Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

TMZ has successfully stirred the pot again. I don't see where it says fans can't visit. It reads to me like Forest Lawn is enforcing its loitering policy more now than than it has in the past. Maybe because because of complaints or for other reasons, we don't know.

Has anyone contacted Forest Lawn to get a statement?

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

I've never been to Forest Lawn, but I know that time will come where I'll be able to spend an eternity in Michael's presence. So until then, just have to roll with the punches I suppose.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

well, it sounds like the latest in a bevy of weird things that happen in succession. right after Randy Jackson spoke as if he thought he could give hope to fans who wanted to get close. not saying it's Randy's fault. just saying, the closeness of the succession of how it all turned out, is par for the course of how things seem to happen. and another in the series of victories the media must think it has, against MJ and his fans. but i would think those are defeats in disguise, because it just keeps bringing fans closer to Michael, in spirit and in the keeping of his legacy. and it helps Michael continue to have the greatest support, and the support that counts the most, in the history of any public human figure. the support of fans, as opposed to the support of media.

next step..whatever happens with doctor murray.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

In the end of the day grabbing your speakers and playing your iPod through them on the steps of the terrace, dancing, generally being loud, and trying to take pictures as the doors open is quite frankly not appropriate. There is a time and a place to blast out Michael's music but Forest Lawn is not one of them, members from other families have complained, and this has happened. I just hope that the family and Forest Lawn can come to sort of compromise for the fans, like only having fans on certain days. Its just sad that a few people have ruined it for everyone. There are fans that really need to pay there, to quietly pay respects and that can't even happen now. Its just a shame.

So very true.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

It all comes down to one knowing there place......Forrest Lawn is not a club or concert venue, its a cemetary and MJ is not the only person that's there, so due respect should be given to all the other individuals laying there.

I just think that at some point an area will have to be realised where fans can collectively pay there respects because I don't see Forrest Lawn as it, never did.

very true

Maybe they should impose a silence rule or something? I agree that having special visiting hours would be smart. Hopefully this is only temporary until they can figure out how to manage it. Especially since I made arrangements to be there in a month... =/

There's a silence rule there. It's said so on their site and it's said so on a huge board near the entrance: "Visitors are expected to conduct themselves quietly and with reverent manner". Besides, it's just common sense - you never conduct yourself loudly at a cemetery. You just don't. Because it's not right.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

Lets just hope they will come up with some sort of compromise...

Opening up on specific days, strict rules about the use of cameras and music, etc...

I may visit his restingplace in the future but i dont need it to be close to him.
He is as close to me here in the Netherlands as he is at FL.

A cemetery it not a place to play music and a crowd together, fans can always do that elsewhere. It is a place for quietly and respectufully
grieving.

I do hope that some inconsiderate fans have not spoiled it for the rest of us, those who one day hope to visit him and mourn at his resting place.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

There have been lots of rumours about why this has happened. Security are fed up of fans taking pictures through the door and generally playing music and making noise, which has apparently upset a lot of relatives of the other people in the mausoloeum. Basically security are said to be fed up of everything going on around Michael. Maybe this was what Randy was talking about. I thinks its sad if true that it has to resort to this, and especially doing this now when thousands of fans have bought plane tickets so they can go to Forest Lawn. Hopefully something can be worked out.
If people play music, make noise then that's wrong. I would assume fans (REAL FANS) would only go there to pay their respects to Michael, sit quietly and then leave. Would hate to know some fans ruined it for all the others.

Sigh. I hope this decision will be re-considered.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

Fans can still go to FL and Holly Terrace but they are NOT allowed to go to the patio, to the doors of Holly Terrace.

Fans can leave flowers/cards etc below the patio and security will take it to MJ. The doors/patio is off-limit.

Still, that's sad though. I can imagine fans wanting to get as close as they can (meaning the patio) just to sit there and touch the door. I would want to, to be honest. I don't want a pic or anything, but just to go up there someday would be nice.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

dont, know what to think or feel about this.
I so wish to go there one day, lay down a red rose and payn my respect at his final resting place.
That there are people acting inapropriate is disturbing me.
FL is not coming up with this just like that, there must be a reason.

it,s a graveyard! i always shut my mouth on graveyards and talk in silence.

Yes and according to Randy those are just rumours. Nobody has actually heard this first hand so yes its a rumour.

Generally the fans ARE respectful. FL is probably just sick of all the sunflowers! lol

I agree. I have to say, when I watched some of the videos and photos from fans FL visits, I cringed seeing people laughing, mucking about and taking cheesy photos. It didn't feel right. I personally don't think it's appropriate. I'm not saying we have to cry and sulk all the time, but I always felt FL should be more a place of quiet contemplation, remembering Michael through quiet, meaningful conversations with each other and loving him in our hearts, not blasting music and making it a party place.

If the fans are allowed below the patio it's still better than nothing. the patio is really small so you'll still be close and be able to see the door. There's a bench there below the patio, I wonder if the fans are allowed to sit there...

I think to open access to the patio on some days is a bad idea because it will attract many people there at the same time while FL's aim is obviously to avoid huge gatherings there.

I think the fans (especially the ones going there every 3rd of the month) should rethink their visitation policy and go there in small groups instead of huge gatherings to respect the rules of Forest Lawn. Then they will probably consider changing the patio rules back to the way they were before..

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

Honestly, this is so sad to hear! :( I can't imagine that people won't ever get to go up to the door anymore. I think it's just that the monthly groups like MJFSC have been a little too much 'feeling at home' at that place...they held all their Justice-stuff there and took quite a lot of pictures, videoclips, and what not. That maybe kinda ruined it all.

Everyone griefs differently (so this has NOTHING to do with whether you're a real fan or not), they probably didn't do it on purpose or something. So if it's really because the fans that came there that they now want to close the place off, then I think people just need to make better agreements on how to behave. Though I still find it a bit weird to realize he's in that mausoleum with so many others, it's just not really feeling like it's gonna be possible to pay him the respect in the amount we'd like to, which is sad.

Let's hope Randy and/or the family can do something about this story. Michael deserves to have fans and all that love around him, I think all that's arranged with the flowers and stuff was so great. We should be smart enough to keep calm and make things work so everyone's happy with it.

Agreed. There's no need to go there every 3rd of the month anyway. Just meet up in a bar or something if you want to get together. Personally I hope to be able to go there once to just pay my respects and see where Michael is resting in peace and that would be it.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

Let’s put it this way. Fans NEVER were welcome there because this place is PRIVATE.
The memorial park is open to visitors every day. ANY VISITORS WITHOUT ANY RESTRICTIONS. Those areas that are private are closed, and it's impossible for just anyone to go there because of all the security. Basically, you can go to Forest Lawn any day you want and spend the whole day sitting on a bench if you want. It's allowed. As long as you're being respectful.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

what i dont understand is its ok for the media to post pictures of mj's resting place which we've all seen thanks to TMZ who showed the pictures on their website. BUT when fans go there with cameras and gifts and they have to have secruity bring them all in they dont do anything about it. they dont tell the fans to put away the cameras or anything. i watched a video that was posted on here from youtube sometime around or after valentines day and even ones from christmas where fans had cameras and security was standing right there and saw the cameras in plan sight. why not doing anything about it? that doesnt make any sence to me when that was ok but now its not and they had to inforce this new rule. i personaly dont feel the need to see michael's resting place i was fine with the way it was before but knowing that fans got away with it when security was standing right in front of them taking gifts inside while the fans flimed it in beyond me and doest add up.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

I don't know what to think about this. But if fans are making too much noise there then I guess I understand...

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

I never said the way someone grieves has anything to do with being a fan or not. I was talking about BEHAVIOUR. Either you respect the people resting at Forest Lawn including MICHAEL.....or you don't. Don't call yourself a fan and say you love and respect Michael when you can't even behave like one.

If I remember correctly Karen Faye was the person who took pics of Michael's final resting place and put them on her (public) facebook profile. That's where the media got the pictures from in the first place.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

None of us know if this story is even true yet..............after all it came from TMZ!

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

Do you think its unfair for all us fans who have supported Michael through think and thin, havent got a place to go pay our respects? Even Elvis' grave is more accessible than MJ.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

fyi - at facebook Michael Jackson fans of Southern Califarnia confirmed it. They have people who were at Forest Lawn that was asked to leave the patio of Holly Terrace. Plus about their next visit they also confirm that Forest Lawn told them they could be in Forest Lawn and close to Holly Terrace but they wouldn't be allowed to go up the stairs to the in front of the doors of Holly Terrace.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

^^Then maybe those fans were rowdy and should be spoken to, warned and then banned but to ban everyone from paying the respects is not cool. The fans deserve a place to mourn.

Good question btw. I think Neverland will be the best place for fans to come together. FL definitely is not that place because his family wants it to be that way and there is nothing you can do about it.

I agree with Asedora. Fair or unfair, his family didn't want MJ to have a fan accessible grave like Elvis. And fairness has nothing to do with Forest Lawn, it was family decision. (Holly Terrace has always been private, it's not like it was open to public and closed it down after Michael was buried).

and honestly not allowing the people at the patio, outside the doors is not surprising for me. Initially an allowed visitor took and published photos (Karen Faye), then fan groups started to take photos/ videos through doors/ when security taking in the flowers and finally they found a way to sneak in and came the last set of photos and video. So now Forest Lawn is saying "keep your distance from the doors" , Can you blame them? I don't.

Re: MJ Mausoleum -- Fans No Longer Welcome

As fans I would think we would one day want to visit him and pay our respects. There has to be a better solution. They just can't not allow the fans there. If this is true the family and the estate have to step in and do something about this.

No..we cannot blame FL...it is Karen Faye's fault for the first photo's.....and the fans who are way to loud and publish photo's. As hard as it is for me to admit..at some point I have to let go of the physical Michael...I think that is the problem we all may be having..and it really is not our fault...we love him so much we dont want to let go...I think that is going to take some time...possibly alot of time. Letting go is VERY difficult as we all know...as much as I want to be able to go to FL some day...I know even more that Michael MUST be protected from the nutters out there.
