I'm not sure how this VH1 list was compiled, but Michael was left off of it. I am sick of people not giving him his due when he is the MOST charitable celeb! Some of these people are great, but why no MJ?

http://blog.vh1.com/2009-11-20/top-20-celebs-gone-good-see-who-made-the-list/

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the two biggest attention seekers. They named a charity after themselves. Now that's sad.

Michael did Heal the World Forndation (and the song), We Are The World, What More Can I Give, Earth Song and the WHOLE Dangeorus Tour was for charity.

What about Rodger Moore or PELE or Lenny Henry (comic relief) or even BOB GELDOF......these are people who dedicate most of their time to charity.

And what about BILL GATES who gave almost half his fortune to charity (that's a whopping $20,000,000,000 or $20-BILLION)

This is a load of C-R-A-P!!!!

But there unfortunately due to all the sensationalized bullcrap, and the media depiction of MJ, the regular Joe doesn't know about Michael Jackson has the world record for the most donations. And the MJ critics when you tell them that, will try to write it off as a tax write off. I tried telling that to a critic about how he has the world record for the most donations and they gave me that tax write off excuse. :(

thats messed up. Michael did way more then anyone eles on that list. cant believe they cant show case how good of a person he was. jerks.

We should send this to VH1. How in the world could they have ignored it?

Michael Jackson - AIDS Project L.A., American Cancer Society, Angel Food, Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, BMI Foundation, Inc., Brotherhood Crusade, Brothman Burn Center, Camp Ronald McDonald, Childhelp U.S.A., Children's Institute International, Cities and Schools Scholarship Fund, Community Youth Sports & Arts Foundation, Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), Dakar Foundation, Dreamstreet Kids, Dreams Come True Charity, Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation, Heal The World Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Love Match, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Minority Aids Project, Motown Museum, NAACP, National Rainbow Coalition, Rotary Club of Australia, Society of Singers, Starlight Foundation, The Carter Center's Atlanta Project, The Sickle Cell Research Foundation, Transafrica, United Negro College Fund (UNCF), United Negro College Fund Ladder's of Hope, Volunteers of America, Watts Summer Festival, Wish Granting, YMCA - 28th Street/Crenshaw

this is just unbelievable... ffs Mike has been recognised as the biggest charitable donator ever and still will be with his Will still donating from his estate.
He never wanted media attention for all the good he did, it was all done very low key.
This is just not right. The world needs to know what he gave, not just money but what he gave of himself and all selflessly (is that a word?).....
how do we get this out there?

I so forgot about him (why in the heck Bill Gates in not on there baffles me), I guess that only the in-celebs (the type that gets positive press) are acknowledged on this list.

This is absolutely ridiculous. The world needs to start recognizing all the wonderful charity work Michael has done and is still doing. He's possibly the biggest charity donor or one of the biggest charity donators in the world. Michael gave and gave and I want to pull my hair out over the fact that it seems to be getting glossed over. That is part of Michael's legacy and he still continues to give in death. Come on.

However, it's VH1. I don't expect anything more from the sister station of MTV.

Does that list include all charities Michael supported (It's looong!)? Yeah, I'm happy to see Bono there and I'm sure the rest of those listed do great work too... Michael really should be on there!! I think Michael, like many other people just make many donations quietly too - and he did leave a sizeable portion of his money to charities in his will. So, yes, Michael should not have been left out.

What is the point of sending them angry emails?

Michael DID not want to publicize his charity work. He believed in what he called "true" charity. Just recently, Taj twittered about it:

  1. My uncle was truly amazing. Not only did he do all of these things and more. We learned best by his example. 3:23 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

  2. Use your success and fame for good. Visit children hospitals. Give yourself to the less fortunate. Make your music count for something. 3:15 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

  3. That was one of the 1st things our uncle reminded us about when we started having success with 3T. Be charitable and give back. 3:11 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

  4. "True" charity is when you do something for someone or give money or time to something and nobody else knows you did it. 3:07 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

  5. He taught us(my brothers & I) at a young age that it's not "True" charity if you announce it to everyone saying "hey look what I did". 3:03 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

  6. One of the most important lessons I learned from my uncle Michael... "True" Charity 3:00 AM Nov 9th from Twitterrific

True charity does not make any list.

I was more annoyed when I first posted this; I agree that he didn't donate because he wanted the recognition, and VH1 has gotten worse and worse recently (now it's all crappy reality shows), so I shouldn't let this bother me. Thanks to everyone, esp Memefan for all the responses.

Great advice from their uncle! Goes to show Michael was the real deal! Such a beautiful man! This is the legacy that would deserve to be shouted from the rooftops. Michael truly knew what charity is really about.

QFT.

What a stupid list.

Michael has done charity from the heart. He never run to the camera's saying ''Look at me, look what i'm doing''. He was always very humble about it

Yeh, this is not a good list. There are a few not mentioned there. How about Elton John too, he has done a lot for charity.

Hayden and her whales made the list..

Michael is on this list of philanthropists

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_philanthropists

the MJ critics when you tell them that, will try to write it off as a tax write off.:(

Thats silly, that theory should be applied to everyone then.

MJ gave not only money and equipment, but importantly his time, his home and his heart.

This list is so sickening.
Things like this always make me sick and what makes me even more sick is the fact then MJ never ever get the appriciation he deserves.
He is listed at the most charitable artist/entertainer in the history of the world or doesn't that me anything to anyone any more?
I guess not but then again nobody was interested in what Michael done, they were only interested to see what 'weird' thing he was going to do next, they didn't give a shit.
It hurts me that the so called celebs are getting recognition and MJ never does.
He has done more then they ever will.
I haven't got the time of day for these people and I don't care if they are doing a good thing or not because they will never amount to what MJ has amounted too.
I hate this and yes I will be contacting VH1 as should we all.

I forgot another one that also didn't make the list, Warren Buffet, he donated 30 billion dollars to charity. The list is full of In celebs that the In crowd wants to see. Although I do think that many on this list are for real about it and not for publicity.

It's VH1 no surprise

Who cares about what they say??? MJ was a GREAT humanitarian and we all know it. He is even in the Guinness book of record for those who need it in black and white to believe it.

I totally agree with you. But I don't think I am going to contact them. I just simply won't bother watching their station. The last time I really remember watching their station was a good 2 or 3 years ago. I got no interest of watching any of their programs that they show anymore. At one time VH1 was very MJ friendly. They would always show some kind of MJ related program. I even have an interview on tape that Michael did for VH1 back in November of 96. But when they stopped showing Michael all of the time was when I stopped watching their station. I mean if they want to be so stupid as to leave Michael off of a list like that. I just simply won't bother watching their station. What they show any more on their station is just so stupid now. I mean who in the world would want to see those kind of shows any way.

When was the last time MJ donate to charity?

we don't really know because michael said that it is not TRUE charity when you let other people know. he said he doesnt give to say to others 'hey, look at me.'

so idk. and im pretty sure we dont know about all his charity he's done since he tries doing it in secret.

Yeah I agree, Michael gave out of the goodness of his heart, he did not inform the media when he went to the orphanages, hospitals or when he brought thousands of children to Neverland.

I can't believe they only put a bunch of idiots who are mainly attention seekers on the list & not those who truly deserve to be on the list!

it's totally insane people are willing to diss Michael only and not praise him for the good he did (i have no polite words I could say about them honestly i don't!!!)

thats messed up. Michael did way more then anyone eles on that list. cant believe they cant show case how good of a person he was. jerks.

I knwo unlike Madonna & many others she's just like ooh look at me doing good for others (when all she cares about is her image) I personally think she's shallow & only does it for self promotion!

whereas MJ was never like that ever!!!

I think that we have collectively proved that this VH1 list is not just invalid but almost fantasy........and not just for Michael Jackson but for all famous people who do charity but not included on the list!!!
