secret or something". I said, there's no way in HELL the Jacksons would show up here (even though they kept saying they would), but at least we'll be the first outside the club before there's a bum rush to get to the door. And sure enough, I missed all them inside (I wasn't the only one, there were other people standing outside with me at midnight too thinking "ok when's he gonna empty the club?"). So, after that, I walked back in for a minute and then took off. I must have been there a total of 30 minutes tops cause I didn't get there until a little after Janet got there which was sometime around the 11:30 mark. I couldn't find a place to park and that funky looking valet line was out to the curb cause they were taking FOR ever to park people's cars.

I tell you what, that music play list is what really threw me. I would've stuck around to listen to some good music and I would've actually seen them. But that music drove me out of that club. Oh that and the dresscode: Don't get me wrong, some dressed nice, but a lot of young bucks had on the same ole' same ole-- some people just don't know how to dress man. If somebody invites you to see the JACKSONS, don't go throw on your beat up size 15 1/2 sneakers, an oversized jersey and some sagging pants! That's the Jacksons, MAN!!! Not Lil' Jon!!!!!!:mad:

Oh and then, when I was driving home, I kept it tuned to that radio station and they kept saying "hosted by the Jackson 5" and I was like: What the hell are you talking about? I didn't see no Jackson 5. Jackson ONE (Janet), but no Jackson 5! :mad: :lol: I can't believe that 4 of them were all there right under my nose. Oh well.


.... Oh and anybody who says that club was "awesome" probably hasn't been to a real club or seen anything outside the Deep South. The inside was not up to snuff - not something you would expect from a major producer and record exec. If you've ever seen a nice club you'll know what I'm talking about. That club was so wrong. Words can't describe how disappointed I was when I pulled into that parking lot. I was like "...this can't be it..."! Seriously, I've been to some really nice clubs in Miami, Vegas, LA, Orlando, NYC -- this club was a shopping center with beats and chicken dancing. Did you see that girl in the video? What was she doing? :eek: That ain't dancing!

They'd have had to pull their limo behind the Crow limo and it would've been a class act all the way. (still not classy enough for Michael mind you) I still can't believe they advertised this on V-103 - that makes no sense considering the J-5 is an ole school group - no matter who needed a 'favor' - the crapp should've either made sense or not been done at all - and I still can't believe those guys showed up for this

Looks like the brothers tried to make the best of a bad situation tho and tried to have some kinda fun and I do wish I could've been there to meet them.

They should have called JD's club: Club Anti-Climax. Bring your funkiest drawers. Got to be 18 to enter, 21 to drink and a Chicken to dance. DJ "No-Rhyme or Reason" will spin all those played out records that should have neva made it to radio or the internet from 2005, 2006 and 2007 like the Whisper Song from the Ying Yang Twins, Crank Dat by Soulja Boy and "Chocolate Rain" by Tay Zonday!

...Seriously. Why even bother bringing in the Jacksons for that? For real.

I really am appreciating these blow-by-blows you and MsMo are giving us. I'm shaking my head for these brothers right now. There couldn't have been nearly enough money in it for them to justify this, that's why I say they did it out of the kindness of their hearts. Even with that, I'm quite sure such a fiasco never would have happened if they'd learned from Michael. They deserve so very much more, so very much! I'm wondering what was Janet even thinking! :unsure:

buuut it was really very NICE of them to show up :yes:

hopefully they learned something from this and hopefully it won't do their image any harm ^_^

I brought this new year in at home and yeh, I think I probably still had more fun that y'all did :lol:

she genuinely loved young people with all her heart and every young person in her presence knew it without a doubt, they were sincerely cared for, if she was still there when u were

she even shared her room with me when I was four:wub:

well at least Janet had her big brothers with her giving her and JD support... and if the J5 are going to tour.. it surely gives them a feel of scene today...to get them back in touch...

they were playing clubs as little kids... so maybe it was even a DejaVu .. moment in there for them...

I guess there's something to be said for that but still..

for DejaVu they could have done the Apollo and solved much in one - made some money, cinched their name, Jan and JD could've done a surprise appearance and it would have brought the New Year in right

but its all good

I guess it'll be no harm no foul in the end
 
Isn't it a contractual issue that Michael can't take part?
