Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

I'm thinking - from Ele's commentaries referring to Christmas time - that the first single could be one of three options:

1. Hold My Hand - it's a ballad, slow song. And Michael has a history of starting an album off with a duet track (Thriller, Bad, HIStory, kinda Invincible).

2. Another ballad from the album that we have not heard.

3. Is there a possibility of Michael having recorded a Christmas song? Alec talked of a 1994 one. I never heard about that - do you have more info?

So I'm thinking Sony wants us to know that there ARE uptempo song on the album (by offering us Breaking News) and wants to appeal to the Christmas market (by making the 1st single a ballad).

Thoughts?

like almost every fan on this forum, HMH is a no go cuz it ain't a MJ track! It's should be a track where MJ really shows emotions, i prefer an angry track, his anger against the bias against him. When he came back with History in '95 it was simply his best work if you look at lyrics.
A Christmas track would be nice, but not more than that. MJ didn't really celebrate Christmas, so it would feel a bit 'fake' to me.
A kind of Stranger Moscow song would be a awesome though!

Haha bless! That cat is cute but you're messing and stretching up my screen - stop it!! Lol!

I have pre-ordered the album from Play - can you please tell me whether this counts towards the record sales? :)

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

^^ That should count as a sale, yes.

I plan on downloading from iTunes once it's released and buying a physical copy as well. If not more than that for Christmas gifts :)

I don't know how this works in other countries, but in the US each sale needs to be done individually in order for it to count. (If you're buying 3, go to 3 different stores or buy at 3 separate times)

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

Gaz

Have you spoken with the estate about the "Opis None" song ?

thanks

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

I really don't want to be negative, but i'd be crushed in side if that was the case. Don't get me wrong, i'd love a new single, but a stronger one, i want people to see michael the way we do and Hold my hand is way to generic and non innovative for a musical great.

Well, do you think that TGIM and IJCSLY were both as strong and innovative as the other more known songs Michael had made?

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

So did Rodney work on another album then? (besides Vince) Didn't I read that he was working on some songs, from Invincible. Is it possible that they allready plan another album

I personally don't see what the big fuss about having "Hold My Hand" as a single is. First, the version that we have is NOT the final version. Secondly, there are several versions reported to exist (one with only Akon, one with only MJ, and the duet). The final track might be much different than what we have heard!

People just need to chill... the estate has done everything else right so far; I trust them to do the right thing in this situation as well.

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

Thanks Gaz :D

Is It The Night To Monday?

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

HMH as a first single would be fine by me. I love that song!

Re: The Official New Album Thread -MICHAEL Release date Dec 14th

No, but both were stronger tracks than HMH, IJCSLY was in a differen't league all together from it. Circumstances are not the same as they were then, people will be quicker to judge and not as interested, if they don't like the lead, they won't bother checking the rest of the album, only fans will, we live in an age of impatience and people have to deal with it. People's expectations change when it comes to Michael, they would be fine with HMH as the lead from another artist, but for Michael they would be extreemely disapointed.

Well, considering "they" have never heard the song, how do we know this? I actually think it would have a quite a bit of appeal... it's a good song, it's a duet with a very popular current artist (Akon) and it's the lead single off of MJ's first posthumous album. I can see it selling quite well.
