We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video now in first post.

I don't like it. No "chemistry" at all. With the original you could see everybody was singing his/heart out. Now, where was the passion? But oh well, that's exactly the difference between this new generation of artists and Michael's generation.

It was good to see Michael, but like zizousama said now, after seeing this version I'm not sure if I'm happy about the fact they dragged Michael in it.

To all of those who say that they are not gonna buy the song.
You all make me sick.

The funds are going to people who need it, yet you are so greedy, you in your comfortable homes, eating what you want, choosing to illegally download this and make no difference or change to the world. You're showing no love at all.

Stop being so absorbed in how it made or who was in it, if you wanna listen to it, buy it.
Help and make a change.

I can't believe some of you's.

OK, so not buying WATW25 is "greedy". Riiiiight.

You should stop being judgmental of people who you don't know! There are other means of giving than buying this song and you don't know who gave what to Haiti and other people on this board or elsewhere.

And remember people: it's not just Haiti where you can help! There are people suffering elsewhere, even in your own neighborhood. The media don't focus on those cases, but when we want to help we should realize those suffering people as well!

I don't really want to watch this to prevent it from ruining the song for me. I truly mean this. But I would like to see how Michael and Janet's part turned out. At what time/minute in the video does Michael pop in?

I'm scared of this outcome. ha. Sorry to those who feel deeply about supporting this cause. But WATW moved me in so many ways when I was younger. It is one of my favorite songs ever and I will not have that memory tarnished by these new generation brats. Especially when I can't tolerate any of their "singing" at all. I don't listen to them for a reason. lol.

As for Haiti, I will help out in another way. There's been fundraiser's set up around here and at my school to support Haiti so that will be my way of contributing. Not by buying this song.

I'm sorry i just can get with this, That was a MESS.

I'm happy they did it for charity, and I will problay download just to donate but never listen it to it again.

The second I heard lil wayne I screamed "HELL NO!"

The first time I watched We Are The World I cried because it was so amazing, so many LEDGENDS comming together for a cause and you could tell they were Genuine
This version was just...UGH.

*goes to listen to the real We Are The World*

Edit: To say I do my part to help out haiti everyday, I wouldnt go against michael wishes, though im a broke teenager, when I go to the store, anything left goes to the haiti fund they have at the register, im not selfish, this song is ridiculous though

I agree that the 2010 version doesn't hold a candle to the original and many of the artists are subpar to say the least, but just like the original, this song is for charity and to help the earthquake victims of Haiti. I feel that MJ would be proud that WATW's message is being carried out by a new generation and that his message of helping and healing the world is still living strong. It would've been nice if the original was rereleased however. It's hard to replace powerhouse artists like MJ, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, et al. with "talent" like Miley Cyrus, Kanye, and Vince Vaughn of all people. But still, it's for a good cause.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

Fact: They should have just done a new song, since it is for a new cause. This song was for Africa. Michael wrote a new song for Katrina, he didn't recycle this song. So why couldn't they write a new song for Haiti? Haiti deserved better...they deserved a new song... :/

Yeah, that's how I felt about "Candle in the Wind 97" too... Both Marilyn and Diana deserved better. :mello:

Oh Lord! Now that I listened to it, I'm sad they dragged MJ in it.

Love the siggy! Snagged it for my iPhone wallpaper. Hope you don't mind.

I actually enjoyed it because it brought MJ back for me and everyone else. Just makes us love him more. I don't really listen to rap much but this little bit added something and I think my opinion on rap has changed when implemented tastefully.

Well done!

I hope the song does very well for all the victims. May god be with you all. RIP.

Please help if you can. I just downloaded the song and video off of iTunes. My very first paid downloads in like years so YAH!!

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

How right you are!!!!!!!

Just watched the video, hey I loved it!!! Well, not lil wayne, but besides that, I really liked it, and the rap part is well done. I'M really not usually liking re-doing a classic.. and much more since We are the world is the most important song in my life, but I give them 2 thumbs up! Really, disagree if you like.. I liked it!

Good job guys!

Soooooooo happy they kept MJ's partS :)

wasn,t it suppose to have a kind of message from MJ3 at the beginning of the song? well, no problem if there isn't.. Michael is there singing his part!

Love it!
Gonna buy it!

I have given much more to Haiti than it would cost me to download this song and now I´m greedy and show no love?
If I download it and don´t give more money than that, am I nice then and show love?

owowowww!!
Sorry, friend, but there are many, many ways to help Haiti. This is just one more.

I agree with you about illigal downloads, but if people believe they are going to change the world by buying this song (or any other), they are quite wrong. That is the easiest way to "save the world": TO BUY something. The real change comes in our everyday life, in the way we relate to each other, especially to those close to us.

Probably I will not buy this song, for I don't like it very much. But that doesn't mean I don't care about Haiti. We can make a difference, but we have to begin with the ones around us first.

Charity begins at home -_-

Am I being too critical?

Cause I seriously can't find any good points in the remake...

Even Celine and Jennifer sounded off to me...

They should have given Gladys some lines...

Anyways... For those who are trying to use the guilt factor- remember there are many things you can do to help people. You're not obligated to buy it if you don't like it. You can donate to other organizations, send clothes or food to the Red Cross. etc.

Cool that you liked the siggy :)

Regarding the song, I know the purpose of it. It's a noble one, but the song itself is mediocre. I know the chose the artists not based on competence, but to appeal for as much people as they possibly can. However, it sucked bad. I'm glad you, and everyone who did, downloaded it to with the intention of lending a hand. That's the most admirable of intents. I on the other hand would not download the song. It is not the only way to help. We can donate via other methods that are reliable.

i agree, too. it's amazing, how many times that message had to be repeated.

I love the original one more than this one,I liked the celin dion and Jenifer Hudson Part too.But Michael's part was the best part of the song. Any way we like it or not its for a good cause so I hope we all help.

I also loved the rap, its message is quite positive, strong and uplifting. The scenes with all the children smiling and dancing were inspiring because they showed that in spite of tragedy the will to live and the force of love are stronger than any disaster.

It is kind of sad to see people are more interested in comparisons, debates about definitions of talent and editing skills rather than focus on the message. De gustibus people....it still is a somewhat free world, so you are free to like or dislike anything, and also you can help the victims of Haiti rebuild in whatever form you wish, not necessarily through WATW 25, but I feel it is very important to have the newer generations exposed to this kind of loving and giving message.

Imho it is not right to bring down artists some may not particularly enjoy (either in terms of talent - however you see it -, technique or genre), but rather appreciate their effort to take a stand and help. ANY form of assistance is important and helps - from the poorest of folks donating out of their small means, to artists singing on songs such as these, to other people donating millions.

In copyright law the only criterion used for any work to come under its protection is originality. Quality is such a subjective matter that it couldn't possibly be considered. I think it should be the same for humanitarian artistic endeavours such as this - it is not the 'quality' (one man's treasure is another's waste) that matters, but the effort and the motivation, which are only positive as far as i'm concerned.

For those who want to donate online in addition to whether or not you buy the single, there is a link under the Donate section onthe official site

http://wearetheworldfoundation.org/

It uses Google Checkout so you can be confident it's not fraudulent as Google would not permit someone to impersonate the official organization and even if they did, the donations could be traced.

I think the organization as a whole still also reflects what MJ was about, even though he is not one of the founders, as the site shows it has just been set up in February 2010 and has applied for tax exemption.

at the same time you preached this message, thousands of the people you preached to, gave to Haiti, at the same time you gave..maybe even before you gave, and/or preached this message. guilt tripping is a form of negativity, and hate. indeed..this is a discussion board. none of the children, that are being helped by my donation to the red cross, hear what i am saying about Quincy Jones...they are too busy being resuced.

yall keep telling us, and telling us...

but which of us, are respecting the opinions of the other, and avoiding breaking the rules of this site? it's us. because you are preaching to us, while we are giving our opinions on the project.

The original is original and that`s all what I want to say about that.
