You can give them medicine by opening their mouths, putting it as far back on the tongue as possible, or by injection. I remember having to give our horses shots. I got good at it but at first it's really hard to do because you don't want to hurt them. But you kind of tap hard three times with the side of your hand (heal of hand?) while holding the needle, just the tip part though, on the third time you put the needle in. That way they don't really notice it. But your vet will help you with all that, or should. That's how we used to do it, Perhaps there are better ways now but that always worked for us.
