Janet on Larry King Tonight on CNN

Calm down, sheesh, I was just stating my opinion and I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. That is never my intent. I've listened to the Jackson Five and the Jacksons a great deal and I have a large collection of their music, so I'm not basing anything on nothing. Its just my take. There are many artists who have made it on their own, with their own talent, far less gifted then Michael, and I know that, given Michael's extraordinary abilities, he could have easily have made it on his own, if he really wanted to, with or without his family. Saying he couldn't have is unrealistic and meaningless since he started with a family act. But the man is a genius and if others less talented have made it on their own, so too could have Michael. His brothers are a part of his history and I respect each and every member of the Jackson family, but that doesn't mean I have to think they're talented or think they add anything to Michael. He's better on his own, in my view and I'm not the only one who feels that way, far from it, in fact.

I agree, i just think that unfortunately people feel like Mike should be indebted to them and that is wrong, if they weren't his family would we still demand the same of him? i can tell you NO! lead singers leave groups all the time and none of them get as much abuse as Mike do when it comes to reuniting with his brothers, those lead singers get to go on and have their solo career and beyond, it would be like for example people wanting Justin Timberlake to be forever tied to NSYNC, nobody would expect that of him and neither should we or Mike's family for Michael to do this reunion gig, not right or fair jmho.

I don't see the big whoop of what people are fussing about when it comes to the 'jacksons' argument..

Yes the Jacksons for the most part are talented, but no one can deny that they were out shined by Michael. There is a reason why he is where he is. And Yes there was less talented members of the Jacksons than others, one in particular. But they are talented, I love the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons. But Michael was put in the lead at an early age because he was too magical, he stole the spotlight without trying.

I would like Michael to do solo performances, then do an HBO special which will have suprize guests. THE JACKSONS coming on stage for parts they can do in HIS act. Like Motown medly etc.. But it's HIS show..

I do love the idea of Janet opening though..

P.S. I liked the episode a lot. for many reasons.

Michael Jackson outshines anyone he stands next to on stage, that doesn't mean that the others have no talent or they are useless. Nobody ever argued that MJ was not the most talented of the Jacksons, but there is no need to put them down and call them talentless so as to big up Michael .MJ doesn't need any bigging up. The Jacksons are loved by a whole generation of people that grew up with them. They are not young anymore but they would still love to see the Jacksons together for old time sake. No one that knew the Jacksons when they were growing up would ever say no to a Jackson reunion. Many in the black community are Jackson fans, some may not care for a Michael Solo performance but wouldn't hesitate to go see the Jacksons. In fact it s obvious that the whole world would like t see a Jackson tour.
Jermaine's story was met with enthusiasm right around the world. Many genuine Jackson fans have supported Michael throughout the year, even when they don't care for the songs he is singing right now.

I LOVED this interview. it was really very good.
as far as the tour is concerned. are you kidding me? i would kill to see Michael up there with his brothers and Janet as the friggin opening act!! i doubt if they do do it it would just be all Jackson 5 material. that would just be ridiculous. The way I envision it would be mainly Michael doing his solo stuff and then bringing out his brothers for the Jackson 5 songs. that would be out of this world. i would be first in line to buy a ticket.

Yeah, that's how I picture it too. And if you're first, I'm second ;).

A new tour by the Jackson would rock the world. Janet and Michael would have an opportunity to perform scream together live then.

I totally agree with all of that! I am a huge fan of The Jacksons/The Jackson 5 as well and believe all the other Jackson brothers are talented, especially Jermaine, but if Michael ever decides to tour again or do a concert special, I would prefer that he perform solo. I mean If all the brothers had to tour again, do you honestly think most people would be going to see them? No, of course not. Michael would be the main attraction of course. Without him you have no show.

I think the idea about having the other brothers come out to do a Motown Medley is a great idea though! That I would love to see, but I'm sorry I have no interest in watching the other brothers perform for 2 hours or whatever it is. I want to see them do maybe a 15 minute set of all their hits with Michael and then they can go lol.

I think you are mistaken. The Jacksons and J5 had just as many fans as Michael alone. They were called the Black Beatles. The Jackson fan followed MJ's career but it is the jackson music that they long for. There is a world wide desire to see them back again, Here in britain everybody was talking about it. It was reported all over the world when Jermaine said they were reforming, America will turn up in large numbers to see them cause they still remember them and still love them. See the uproar and the elation when they made their last appearance. MJ is magic on stage, but MJ with his 5 brothers are even more astounding, nothing better.:)

I don't think it really matters because whether Michael shows up on stage alone or with all of his siblings, people will break their collective necks to see them and/or him. Period.

No one is going to say, 'aw hell naw'... I ani't going to see Michael because he is touring with his brothers and sisters.

Michael is great. Everyone who is a fan of his agrees with this. But as I have stated before, whether one thinks of his family as talented or not, these people are his family and members on this board will respect Michael's family.

I don't understand why these comparison discussions start up in threads like these. This thread is about Janet's interview with LK. Given that she has very kind words for her family and her brother Michael, that is what we should be celebrating and appreciating.

Well if this was back in the 70's and early 80's, I would agree with you. MJ and his brothers were something else on stage together back then, but these days I'm afraid it wouldn't work as well given their age and everything. And I know how big The Jacksons were at their prime, but at no time were they are as big as MJ was when he was at his prime as a solo artist. Michael does not need his brothers to sell out worldwide. Michael going on tour overseas by himself would sell out just as fast,if not faster than if he were to tour with his brothers. Old school fans probably prefer MJ with his brothers no doubt, but I still think the majority of the public would prefer to see MJ by himself and really do not care much about the other brothers.

Like I said before though, I have no problem seeing them perform all together but not for an entire concert. I understand that you would like them to reunite but I would just prefer to see MJ tour solo with his brothers only making a minimal appearence.

You do not know what people want, you can only speak for yourself. The vibe I get is that a Jackson reunion is big news.:)

Wow,I never thought My post would get 4 pages. Thanks Peeps for your interest. I think Janet teaching Mr. King how to do that small little routine was cute. I died laughing. I wanted to see it again at 12 am the next morning but at the very end CNN had Breaking news about Prince Harry who was deployed in AFGHANISTAN ever since DECEMBER and Some news outlet told of his whereabouts,so the last segment was cut but for those nightbirds who stayed up for the 3am show,They did show it. I miss Taping it the first time but I know they are going to repeat it over this weekend or sometime in the near future. Go to CNN for Larry King schedules on shows or as I see they had it ready for YOU TUBE as I predicted. I'm glad you enjoyed the show and I do Hope That maybe someday, The Jacksons will tour w Janet opening for them. What a Show that would be ? A Blockbuster I think. If it happens,I'll have my Carmel and My Candies Apples ready along with my Popcorn.I think I'll call Madea to join me in watching the show. LOL.......

Why can't we talk about the J-5 possibly reuniting? It's relevant since Janet talked about it on Larry King last night. No one is being disrespectful or anything, so I don't get what the problem is. This is a discussion board isn't it?

come onnnnn Mike! we need a Jackson reunion. perfect timing too while they're still.. you know..

and just for a short while. maybe a few months tour and a nice TV special. perfect. MSG reunion was something special too, barring N'Sync and all... they'd be a massive hit.

That's fine, but i'm not too concerned with what others want or don't want to be honest as it has no bearing on how I feel. I would prefer to see Michael tour alone, that's all. You have your opinion and I have mine.

You're right. Michael is the aspect of the Jackson Five which seperated them from every other singing group on the streets of Gary and Michael is the reason they got out of Gary. People wouldn't pay to go the the Jackson brothers without Michael. If they would, if the brothers thought they would, they would have gone off on tour a long time ago, without Michael. Bottom line is, they need Michael, but Michael doesn't need them. I'm not trying to be mean or disrespectful, I'm just being realistic and I only pointed out what his brothers can't do to exemplify what I meant when I said they hold him back, I wasn't trying to put them down to bring Michael up, I was just being honest. They can't do his dance routines, the only other one who really can sing is Jermaine, Michael has better musicians on stage with him during his solo tours and he brings all the charisma that's needed. A review of the 1981 Triumph tour said it might as well be called "The Michael Jackson Show", because Michael had pretty much taken over and was badly outdoing his brothers at that point. And Michael has proven that, as a solo artist, he has more appeal. You only have to look at the level of fame and sales success he achieved when he went out on his own. "Off The Wall" became the biggest selling album by a black artist ever, while "Triumph" fizzled on the charts. "Thriller" became the biggest selling album ever, while "Victory" basically bombed. Michael is more successful on his own and there's a reason for that. If Michael wanted to tour with his brothers, then I would be totally supportive of that. But from what Janet says, it doesn't sound like he does, and he should be left alone.

I know that. But I was just giving my opinion on why I think Michael is better on his own and I wasn't disrespecting his family, I was merely making a comment on their artistic abilities. He NEEDS his family on a personal level, but artistically, he doesn't. And the reason this conversation started was because of what Janet said regarding trying to get them together, so its somewhat related, lol.

o_o how did we get to that!? isn't it blatantly obvious that Michael doesn't need anyone to be successful? talk about rubbing it in LOL

but if there's ever going to be a Jacksons reunion again, he sure will need them!! we need a Jackson brothers tour before they lose their ability/willingness to perform. they'd be a hit, guaranteed.

Dang mello, sorry. I didn't see your post before. If you want to delete my posts, feel free. I wouldn't have posted them had I seen your request before.

You can! But this thread is not about this. If you want to discuss that, then start another thread. That's the point.

Sorry this is late... (I've been working on the Autism LKL show that was on just the day before Janet's LKL interview)

I'm still working on trying to see where I can share this ONLINE, but for now you can download this in decent .wmv format from link below:
