I WAS RIGHT - Jackson Brothers and A&E at the "AfterParty"

In case no one ever read this, MsMo posted this in another thread about the series. It says MJ himself is in the show, this was written on Aug. 25:

Docu-series chronicles plan to mount reunion shows

The project, which was in the works with L.A.-based Point Seven Entertainment long before Michael Jackson's death on June 25, will now depict the impact of Michael's death on the extended Jackson clan.

A&E had planned to do at least an hourlong special focusing on the brothers' plans to mark the 40th anniversary of the group's breakthrough with its first Motown recordings.

The Jackson 5 reunion shows were to have coincided with Michael Jackson's big comeback push with his 50-concert stand at London's 02 Arena, which had been skedded to begin last month. Michael Jackson was to have taken part in the reunion shows with brothers Marlon, Tito, Jermaine and Jackie, and he appears in the footage shot for the special from January through early June of this year...

Gomes is a longtime friend of the Jacksons and a veteran producer who previously ran Magic Johnson's TV production shingle. She said the brothers gave serious consideration to tabling the show, but they recently decided to move forward in order to use it "as an outlet to communicate with their fans," Gomes said.

"The Jacksons have been courted to do a reality series for the past three to five years, but the timing was never right," Gomes told Daily Variety. "We got together last summer and started to plot out the 40th anniversary plans, and we decided it was time to do a show.

With Michael's death, a major focus of the hourlong series will be the impact of the pop legend's death on his brothers and their families, Gomes said.

not true at all , MJ had never agreed to participate in the shows, the jerksons shopped it everywhere and everyone turned them down because mj was not part of it , only when mj died and the jerksons brothers offered to include "mj" in it , the producers agreed to go on with the shows , please don't post LIES .
 
A&E? Exactly what is that?

I also heard the part we didn't see during the funeral will be in the This is it 'movie' .........

A&E is a TV Network that is airing their new show. As of now, that's just rumors that the funeral will be part of the movie....but I wouldn't be surprised.

First let me please explain.. I don't like ppl saying that it's an afterparty because it's NOT. It's called a repast.

It's something Black Americans have done traditionally following a funeral. It's a time for friends and family to gather, eat, remember their loved one who's just passed and catch up on each other's lives. It is NOT an afterparty.

Jut an FYI.

NO comment really on the footage being used for the A&E show. I'll come back later and comment on that... but I just didn't want ppl to think this was really an AFTERPARTY. That's not what it is..
 
Micahel never agreed to do the A&E Reality show.

If they do include MJ, it would go against his wishes - and the only way that they can use his footage is if the executors of the estate give their approval AND proceeds from the syndication and sale of DVDs will go to charities/ MJs estate.

Ditto and I'm usually the first to defend them, but I got suspicious when I saw that sound boom. No one has that kind of equipment there unless they are filming and since the media didn't have control over the feed, it had to be the family's. UGH.
 
My poor Janet was damned with money grubbing/desperate siblings! :( She seems to be the only one with a heart!

I don't think that report is right, didn't A&E even put out a statement saying Michael wasn't a part of the show?
 
The article said that at the "afterparty" (hate that term), she was the most grief-stricken there. And i can totally understand her given the spectacle her brothers made.

The sad part is, Janet and MJs kids are the next meal ticket.

It's amazes me that you are accusing me of posting "LIES" since you yourself have never heard MJ say he didn't agree to be part of the show. Just because MJ didn't sign the contract to do the reunion performance does not mean he was not on the show. I am posting an article that was written by someone else, just like the OP who posted the TMZ article.

well, the estate does not own the right to footage of prince paris and Blanket .

I have to agree with you on this. It is also usual thing in my country to have a meal and meet with all your family and close friend after burial. It's not an 'after-party'. It is a common thing in some european countries. However, pictures, reunion and money making... this part really scares me... :no:

Variety is usually a very reputable entertainment rag and for sure, if MJ did agree to this, we will know soon enough if he was filmed for it. That won't be to hard to confirm.

please , the one who wrote the article probably talked to jermaine , joe or Randy and we know they would have said mj agreed to show up , why do you think the family was acting carzy as the TIT was approaching they knew mj would get hundreds of millions and they would get nothing , we knew after his death , that the rumours were coming from his family as I EXPECTED .

well, it was confirmed before that NO ONE IN HOLLYWOOD was interested in the jacksosn reality show BECAUSE MJ WAS NOT PART OF IT .

you don't really believe that if mj indeed was part of it , any tv would have turned the jacksons down ? some logic please
 
It's only normal if reality show cameras aren't filming & selling DVD rights.

And we know that to be a fact, because??? Of what? Of course, his image being used would have to be approved by the estate. But his portion of the proceeds only would go back to the estate, not all that other stuff u say...

She was grief stricken because she buried her brother yesterday. Let's not add on to the story here and Janet is not the kind of person that MJ was.

She knows how to say NO.
 
Well, then let me put it differently: if Michael disagreed to be a part of this while he was alive, what makes you think he'd wanna be a part of it when he's dead?

I don't think we know enough information to know that. I do know that the sib bros have been talking about doing some sort of reality show for years now. What we don't know is how this particular deal came about. What we do know is that the pilot was indeed filmed prior to MJ's death.

I wouldn't think that MJ would be a part of this, but I think we need to clearly state opinions, vs. stating opinions and beliefs as a fact. This is how things get mixed up on fan club boards. Let's deal with what we know is a fact and state our opinions, beliefs, etc., as opinions and beliefs.

Anyways, It's funny because I would defend the Jackson brothers (I've always been aware of Latoya's opportunist ways). But I questioned Joe and apprantly he wasn't at the party. It's just so clear now that they are fucking opportunist and it's sickening!! I bet this was all Jermaine's idea! Ugh!

And my question again is simply this? Do we have that confirmation? I know that his people stated that he didn't want to be a part of the AGE deal and the circumstances behind that whole thing is a fog. All I'm saying is to identify speculation as such and to back up fact with facts.

I think that the only thing that is certain is that film equipment was at the burial ceremony with the intent of using portions of it as part of the A and E reality series in dealing with MJ's death. My opinion here is that it's one thing for them to talk about how they felt and if they want to show themselves prepping for the event, fine. But leave the guests, the parents and MJ's children and MJ's casket out of it. That crosses the line and IF THEY DO THIS, I WILL BE THRU WITH THEM. I'm generally very supportive of this family, but I cannot support this move.

If they do this. It's up to them.
