We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video now in first post.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

They just aired it but they also said that they will show the "full version" tomorrow.

it was a part of the first verse , then chorus. michael is included but no kids.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

Wtffffffffffffffffff is it rap in it``????????????

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

Apperately yes theres rap it it and i think it wasnt needed in a song like this.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

I know this was for a good cause, but this was just horrible. I said I was going to look at this with an open mind and it was.... horrible! There was no flow, it was all over the place. The rap, that was terrible, just bad. There was nothing special about Janet and Michael part because it was if she was lip synching, and to be honest she looked not happy, as if she did not want to do it. I just could not hear her. Why on earth was Wycleff screaming and yelling like that? As someone stated, it further ruined it. What was Quincy Jones, thinking?

Jennifer Hudson was on point as always, I could hear her and she was great. Of Course Michael falsetto was beautiful. I do hope they make some money for Haiti.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

This is shit, nearly all of the people in it I don't who they are (except for MJ, Janet, Orianthi, Pink and Miley Cyrus). Completely threw MJ's work out the window.

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

I wouldn't be so judgemental, because overall I actually liked this new version and the video. Can't beat the original one, no never, but this is ok. Yes, there were parts that made me go "what? :D", but I was so happy to see they kept Michael's parts there

Re: We Are The World to be re-recorded for Haiti.

I like it but the original was better! I loved that they left mike in it! I agree with the janet thing thought it was so short i thought she would get Dianna Ross whole part oh well!

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

the song was alright...the voices that stood out for me is Jennifer Hudson as always and Pink

not sure why Wycleff had that sound...

lastly...Janet was not needed....it just look like she was just moving her lips for 2 seconds...what was that?

Wow go the Autotune! Geez. Im glad MJs 2 parts are still there. There are some changes I dont like but its still a very emotional song.

I wasnt sure about the rap at first but I think the integrated it nicely. But damn who let Kanye get in there. We're supposed to help feed the kids not Kanye's ego! lol

Makes me wonder what MJ would have done with it if he were still around.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

It was okay. Glad they don't get paid for this as some of it were horrible. There is one thing I hate most in the music industry: AUTOTUNE. DONT PUT AUTOTUNE IN WE ARE THE WORLD FOR GOD SAKE!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, lol.

Oh, well. The video was good, ppl will buy this and that's the point.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

To try and re-create the magic of We Are The World is impossible. Main reason is because Michael and Ray Charles aren't with us anymore. You can't buy, you can't pay for such magic to exist. We Are The World happened and worked because all those unique people made it special. Because each and every one in the original version was unique and special.

Looking at this new version I can't help but to think of how sad popular culture, mainstream has become. All those people...who the fuck are they? I can't tell the difference between anyone!!?!? Apart from Quincy, Lionel, Streisand, Celine and Tony...who are all the other people? They all look alike!

This is new version is a JOKE!

The only thing I liked about it was that they kept Michael in. But the editing...Jesus!

Sad, sad, sad...

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

*sigh*

Justin and that Cyrus girl need to hursh with all that autotune. I dunno. Blah.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

I thought overall it wasn't bad. It definitely doesn't hold a candle to the original, but not a complete disaster like I thought it would be. Best parts for me were Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and MJ of course. Wyclef Jean's part was really comical. I'm sorry. But the rest of it was ok. I think Michael would be happy enough with it and the message is what's important.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

I'm "thinking" that Michael would have said: Let's write a NEW song for Haiti.

I wish they would have done that...is all the talent so dried up that you have to recycle a classic?

anyway

a reggae artist name Shaggy wrote an original song for Haiti that is decent..it has Sean Paul and some other Jamaica artist in it...check it out

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

I watched the longer and I just wanna say if the following wasn't included, it would've been a lot better and I would've liked it more:

Justin Beiber singing the opening line
Miley Cyrus singing her line (Though, I can't believe I'm saying this, it wasn't so bad. Just would've preferred someone else)
Lil' Wayne
Akon
T-Pain
Basically all that autotune bullsh*t! (WHY do people need to put that sh*t in nearly every song?! This song did NOT need it! The autotune just annoyed the f*ck out of me!)

Of the artists that I listed above, they should've let better singers do those lines. Also, I wasn't a big fan of Wyclef's...what was that? Screaming? ...In the video. :/

It was great hearing MJ on the track, but, like many have said, I can't really hear Janet. Speaking MJ and Janet, the part where they both appear in the video just felt...awkward to me. Bad editing. It's like they rushed and just put that part of the video together at the last minute. It could've been better.

If I could give it a grade, I'd give it a C...and I'm being generous. It just that it doesn't have the same magic and quality of the original to me. At least it's for a good cause.

Standouts for me: Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige, Josh Groban, Pink, MJ

Who knows maybe she was supposed to have a bigger part at first, but maybe they read that fans are not going to be happy if they cut Michael's parts away completely? I'm happy to see Janet and 3T being a part of this, though  Can't remember if there was any other family members?

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

Though some of the singing is quite good, the editing lacked planning. It pans too fast, you can't see the choir very well and the images fail to convey a story.

Some of the voices don't flow too well together and crescendos build up at the wrong places as a result.

What was needed is to give the video a storyline, especially the Haiti footage.

They would have shown footage in immediate aftermath of quake
people's disperation and search for shelter
Camps forming up
Some relief efforts
And then that footage of people and kids singing along.

Panning between singers should have been smoother so that one can see the choir
Blending MJ and Janet should have been better done with fade in instead of instant appearance and then instantly changed to another shot

But it seemed to be a case of blending too much in too short a time. Shots, musicians, Haiti scenes - too much was used and ending should have been the choir with more time to be seen, not just one singer.

It's like if someone didn't have a solo part, you hardly saw their face. I had to pause in order to see who was who.

Yes the Janet part was kinda strange, maybe her part was bigger but then they decided to put MJ in it again? Who knows?

you are right..it needed more work..........it needed Michael's creative touch!

That was amazingly bad.

Michael was Michael - brilliant as per usual.

Céline Dion was good, as was P!nk and a few others, but overall...that was pathetic. Some shocking vocals and production, and what was with the rap?! How incredibly inappropriate and misplaced in that type of song.

not too bad. Would have been so much better without the rap. Glad they left MJs parts on there :)

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

Couldn't they have made MJs part less... i don't know blurry? MY dvd version of the video is way clearer! It looked like they used a clip from an old VHS tape! LOL

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

That's the worst piece of shit I've ever heard. A disgrace.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

I'm "thinking" that Michael would have said: Let's write a NEW song for Haiti.

yup for sure and he would have done it in less than a week I'm sure.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

wtf was that??!

that kid in the beginning.
T-pain? oh lord autotone
lil wayne? oh lord his hil-billy soundin' voice

and what the hell was Wyclef doing?

w.e oh well, they messed it up, but it's for a good cause. So, hopefully the mainstream public who like these people, I mean artists who trashed, I mean sang in the song, go buy it.

Also, why does EVERY song have to have a rap part, autotone, and be made into a hip-hop song?

Fact: Don't touch a classic.
Fact: They should have just done a new song, since it is for a new cause. This song was for Africa. Michael wrote a new song for Katrina, he didn't recycle this song. So why couldn't they write a new song for Haiti? Haiti deserved better...they deserved a new song... :/

I'm very disapointed with the remake. They totally ruined the song. Some parts were good, but overall, it was bad.

Re: We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video on post #844

OH MY.

Well I actually liked the rap part. The words were meaningful and it felt heartfelt.

I hated Lil Wayne, TPain and Akon with the AUTOTUNE!

They autotuned We Are The World! Who thought that was a good idea? What are they thinking?!

Anyway lets concentrate on the MESSAGE, and not the MESS.

Lets see if it can raise 40 million dollars for Haiti, like the original did for Africa.
