Celebs who supported Michael?

That Rick James interview was great.
What a good and heartfelt defense of Michael :).

I don't know who he is either, lol, but I like him.

Rick James is a singer. Rick James died few years ago.

The first thing I thought of when I read this post was Rick James' quote at the BET awards in 04....

"I'm Rick James Bitch" LOL

Rick James is a singer; he is the nephew of Melvin Franklin of the Temptations. He's nicknamed the King of Punk Funk.

 Now you have me thinking about "F*** yo couch n****, f*** yo couch!" from Chapelle show.

Rick tells it as how he sees it. Just look at some of the interviews he gave about Motown on YouTube.

I have doubts about some of these names. We didn't hear from Brook Shields during that time. thats y ppl thought she was fake at the memorial. She didnt even know the last time she saw him. She said 91 but it was 93 Grammy awards. Will Smith was wishy-washy. Theres a thing in Hollywood where some celebs who are afraid to saw how they really feel for fear of pissing off the majority. Hollywood is so fake for that. He didn't support Mike. He went with the crowd. I saw interviews where he was asked about I was just like WTF. Someone I can saw FOR SURE who supported him, who didn't care who though what, who didn't care how it would affect her project was ALICIA KEYS. She just told them like it was. Beyonce was kinda iffy at times too. Thats another one that can be fake. She never came out straight and said how she felt. Yes we all know she liked him. She would always say so before the trial during, when they would ask her , she had nothing to say. She is another one of the fake celebs who went with the crowd. Was afraid I guess of how it would damage her career. But majority of ur list i would say yes too though.
Preach!!!:clapping:

When it comes to Will and Beyonce i'm talking DURING the trial when I think it counted the most. They are one of those who I would say turned their backs. I honestly think , with Beyonce anyways was she was trying to "protect" her career. Hollywwod is funny like that. You have to grow with the crowd. Will Smith is another story. The boy done change. He went all hollywood. Will "Tom Cruise is my best friend" Smith.
Yeah this is why I don't believe all celebs automatically become true supporters just becuz they said something positive here and there. We know THE REAL ones.
Also, there are so many celebs who loved his music at one time or another in their life, but some of them bash(ed) him when it comes to him as a human being. So, it's hard to tell if a celeb truly supported him by looking at them just gushing over how they love his music in front of camera.

So much names here... we're talking about real suporters, not one day suporters.
Good point!

I was about to post the Rick James quote. @ilovemjx: You beat me to it:D, thanx for posting. He told the truth, keepin it real and tellin it like it is. When I first saw the quote last year, I quickly stored the text.

Did Eddie Griffins go to court with Michael or something..?

I was watching "The Jacksons Exposed" and they said something like that. I knew he stuck up for him in his stand up but I never knew about this..?

Also did Chris Tucker and Jay Leno go to court to defend him?

And are all these people definite? And during the trial? Because I've never heard of most of these people supporting him.

Sorry for all the questions. lol

Sorry, I did the same thing.

thanks so much for this thread. It is so good to know that some celebrities came out supporting Michael during his trial. Call me irrational but now the only rule I use to decide whether to like/dislike a celebrity is how he/she treated MJ.

One thing I have noticed is that Jay Leno has not made one Michael Jackson joke since his show premiered, neither have any of the comics he has had on the show. I think it was Tuesday, his band played" The Way You Make Me Feel".

I know from my friends that late night comics like Kimmel have been making jokes about the kids paternity and his family members. No respect at all.

Hmmm, I don't think we get the Jay Leno show over here but I definitely know it's strange for him not to make a joke about something like this.

HAHA Rick James was the baddest mofo in show business.
I especially giggled at the part about Santa Clause being a pedophile because it's something I've claimed for a couple of years - People always get pissed off when I say that, I think I need to stop :p

I love this part:
"It has to do with L-O-V-E -- love. "

The same thing Michael is saying in the trailer for TII.

There's Lady Gaga too, just found out he had input into some of her songs so she obviously respected him :D

They testified in his defense in court, but Chris Tucker was the genuine huge supporter, Jay Leno kept making the same tired jokes he always did.

We didn't hear anything from many celebrities, just because they don't do it publicly, it doesn't mean they don't support him. ;)

Brooke claims she hasn't seen Michael since 1991. But she was his date to the 1993 Grammy's. I know Michael called her at various points in her life to see if she was ok (ex. Post partum depression), but I don't remember her mentioning calling him during the trial.

She could respect him as a musician, but it doesn't mean she believed him... I don't know, cuz' I don't know much about Lady Gaga, so... :/

From what I heard the death hit her really hard, apparently she couldn't stop crying so I think she must have respected him in some other way, but I don't know, I don't believe much that the press write.

Where did you get that from? I never even heard Lady gaga mention Michael Jackson.

I never heard that either, but I don't read newspapers or anything, so I don't know.
But I think it would be cool if she really was a Michael fan, don't you think? Amy Winehouse said she was a big fan of his too...

Irrational or not, that is one way in which you can tell who your real friends are, not just fair
weather friends. It's just that you appreciate who is a real friend to someone you care about (MJ). It also indicated the measure of selflessness or self-scarifcing someone is: Do they care so much for their career where they are willing to abandon a friend if they think he is being railroaded, or they are afraid to call out injustice so that they may become unpopular against those who cannot think for themselves? You just appreciate people who are not minf****d by the media or try to beome popular at someone else's expense or people who are not mean to other people just because other people are.

did anyone else find beyonce's joke about MJ in "Fighting Temptations"..........eye brow raising?
for those who don't know, in the movie her character, as a little girl, rejects cuba gooding jr.'s little boy character because she wants to "marry michael jackson"
as they meet as adults, he asks her "what happened to marrying MJ" and she says "turns out i'm not his type" =/

i know she didn't say it, it was written by someone else...but still.....

I didn't watch the movie, but by reading your quote my first reaction to the quote "turns out I'm not his type" was that Michael's 'type' tended to be Caucasian women, at least from what we have seen publicly.

But I can see how other people might take that quote differently. I hope to God it's not meant to be the other thing that I don't even want to mention.

I wouldn't include Justin full-heartedly. He said not that long ago about Michael "I love the music and hate the man"

If you guys are going to spit out quotes like this, you should really include a source as proof.
That sounds pretty awful, but I wouldn't believe it until I saw it cited.

Can you give us a source?

Also, did someone mention Bette Midler? She said "I was a fan and I remain a fan" for Michael, just at the time the 2003-2005 case had started.. I give her credit for that
