DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT?

On May 12, 2008, a foreclosureauction for Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch was canceled after an investment company, Colony Capital LLC, purchased the loan. Jackson was in default on the $24.5 million owed on the 2,500-acre (1,000 ha) property. In a press release, Jackson stated, "I am pleased with recent developments involving Neverland Ranch and I am in discussions with Colony and Tom Barrack with regard to the Ranch and other matters that would allow me to focus on the future."

SIX MONTHS AGO THIS WAS PUT TOGETHER....perhaps this was going on for awhile and this was to allow mj to move his stuff out of the house.

he hasn't been back to the ranch since he left after the verdict. it's a house, not a home to him.

whomever this person was that chose us to give the information to did it for a reason. it seems in the best of intentions and we have people attacking the reason, the website, and each other for something that doesn't even belong to them.

this is a new day and we're moving forward...i was reading the last part of the post from applehead and they said that the new pics of mike should be our indication of how he's feeling....weren't we so damn happy to see those new pics and wondering what he had planned?

maybe this was it....letting us know he's ok and things will be fine. he is NOT neverland and neverland is NOT him. it's a state of mind...read the book, you'll know. he just created a physical entity to represent his feelings. many people have been helped at that place and the time has come and gone. it's a new day and a new era, so to speak.

But where does it say that MJ SOLD the property. How do we know this is not just a name change, for whatever reason.

All who are freaking out here, read this (above?). And THINK, is it not better to have the simple facts posted here, than RF gloating and spinning and using this info for his own greedy, purposes? As SoSo pointed out, Michael has looked relaxed and HAPPY in recent pictures. Should that not tell you something? This has obviously been in the works for awhile.

Michael is an entertainer and it is his art that should be the primary source of conversations here. I sold a house a couple of years ago, and no one questioned whether or not that was the right thing to do in my life (it was), or if the deed of sale was REAL? (it was)

I think we should look forward to a new and happy phase in Michael's life!

Then just wait and see. Why would he change the name? Go through all that just for a name change? It's a house, not a reg. trademark of anything. people name things all the time, Graceland is b/c it's now a business....but hmmmmmm

y'all can believe this or don't believe this. wait for mj to get around to making a statement or not. it's purely whatever, IMO.

maybe he's happy b/c the burden of NVR is gone.

he hasn't been there in three yrs, honey, so if this was done, it was done for the better.

y would we be mad or angry if he sold a property? especially one that he hasn't been to in a long time. it's fine, rockstar. he'll still be the KOP

Well why would they change the name back to it's original name, instead of giving the joint and BRAND NEW name?

Also, have you read the actually documents? I'm trying to figure out why the word "SOLD" is being used. I looked on the site, but couldn't read any actual documents.

I really don't know what some of you are fussing about. If you look at what is posted on the site (the link given) this is a standard transfer of deed. As happens in a sale of property? Michael does not need to confirm or deny anything. This was a personal choice that is now a matter of public record. He has chosen to move on with his life, and I think we should be happy for the closure and wish him well.

By the request of administration, I've added the MJJC position on this matter to the initial post of this thread. I will repost here for those who've already read this far!

Michael Jackson has sold Neverland. MJJC admins have decided to allow discussion of this topic because it will be discussed all over the blogs and other forums. when there is a title handover, it's sold. u no longer own the place...it's simple, right?

i believe u need to pay in order to view the actualdocuments BUT the title says it all. deed transfer

remember, this guy from colony is from santa barbara/santa ynez...he's a 'neighbor' of mj's so he knows all about the land in that area....he was there when it was sycamore, he was there when it was nvr, and now he chose to make it sycamore again.

y would mj file paperwork to change a name of his house?

Awww hun, everything's gonna be ok.... :better:

Michael has been out and about lately, and if you notice he's been looking happier than ever so clearly he's happy with this decision and the way things are going with his life.
Let's remember what he went through there and it's just time to move on.

It is a "deed-transfer." That means, a SALE. A deed is transferred when property is sold.

The name is now Sycamore Ranch because it is no longer Neverland, because the property was SOLD, and because that was the original name of the ranch when Michael bought it. The name is historical to the area.

I know some fans think it's the only place that MJ really had to live LOL but sometimes shaking off dead weight is the only way you can go forward in life.

Well, I'm kinda grinnin that RF didn't break the news. must be a big blow to his ego if he founds everyone knew already in the fan community, and that he didn't have the scoop.

was better. I am saddened to Neverland is a place so beautiful that Michael has to be the world particularly it be sold. But unfortunately Neverland brought bad things in his life today and believe that Michael no longer look at that place as before. Michael ball now on, I only saw something will come good things in your life ... is that we want fans ... Only good things in your life !!!!!!! we will always be with you ... no matter what!

I don't think the property is actually sold. Without seeing any of the documents, it's impossible to tell in what context the documents were filed. However, going by the docket it looks this way to me:

1) The Termination Agreement:

The agreement between Michael and 1224 LLC (the Original Colony Capital entity that took over the loan) was terminated

2) Assignment Deed of Trust

The property was transferred from 1224 to Sycamore LLC which if you go by LeslieHu's info is STILL a Colony entity

3) The Reconveyance

A document that still keeps Michael involved with the the process of titles, deeds, etc. This document probably outlines what it is Michael has to fulfill or do (the terms) for the property to transfer back to him at some point. It's THIS document that means Michael is STILL involved with the property. Otherwise, there would be no use for it. The Deed would be done without his name being involved any further regarding the title.

4) The Grant Deed

It looks like NOW the agreement is between Michael and Sycamore (still Colony but a different slice of Colony).

Seems like some sort of transfer. And sometimes with transfers you HAVE to terminate one agreement (the one with 1224 LLC) in order to enter into another (the one with Sycamore LLC).

I think the Reconveyance document is the thing that sorta/kinda tells the tale on the surface, without seeing the documents in full.

I don't think it's sold in the way people have assumed. I could be wrong tho. Time will tell. :cheeky:

Oh, please don't be upset by this. Michael surely knew it was all in the works and he looked happy and relaxed in the photos from LA.

I don't think he has to make a statement. This is his personal choice, not his artistic production. The deed of transfer is in the public record.

This just makes me sad:( but if MJ doesn't have any feeling attach to it anymore and feel much happier to let go of it, then that's best for him.

I have to agree with vncwilliam on this. Without actually seeing the documents, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the property is no longer Michael's. And maybe that's why Michael was happy as well. He's finally been able to come to some sort of terms or agreement to keep the property?

I think we all knew the outcome really its when it happens thats the heartbreaking thing, because michael had more good memories there than bad. wen you think of all the stars who are mjs friends who have visited
who have now passed on its sad.

Hmm...I think its friggin bogus that fans who think this is sad is being talked down upon. A wrong was done to MJ and if that wrong wasn't done, none of this would be in discussion right now. If INJUSTICE wasn't done, this would be a non-issue. I think it's bogus that people feel it's silly to find something a LITTLE wrong with that, despite how MJ "MAY" be happy now (who the hell knows how how he's feeling really), despite how MJ SEEMS to have moved on or whatever, despite those who for some odd reason despise or detest the "heal the world side" of MJ and want it gone.

People can say on this board that MJ can't sing anymore, that MJ is too old to do this and that, and no one says a dang thing. But when something like this raises negative concerns, oh, then those being so called "negative" are in the wrong. Are u kidding me?

Whatever. MJ let it go, I'll let it go, and yep, I'm gonna pretend everything about that is fine and dandy. Happy days.

I really DO hope that MJ really IS happy with this, and I really DO hope that the axing of Neverland doesn't represent the axing of some of the ideals he held close to him.

So my NEW question is: WHO OWNS SYCAMORE RANCH COMPANY?

Without being able to view the actual documents, how do we know that MJ didn't transfer the property into a NEW company he may have set up.

Please remember that Michael hasn't been there in a number of years, clearly it doesn't mean as much as it once did to him.
Neverland is a piece of land, what that place stood up for is still alive IMO, only that is alive on Michael's heart, not on a property.
